Sir Ad, the trick you're looking for is to not get into the second Asha fight at all. Remember that the Velocithor's beam goes through walls. Can you think of something that has walls that you'd ordinarly have to do something to get through?
EDIT: Actually, looking back at your post, it looks like you already knew that. Stupid stupid dumb.
By the way, Asha's a guy. I know.

I wonder what's for dinner? You don't have to not take any damage at all. You just have to take less than 100 damage total.
the future we had hoped forDoes the damage not reset when you reload a save?
And yeah, looking at the time limit it looks really, really challenging. I'm actually wondering if it's possible at all, as in is it even theoretically possible to kill enough enemies within the time limit. Somehow at first glance I managed to interpret the limit as three hours for the whole game, which didn't seem so bad. Four minutes per level just sounds ridiculous, given how much time it takes to kill the later enemies with the shotgun. Worst part is that I have no idea how many enemies I would have to kill per level to end up where I want to, would definitely suck to get to 290 kills or a similar number, especially since just reloading the last save in the beginning of Sector X would definitely not be enough to get an extra few kills.
I'll try it out and see how many kills I can get on the first few levels. When it seems too challenging I'll probably change my next playthrough to something else, like an immortal run or something.

the future we had hoped forThat's what I meant, if you have 0 damage taken when you save the game, then take damage and reload, is the taken damage still in the records?
Edit: Because if it is then I suddenly have a lot more respect for the immortal run.
Edit2: Not meaning to say I didn't have it in the first place. But it would just be even more difficult to pull off.

Oh, and I remember watching a Deceased Crab Lets Play of the game, and there was a room where you basically play a one-woman variant of that hyperturret game. Which sector was that again? And was there any reward?
Sector 8. You get +1 "secrets" for doing it IIRC.
It's in Sector 8, but you don't get +1 secrets. "Secrets" are everything unlockable to the main menu Extras.
About the mercy invincibility, its timer only activates when you hit the ground - you don't get a shorter invincibility after flying through the air. IIRC teching actually increases it since the timer kicks in when you're already on your feet, as opposed to having to go through the "getting up" animation first.
Finally killed Yukabacera.... And then apparently one of my family members did a system wipe for my computer. I didn't even get to use the scrambler, or look at the enemy info.
Siiiigh...
In fact, I have to do /everything/ all over again... At least Iji is fun so it won't be QUITE as much of a chore but...

I was semi-conned into reacing Sector Z... that was weird... then Sector Y, which the Null Driver had erased any semblance of ground in. Just solid blue field with Iji and the occasional box.
[1] This facsimile operated in part by synAC.Four questions. I'm not sure if they were brought up somewhere in the game that I missed, but:
How long do Komato live? Do they have any sort of family units? How tall are they? How large is their empire as a whole?
Again, they may or may not have been brought up in game, and you more observant and less-game delete'd folk may know.
Speaking of that last bit, I beat the game on Ultimortal for the first time!
Well, the Komato are about as tall as Iji, and Iji is 1.9m/6'3" *, so I suspect most of them are about two meters tall.
the future we had hoped forHow long do Komato live?
No idea, but it's implied somewhere that they consider it very long.
Do they have any sort of family units?
No idea. They do mention having boy/girlfriends. The plans for Iji 2 say that most are civilians on breeding colonies.
How tall are they?
32 pixels is one meter in the game, which is how I roughly measured the characters. The Komato got complicated since I measured them while hunched down, but Ansaksie stands upright in some poses and is around 2.70 tall then. The sizes vary between Komato, who are bred for specific ranks (that part is also from the Iji 2 plans so it's not really canon).
How large is their empire as a whole?
According to Yuka's news page the Tasen had at least 11 planets in their prime, or shared them with the Komato, while a logbook says the Komato "outnumbered them a hundred to one". So it's safe to say it's massively vast. :p

I'm so proud of myself. I made a really crappy level 1 for my Iji pre-quel!
It's music-less, and so bare-bones it's not even funny, but I'm proud to have gotten around to doing anything.
I HAVE finished writing it, though.
My plan is to tweak that level around until exams are over and I can put real effort into it. :p

It's certainly possible to already have 300-some kills by the start of sector X if you make a point of it... on Extreme and below. On Ultimortal the subset of enemies you can reasonably kill is much smaller than the set of enemies. Basically it's gonna come down to killing as much as possible during the first half of the game. If you don't already have nearly all the necessary kills by the time the Komato truly replace the Tasen, you're not gonna make it. At the very least I would recommend you to do an extreme mode One Woman Army run first. If you're that interested in giving yourself a challenge, combine it with the less-than-100-damage-taken challenge; that's not actually that bad if you abuse the nuke in the right places, though I wouldn't expect it on your first nonpacifist run.
