Given the circumstances of Mia's murder, I fail to see how anyone could have saved her.
Bewitching EyesI don't blame Mia for not telling him, but Phoenix was not aware of any of the moving pieces of Turnabout Sisters. He didn't know about Spirit mediums, Grossberg, DL-6, any of it.
If Phoenix was around, Redd White probably would have had to come up with a better plan than to kill someone with an object in their own office.
I dunno, he might have done it anyway and killed Phoenix too. Phoenix doesn't have a fantastic track record when it comes to being violently jumped by assailants, and generally goes down with little resistance. Something that happens surprisingly often in the series.
He's a brilliant lawyer, but I don't think he's ever won a fight in his life.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. That's true. He's crazy hard to kill.
So Redd probably would have killed Mia and clobbered Phoenix, then left under the misguided assumption that Phoenix was dead. Phoenix would wake up a few hours later with a mild headache.

Bewitching EyesKeeping in mind that if he's in the room with Mia then he's not out front meeting Maya for the first time... it'd be the same two trials but in reverse.
Day 1, Phoenix has to defend himself from the murder charge. He succeeds and is exonerated, only for the police to drag in Maya like "Here we go, we got the REAL culprit." And that's how he meets Maya for the first time.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I don't think Phoenix would get out of prison at all if he survived a hypothetical assault by Redd White in Mia's office. Redd went on the stand because he got annoyed that Phoenix did not understand their positions in life and he wanted to personally teach him a lesson.
If Phoenix is directly assaulted by him though, going on the stand would mean going against an actual witness who was there and can directly link him to the crime. Much easier to just go "Keep him jailed, I will not approach the courtroom. Replace the judge and remove the gallery so the press doesn't catch wind of this if you have to."
Not to mention he and Phoenix would never meet in his headquarters in that situation, so he wouldn't get offended by his presence and wouldn't feel a need to get involved even more than he already was.
Actually the game would probably be more about what Maya would do to help Nick since she'd find her sister dead and him uncounscious in the office.

It's funny to think that Redd White could have been a major threat and Big Bad material but is relegated to Token Motivational Nemesis because he got too arrogant and set himself up to fail badly.
"The Black Rage makes us strong, because we must resist its temptations every day of our lives or be forever damned!"He would've been sunk the moment anyone channelled Mia's ghost. She had all the dirt on him memorized.
Bewitching EyesI finally got my pre-order bonus code from Capcom Customer Support. ...Only took five days shy of a month.

Pearl can summon Mia, apparently without much effort on her part

Bewitching EyesOh, he delegated! He had a minion on-hand all set up to go! ...her job was to watch him commit murder.
I cannot stress this enough: He brought his own witness whose sole job was to watch him personally commit a murder.

Mia even helps Phoenix stop Godot's dumbass antics whenever Pearl or Maya channel her. She does seem to care for Godot, but she never gives off the impression she actually loves him. How they interact in the second case doesn't feel like lovers to me even if it was a brief scene.
But speaking of the final case, how do you all feel about the fact that MAYA is technically half of the final boss of the trilogy as the final witness testimony? I think that was my favorite part of the case.
