"Interesting," Orren said. He didn't know what those squid-faced psychic pirates might be, but he knew that a dragon was an impressive enough foe to beat. "It would seem that you have skills indeed, to be able to come out on top against such adversaries. I can only hope that I am worth the money you will pay me, as I am only a teenager in the reckoning of my kind."

"Just not a morning person. Didn't sleep well."

Mal woke up,her first reaction upon seeing the stance was of fear. Fear that woke her in a matter of seconds before calming again down. A good chance had been presented upon herself while Drek was bathing, and she would not waste it.

<<"Come to me, children of Lolth">> She whispered, summoning the surrounding spiders towards her ropes. Dozens of tiny house spiders begun to chew and tear the rope asunder setting her free.

What followed was a frantic sprint for Drek's sword, all the while the elf was too naked and too busy to react fastly.

Drek, scrambled out of the tub as soon as he saw what Mal was doing, but he was just a hair too slow. Realizing he was unclothed Drek grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist.

He said: "I should have used chains. And a hood. Alright, put down the sword before I have to hurt you."

"Somehow, I doubt that, Fallen Prince." Mal kept the sword steady. "You failed to find my holy symbol, you neglected taking my armor off, and you're stark naked. Even if you used the towel as makeshift whip, you'd still be going bare handed versus an armed, armored opponent with the dark gift of Lolth."

She made a smirk."Unless you're willing to call for help for your friends, while being stark naked. And in any case, what do I lose? I am alone in hostile lands with the gold opportunity to bring your pale head down. And even if you do call for help, I could still attempt to get away in the chaos."

Her free hand begun to glow, with measured steps she put her sword up to Drek's chin, wary of his reactions and her surroundings.

"I do wonder whom is understimating whom, Drek. Did you really think that handing me to the king would be benefitial? What makes you sure that they wouldn't make the -mistake- to allow me a exploit that I could use. But It won't matter. Mal'wae Ken'rahel is the one sending you to hell!"

Mal then moved offensively.

Drek backed away from the sword point and said: "Well, you're right about one thing: You're alone in hostile lands. What you don't seem to get is that there's no escape for you. Look, I already told you what the town watch will do to you if you show your face. This is a walled town, and the watch guards the walls. Unless you can fly, how do you expect to get outside the gates, hrm? Look, the only way for you to stay alive here is as my prisoner. Don't you get that?"

Drek's face took on an earnest expression. He said: "Look, your people and mine have a long history of animosity, so I can understand why you'd want to kill me. But if you kill me I won't be around to tell the others not to kill you. Without me, you're on your own out here. You're facing a whole world that wants to see you dead, and I'm the only one who needs you alive. So let's make a deal: You agree not to kill me, and I'll agree to not turn you over to the king. All I need you for is to show the king there's Drow on the surface. That should be enough to convince him the Illithid are a threat since he still thinks the Drow and the Illithid are still allies. I don't actually need to turn you over to him, so once you've served your purpose you and I can go our separate ways. If anyone asks, I can just say you escaped. What do you say?"

"Nice save, pale one." Mal slightly arched an eyebrow, while she halted her attack."Despite your... previous, self-centered nonsense, I find your latest offer palatable. I could work with it. As long as you throw in a nice bath and food. I haven't had much since the forest, and inns are unkind to someone of my tastes.Oh, and my stuff and some clothes, can't really walk around showing this face, can I?"

She lowered the sword, tossing it away from the couple. The spell glow dissapeared.

<OOC: This post may Taste Like Diabetes and I may have broken rule 4 but I feel it is worth it for the funny line I put in>

Aaron was still asleep dreaming about his past...

The memory was inside the house that Aaron grew up in the later years of his childhood. Aaron's home was bigger than most houses inside Blue Rose Gully, though the living space was similar to some of the smaller houses as the building was also a clinic run by Aaron's father, Jack. It had been one year since the family had settled in.

On this day, Aaron finally mastered a new spell and wanted to show his family at night, as this is one of the lucky nights where work hadn't exausted Jack.

"Showing off a new spell, a bit arrogant Aaron" said Aaron's sister, Emily.

Aaron commented "...thank's for the remark Emily...anyways for this spell to be awesome I need the cand..."

Jack caused a gust of wind to put out the candles before Aaron could finish his sentence. "Go ahead son, I just hope the spell will help with the relighting of the candles."

Aaron focused and aimed his right palm upwards, suddenly a ball of light appeared above the hand.

