tfw you find a Village with a Pillager outpost right next to it.
1.14 Java snapshot 19w13a has removed all references to Markus "notch" Persson from the game.
Anyone know a good Star Trek mod? I'm on a kick.
Good call from Microsoft, he's brand poison.
Did Notch do anything specific this time, or is it just the culmination of all his twitter activity?
Has to be the latter.
New version is out.
Decided to recreate my original launch world and...ha, it's so comically different. Can't remember what I used for the world seed but I started once on a hill by a river which was eventually converted into a swamp biome. Now? A forest off of some beautiful mountains.
Going to go for a gothic castle up there.
Did they change world generation as a whole again, or just add bamboo forests, new villages, and pillager outposts?
What I wanna know is, if I play an old world, am I gonna get malformed biomes when loading new chunks?

The latter, as well as a ton of new blocks and other things I'm too lazy to list.
I don't remember which patch, but I believe they fixed the issie with world generation. You are going to need to load up new chunks in an old world to find some of the new biomes.
Yep, managed to find bamboo jungles, berry bushes, a Pillager Outpost, foxes, and pandas.
There's not actually any purpose to foxes and pandas other than cute scenery, right? No sense trying to corral them back to my deep-sea trench base.
Foxes might be useful in berry, chicken and rabbit farms and pandas drop bamboo, but outside of that, nothing else I can think of.

1.13 slightly changed world generation, in regards to variant biomes. A regular Jungle pre-1.13 may be a Mutated Jungle (formerly known as Jungle M) post-1.13. Eroded Badlands (former Mesa Bryce) may become Badlands Plateau. And, if a chunk gets reset, you may encounter something like this if your plain Savanna should now be a Shattered Savanna (former Savanna M) with the new generation.
However, you'll never see somewhere near as drastic as during the 1.7 transition. When loading new chunks, at most you're going to encounter a different version of the same biome that existed before.
It's too soon to say if 1.14 does the same, but most likely the same situation will happen with jungles.
Yeah, the newly-loaded chunks have all been fine, even bamboo forests.
Incidentally, due to the changes to village mechanics, my secret underwater trench lair now counts as a village due to the large number of hostage Villagers I have.
Which means cats keep randomly spawning inside my base. This is not a bad thing. Yet.
So you're no longer obligated to have exterior doors to have a village, any idea how it works now?
Beds and workstations.
Which is somewhat frustrating if you live close to a village (or have one in your base) because the Villagers will start detecting your own composters, brewing stands, beds, ect. and try to claim them as their own.
Came back from a long stay at an Ocean Monument (converted it to a grinder) to find that a lot of the friendly mobs in my base (all my dyed sheep, villagers, rabbits, parrots, and cats, and half of my turtles and fish) were simply gone.
I just respawned them all via commands because if the game is gonna cheat I'm gonna cheat right back, but I'd like to know how this happened. I think chunks might have had something to do with it, because the turtle pen sits on a chunk border and only some of them despawned while others persisted.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened, half my villagers once randomly disappeared after I was away from base for a long time on a different server.

Minecraft Earth, mobile AR game, announced
Double post, but forgot to mention, Classic 0.0.11a launched to the public 10 years ago yesterday.
Story Mode will be completely delisted and unavalible to download even if you own it on all platforms it currently exists on after June 25th.
Well that is some bullshit. Is it really that much of a burden to keep the files available for download?
When the company behind it went out of business, I think so.
That's okay, though, since it's all over youtube.
Yeah, but the storefronts it's sold on are still up. They can leave it available for download without selling new copies; it's been done before.
Apparently there's a licensing dispute issue between Microsoft/Mojang and what's left of Telltale, so that's why it won't be available for download.
So with 1.14 I'm decommissioning my old villager breeder/trading hall, and building a new one a little further away.
Does anybody have any good designs they'd like to share? This doesn't need to be a high-end thing with hundreds of Villagers or automatic movement systems or anything, just a hall to keep 13 Villagers— one of each profession —in a nice cozy area where I can trade with them at will.
Confining them so they can't move around would be ideal, but does an inability to reach beds or each other negatively impact their work?

While I don't have a design for you, I do have some tips from just reading over the wiki.
You only need one bed to create a village so villagers can claim a job block, but you don't need a bed for each villager.
Each villager will need a profession block so they can speed up their time between locking you out of trades and letting you trade again.
