Don't think of it as a Hopeless Boss Fight- think of it as an awesome chase sequence! The first one to dive under a Sheet of Glass gets kudos.
They assed first. I am only retaliating in an ass way. -The Dead Man's LifeUnless he's got some sort of super hax speed enchantment that Thunt just made up right now, he's going to be a Mighty Glacier, yes.
Also, I'm supporting the
that Kore is hiding something nasty under that visor.

They assed first. I am only retaliating in an ass way. -The Dead Man's LifeWhy do they always do that head jerk to the side when they cry, as if they are looking up?
Read my stories!Dammit, Thunt is Tear Jerker-ing us again. I hate when he does that. Three of the GAP are now crippled in some way, and it's looking very much like attrition is about to claim one for good.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Doncha just hate it when Reality Ensues? Who knew injuries would actually incapacitate people?
They assed first. I am only retaliating in an ass way. -The Dead Man's LifeEspecially since it's a big departure from standard D&D rules. I remember reading in an RPG guidebook somewhere that critical hits and fumbles are always weighted against the PCs, because they have a lot more to lose. In the end it doesn't matter how many mooks die, or even if the BBEG dies to a lucky crit, because the players will move onto the next fight or the next adventure. But when a PC dies to an unlucky fumble or crit, it's much more dramatic.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't actually think Chief is going to die here. We know his crown has some sort of significance thanks to it bearing the same emblem as Saral Caine's belt, and for some reason I'm expecting that to mean something to Kore.
Of course, it could just be incredibly wishful thinking on my part. Still, even with Thunt's predilection for sad, meaningless deaths, I don't think he'd let the first party goblin to die go out totally incapacitated.
Ears is fucking awesome and blatant proof that Lawful Good does not have to equal Lawful Stupid. That is all.
Chief already got a ton of character development, and his big problem (i.e. not actually being a chief) is almost solved (i.e. he's the party leader now). He's pretty vulnerable to a dramatic death right now.
That's how it works- to avoid death, a character has to be interesting enough to not be a Red Shirt, but not fleshed-out enough to have a resolved character arc and thus be considered disposable for cheap reader tears.
They assed first. I am only retaliating in an ass way. -The Dead Man's LifeChief is the party leader? I don't know, I'd been seeing more either Thaco or Ears in that role. Chief's mostly just been going along with things thus far, he didn't even want to do the adventurer thing in the first place. I hardly consider his character arc touched, let alone over. We know he isn't satisfied with his lot in life, not after witnessing his explosion back in Brassmoon when he asked his god for one little favor to make up for the crapshoot his life's been up to this point, and he didn't get it. Chief's always made due with his lot, but the issue isn't resolved. It's just not in the foreground.
Don't get me wrong, there's at least an even chance chance he really is going to die here. I'm just really desperate for him not to.
Oh yeah, if you want innocence destroyed on level with Littlefoot's mother dying, call Thunt.
Fight smart, not fair.I didn't feel as moved by this one as I'm probably supposed to...
Chief making an incredibly coherent and verbose speech after having his spine shattered pushed into Narm territories for me. Maybe the disconnect between his injuries and his behaviour is supposed to be another reminder that this takes place in a game of Dungeons And Dragons, but it comes off as expository writing and a Major Injury Underreaction.

He got healed. Like Complains' arm, he's not in any real physical pain right now, and his Hit Points are restored, but he's paraplegic.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I wanna call Like You Would Really Do It. Most deaths come from no names or briefly named ones. I honestly wonder if he has the guts to do it.
My only goal in life is to ensure that Mousa dies of a stress-induced heart attack by the age of 23. READ THISOh yes he would. At the very least, Chief is going to stay paraplegic for the rest of the story arc, and have to be used as an elaborate artillery platform, possibly being carted around in a little red wagon.
Thunt is trying to get it into our thick skulls that war and combat are not glorious, that people actually get hurt when they hurt each other. If your'e in love with the carnage, your'e doing it wrong.

If Kore get's Heel–Face Turn'd by the axe, I'd be disappointed. But I expect Thunt to come up with something better.
