Throwing spaghetti at walls, but if there's only money on buys rather than passthroughs, could we finangle a system to get a "buy on Amazon" button on works pages? We got the demographic right there, and it wouldn't be intrusive if we put it on one of the button bars.
According to someone elsewhere, Casale gives out something similar to the Ad Sense rates on paper, but it's inconclusive at the moment to say it's a long term solution.

Has potential. I'll see about a markup to add an Amazon referral link.
Casale has a good rate. It is not quite up to speed on coverage, though. AdSense has global coverage and Casale only serves ads to the US and the Commonwealth countries. Casale doesn't entirely suck, performance-wise. Another day or two will gives an idea of how they are working out.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThe "no content warnings" option in the profile isn't working for me. If I check it and then hit "Save", it gives me the content warning, and hitting "Yes" takes me back to my profile, with the option unchecked. Hitting "No" does nothing at all.

I guess it is.Uh, just wanted to let you know: that content warning thing? When you try to opt out of it, you just get it again. Hitting yes sends you to the profile screen where it's still unchecked.

"The fact that your food can be made into makeshift bombs alarms the Hell out of me, Scrye." - CharlatanMe Too!.
Otherwise, I like the "maybe" option.
EDIT: If it's a test, maybe switch it off entirely if you're known?

Kinda OT, but...
I rofl'd at the "maybe" text that was implemented, in particular with the mention of Elevator Music. By the way, if for some really, really weird reason you want to put up a "on hold" music, may I suggest to look for some creative on-hold music for the commons
? No license issues, at least not to the exent that one usually thinks when of "license", since it is CC. With an optional player of course (otherwise the Geocities
◊ in my TV Tropes!), and for if and when the programming masters have some spare time on their hands.
Just thinking.
Oh gods, the Geocities...
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?Actually, yeah, if we could add some kind of music player to the "maybe" button, with a small selection of (public domain or properly credited CC) tracks, that would be a really awesome Easter Egg. This
could work, for instance.
Although even if that's feasible, I can't imagine it being high on the priority list at the moment.

Welcome To TV Tropes | How To Write An Example | Text Formatting Rules | List Of Shows That Need Summary | TV Tropes Forum | Know The StaffI'm almost tempted to suggest a randomized Maybe message (per page-load, not per button-press), but I doubt we want people stuck at the wall, refreshing the page, trying to collect all of those.
Speaking of the wall, it seems to have disappeared at the moment, but I'm guessing that's Fast Eddie at work. (Probably disabling the work in progress so people can get at the tropes in the meantime.)
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...As far as I can tell, that's the plan. I could be off though.
I know there's also talk of creating an amazon account that would sell media on it's respective pages here (selling Star Wars dvds on the Star Wars page, etc.) but I don't know if that will happen or not.
Reaction Image RepositoryIf we get Google back, that is the plan. As well as Amazon associate referrals here and there. Clearly, we've had all our eggs in one basket for too long.
Will also be trying out other ad networks, as their approvals come in.

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI thought we already learned that lesson from The Great Crash.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more! It's the "report this article" button on the left of the page under "Main Tropes Index", "troperville", etc. It's the very bottom button.
Reaction Image Repositorywas wondering why I got something about getting an "Editing Account" when I went to edit a page on a cookied computer. "Oh, Google pulled the ads? Bummer" I thought. Then "Oh, that's why there's a "Report This Article" button and a "Mature Audience" blocker on Precision F-Strike". Even though ol' Libertarian me isn't too happy about that part, maybe it'll keep the Bluenose Bowdlerizer types away from parts of the wiki.
Now, do I only have to press yes on the "Warning: Mature Audiences" screen once and never again on cookied computers? It'd get taxing if i'd have to do it every time I want to check out that page (but i'm not talking about just one page, i'm talking about the whole site, like I press "yes" on the Mature Audiences screen and then i'll never see it ever again). I don't want to go through a screen while browsing the site, I just want to click it once (and hopefully that's what it has done).
Poor Advertising Server. Has anyone notified his next of kin, Google Analytics?

Stomping on your fingers as you're clinging on to the abyss

That's barely long enough to read one longer trope page.
