The forging cost came all the way up to 38 levels, teetering on the edge of unforgabilitity, but it's complete.

Minecraft Dungeons: Gameplay Reveal Trailer
Pretty fancy. I wonder if any of the stuff there will migrate back to regular Minecraft, like hammers.
Considering Mojang is a Microsoft-owned studio, I'm surprised to see PS4 and Switch will get this game, too. I guess Microsoft really does want to be buddy-buddy with the other console manufacturers now.
I mean, Minecraft itself is on everything and the kitchen sink, so I'm not surprised that a spinoff would be too.
Looks like it's another spinoff missing the mark on what made Minecraft such a hit.
Minecraft has such a big audience that this spinoff will definitely find some people that would be interested. I don't think this is too crazy of a direction to go to since it's kind of 1 aspect of Minecraft made into a separate game.
It's like Happy Home Designer.
Damn, I wish I had known 1.14.3 was gonna drop. Would have liked to complete my god armor before they fixed the Protection incompatability bug.
If you're just wanting it for personal worlds, you can always go back a version for a while. Most servers probably won't update for a while yet as well. I personally made a set and added it to my creative hotbars.
I mean, I could also always just hack them in since I'm the admin, but that's kinda cheating. Might as well add Smite and Bane of Arthropods to my god sword at that point too.

Do minecarts still slow down when next to stairs or rails?
I have a question less for myself and more for my roommate. Normally I wouldn't consider this the place to ask, but the power of Google hasn't gotten me anywhere so I thought I'd try.
My roommate has Minecraft for Xbox One. I don't know when he played last but he tried to play with his brother and a friend today and was prompted to do an update. However, whenever he tries to do said update it takes him to the Store and to a screen that seems to expect him to buy the game/update for $19.99, even though he already has it. I believe he has it as a disc vs download if that makes any difference.
We've tried a few things, trying to find an option to start the update, going into the store manually rather than through minecraft, and so on. I suggested uninstalling the game and seeing if the reinstall will force the update, but he hasn't had a chance to try that yet.
Anywho, I was just wondering if anyone else had run into or heard of anything like that or, if not, if I could get a point in the right direction to get some help.
So, yeah, unless your roommate picked up the free copy of Bedrock edition back in late 2017 already and it's just buried in his game list, then they're going to have to pay the $20 to play Bedrock so they can play with family.

Thanks. I'll pass that along.
When I find myself in the middle of a very dense forest and settled myself in, I proceed to deforesting process. Initially I used flint and steel, but man, I realized that a bucket of lava also makes a great forest cleaner!
Also, I even made a lava pit where I would lure monsters and knock them into it. So far, I have yet to find a monster that actually made it out. Of course, whenever I decide to use that, I make sure to bring at least two bucketful of water.
Speaking of which, a bucket of water can make for a very good elevator!
Question, do campfires go out in the rain? They make great beacons (especially with a haybale) so...
Thank you! :)

Nope. Campfire fires don't go out in the rain, just like Netherrack fires.
Update: Campfires only make good beacons with high render distance and a lot of glowstone and lanterns.
So I'm almost done with village improvement projects. Built a fourm and a big tower for my house. Starting work on a well and a fountain for this village which for some reason lacks them (while having three horse stable thingies).
The wall and accompanying gates are coming along nicely.
The only problem is that for some reason all my villagers died except for the Armorer (and not in a raid). Anyone else have this problem? I "borrowed" a stack of villager spawn eggs from creative so all my work isn't for nothing.

Could have been a zombie siege, but I've also had a really bothersome glitch where entire swaths of persistent mobs just randomly despawn if I've been travelling away for long periods of time, including villagers, pets, and livestock.
Has anyone ever noticed how villages will have a color scheme? Like one taiga village I found has purple beds and carpet, but my village has yellow beds (no carpet though).
Current level: 60.

I think I spent too much time farming.

Did some experimenting, and I'm surprised how good the results turned out! I've never done a 2◊3 piston gate, so I decided to try it out with my own spin. By combining a XOR gate with an AND gate, I managed to make a piston door that could be opened and closed with a lever from either side, but also had a second lever on the inside that completely locks the door if turned off, so that the door will never open no matter how many times you flick the XOR levers. This means that whenever I'm in my base, I can lock anybody else from coming in.
I almost got it to work on my first try, and with one or two tweaks it was working perfectly! I know it's pretty minor compared to other redstone contraptions, but I'm still proud for getting something I've never tried before!
They're welcome to try. My walls are lined with lava.

They can still dig their way in, you know.
One thing I once experimented with was an underground base with a 2x3x2 entrance on a dirt hillside where the outer layer is dirt to camouflage the entrance and the external button is hidden behind shrubbery. They can still find it if they know where to look, but finding it at random is unlikely unless you make the mistake of keeping animals inside.
BEES have been added to the game!
