No, I was just referring to the popular " City hires [Batman Villain] to hunt him down" theory. It would have worked great for people like the Riddler or Strange, but not so much with Bane. Of course, there never was any indicator that Nolan would do something like this at all, but it would have been a change from the "Villain targets Gotham" angle we saw so far in both movies.

Wasn't Bane originally a mercenary/assassin/something of the sort? not at all familiar with the canon
No, Bane comes from some Latin-American island nation, where he was thrown in jail for life as an infant, for this father's crimes. In there, he killed another prisoner at a very young age in self defense and was thrown into solitary confinement for the rest of his teenager and adult years. When he got out, he'd grown, he had become a mean, hardboiled badass.
After that he, no one had the balls to actually socialize with him, so he spent his spare time in the library, learning everything they had to offer. And then, at on point, he participated in a experimental drug trial for Venom, that enhanced his already impressive physics. When he broke out, he decided that the only worthy foe for him would be the Bat and that's how he became a Batman villain.

If Joseph Gordan Levitt joins the cast, maybe he'll just have a small part as the Joker in Arkham.
He does resemble Ledger, and I think it would be weird for the Joker to disappear off the earth after TDK.

"Weird doors open. People fall into things."I just have one problem with the "City hires Bane to take down Batman" theory.
Didn't the mob hire The Joker to take down Batman in the last movie? This proposed theory is basically that in reverse.
I'd love to see Chris Nolan handle the Knightfall arc. And Azrael. And like someone said a few posts back, Chris Nolan can get just about anything to work out.
Hi, I'm X Ray 2. I'm a high school student, and I am AWESOME.You know, I like the "Bane has a connection to the League of Shadows" idea. While I know that Nolan!Batman doesn't really delve into supernatural stuff, you could make it so that Bruce didn't know all of the things "Ducard" was up to and that besides sponsoring the making of fear toxin, he also sponsored creation of a Super Serum or Psycho Serum (they could combine the idea of Venom and the Lazarus Pits).
So, you could have a Bane that hates crime and corruption but is also an enemy of Batman since Batman killed his mentor.
HodorHonestly, I think that Nolan should have used the name Knightfall instead of the Dark Night Rises. The Dark Knight Rises just sounds lame and dull, whereas Knightfall is consistent with the dark and grim atmosphere of The Dark Knight Saga. I think Bane sounds great as a villain, though, and I'm optimistic that Tom Hardy and Christ Nolan is going to pull him of excellently. I just hope the movie's going to be as haunting and memorable as the Dark Knight.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."Yeah, I just realized that Knightfall is essentially a completely opposite title to The Dark Knight Rises. Though maybe it's about Batman's most triumphant moment, because he's most likely going to quit being Batman one way or the other. A Last stand, maybe.
"Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the person that doesn't get it."I can't figure out if this is a typo, an accepted abbreviation of "Christopher" that I've never encountered before, or just plain Creator Worship. Whatever it is, it amuses me.

Bane could be some mafia grunt who uses the power vacuum created by the events of the previous film and rises to power as a major player in the Gotham crime scene. Everything is possible with Nolen
