Honestly I get what Kubo was going for in that moment since its a call back to Soul Society
Old Man Zangetsu says only the true form of his blade can defeat him... and Yhwach's sword is pretty much just Zangetsu with an eagle hit
The issue is of course EVERYTHING in the last few chapters is rushed that it feels somewhat nonsensical
Not helped by the fact that Ichigo's fight with Yhwach is built on the lie that Ichigo defeated him the first time so we all KNEW Ichigo was getting his ass kicked its not a Bleach arc till Ichigo gets his ass kicked
Like it just makes Ichigo's NEW bankai pointless and... I'm gonna say Ichigo should have just gotten the Horned Hollow mask White was wearing last time... The one horned look is Fucking stupid
This is an outrage against Luminara!Viz really should have just stuck with Crunchyroll. I get they wanted to make the audience wider, but I feel like they overestimated Disney's competence when it comes to streaming.
Watch SymphogearA good number of V As for Bleach back then are union now and typically don’t do Crunchyroll dubs. So you hear them more in western cartoons now like Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, etc.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Definite spoiler warning on that opening. And not just for small stuff like fights (there's no Uryu vs Hitsugaya or Chad and cat!Yoruichi vs Soi Fon here), but big stuff like Uryu's allegiance, or Squad Zero, or Buckbeard looking like a certain someone.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a second opening for EBTR onwards.
I didn't like the ending. It wasn't really anything besides a bunch of swords sticking out of the ground.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyNone of the Soul Reaper Captain/Lieutenant fights advanced the plot when the gang made their way to Hueco Mundo. None. Not until Ichigo finally made it to Aizen and they proceeded to politely walk into Aizen's sword to clear the way for the finale. I still like Bleach but that's ludicrous. That editor of Kubo's didn't care for Kubo's own intentions for the plot much back then.
He makes a very good point in regards to the secondary characters and their fights; most of the fanbase love the secondary cast and the world they inhabit, and to them they only add to the story of Bleach.
But when they start subtracting from the main plot, in this case Ichigo and Co rescuing Orihime, then it becomes a problem. There's nothing about the secondary character's fights that add to the main plot thread. And while that may be interesting to some, its annoying as shit when it feels the main character is a supporting character in his own series and that very much is a problem with Bleach.
Too much time on the secondary cast at the expense of the protagonist and his group, and thus the main plot.
And its funny because he praised One Piece for the opposite; making the secondary characters feel important while never losing track that Luffy is the centerpiece of the series. Its something a lot of Shonen can't do as either its too centered on the protagonist to the exclusion of others or its not centered enough on the protagonist.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. The way Bleach chapters are generally constructed to put all the focus on one thing at a time really dosent help with that, it helps dramatic moments when they happen, but it also makes irrelevant events take up way more space then necessary.
One Piece only can really keep up all its various subplots, without completely destroying the pacing because of how content dense its chapters have gotten in recent years.

Bleach and DB have a similar issue where the supporting characters get a lot of page time but don’t often advance the story, meaning their role is, essentially, stalling for time until someone with sufficient PROTAGONIST POWAH gets there to turn the tide.
Bleach is so decompressed that it’s a lot more noticeable here.

Bleach supporting character fights sometimes feel like more than progressing the plot, they’re progressing the completion rate of info books
Revealing shikias or bankais so another one can be checked off the list
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's not so much the fights themselves, but what exactly are the fights contributing to the overall story?
That's the problem with Bleach, the fights are self-contained and only matter in the context they happen in as opposed to serving the greater narrative.
Ichigo's fights are the best because, shocker, the protagonist actually has the main narrative throughline for his fights and naturally they carry more weight.
Had Bleach's other fights carried importance towards the plot, theu wouldn't feel anywhere near as dragged.

Hard to believe that the anime is back. I hope we get more elaboration on the exact nature of Uryu's Schrift and what exactly happened at the end of the Yhwach's fight with Ichigo's sword.