The mother and housewife, Mia responded with "Well I guess I don't need a candle-holder anymore, by the way you're helping me with chores at night time now Aaron, I'm glad you taught our son this spell Jack."

Aaron butted in "Dad didn't teach me this spell, Tom across the street did."

"So that was an arcane spell and not a divine spell..." Jack muttered

Suddenly a loud noise could be heard, in the window carrot soldiers could be seen from the distance.

Staring out the window, Mia said "Oh no, The vegetable army! Let's hope the bread catapults hold them back."

Aaron quickly woke up with confused thoughts, the dream accurately followed a moment in his life before the carrot soldiers appeared. James knocked on, unlocked and opened the door to Aaron's room, he than shouted "Wake up Aaron, sleep any longer and you're going to miss breakfast"

Aaron answered with awkardness in his voice "Er...right than, I guess I'll go down to the pub...I don't think I want to go back to sleep anyways..." Aaron slowly walked down stairs towards the common room.

After a while, Drek and Mal came downstairs to eat breakfast. Drek ordered ham & eggs with a side of toast. He said to Mal (whose face was hidden under her hood): "What do you want?"

Even if the soap had been cheap, cleaning up had felt well. She hadn't had a chance to half-enjoy the commodities of an inn like normal people due to her condition. Even if the Prince was an enemy of all her kind, it wasn't that bad to be a bit more lenient than most drow would have ever been. That tactic worked surprisingly well in the surface.

"I'll have apple pie and some milk" She said in her strangely accented common, a hint of a better mood in her voice.

Sam lifted her hand hoping to catch the attention of a waitress "Excuse me, we want something tasty with lots of honey for breakfast"

The waitress said to Sam: "Well, there's always toast & honey. That's tasty.. and it has honey. And then there's the honey-glazed ham, or you could put honey in some tea to sweeten it. Pretty much anything you can imagine eating, imagine it tasting sweeter with honey."

[GM's Note: Honey, either farmed by beekeepers or gathered in the wild, is widely consumed by all peoples throughout this world. Due to the fact that pasteurization has not been invented yet, honey is almost always served in it's natural liquid or hard-crystallized state. Since honey can be safely stored at room temperature for relatively long periods, there is no pressing need to pasteurize it anyways.

Honey is also commonly fermented to make Mead (Honey Wine) and the honey-based liqueur known as Trokaje. Some even use it to boost the alcohol content of beers, wines, and whiskeys during the fermentation process, a process known as "Fortification."

The only other known way to obtain sweetener is to grow Sugar Beets, Sweet Corn or Sugar Yams (Sugar Cane being unknown in this part of the world) and then use that to make granular sugar. However, the process used to make granular sugar from such plants is a much less efficient process than we in the modern world use, and so the resultant product is very expensive to produce and cannot be produced in sufficient quantities for everyday use. This fact is compounded by the fact that agriculture in this world is in a relatively primitive state, with the farms of the nation just barely able to feed the populace with not much left over in the way of surplus. This leaves little room for the use of sweet plants to make sugar, especially when honey is so abundant. Despite this, granular sugar does still see some limited use in certain up-scale bakeries and in a few kitchens of the rich elite, but in generally that kind of sugar unknown to the populace at large.

Now think sweet thoughts and order breakfast.]

"Those things you mentioned sound really good, I'll have one of each please" Sam said quite happy. At home she rarely had a chance to try anything with honey, she had to wait until there was some left over after her father ate.

Drek said to the group: "So, everyone, I have some news. I've struck a deal with Mal here. She promises to stop trying to escape my custody, and in return I promise that I'll let her go free after I use her to convince the king to help us fight the Ilithids."

Edvin said: "We don't, but I didn't get to be a Barron of Skarae Brea by being naive or foolish, Edvin. Mal here has expressed a desire to get back to her own kind in the Underdark, and I've made it clear to her that I'm one of the few surface dwellers that won't necessarily kill a Drow just because they're a Drow. That's becasue I've delt with the Drow before. I know what their society is like. Now, think about how you'd feel in her shoes. An unwelcome foreigner in a land where the common people will want you dead because of your race, and no idea how to get back home. As I think you can see, she understands that if she were to escape my custody she would be putting herself in greater peril than if she remains my prisoner. In a nutshell, we each have something the other needs. And so we struck a bargain. I can get her home, and she can get me more influence with the king. A fair trade, wouldn't you say?"

Orren wandered in with Edvin, quite full after his breakfast. He didn't quite know what was fully going on, so he decided to keep quiet and wait until everyone was finished speaking before he opened his mouth. Better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to open his mouth and prove it.
