The Resolution Will Not Be Televised is about production issues (a cancelled work resolving through another medium), so I nominate it for the crowner.

Self-Plagiarism looks like a Trivia, since it's about a creator recycling elements of their own works.

Although I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine describes scenes that take place within a work, it points out that the reason such scenes are notable has to do with behind-the-scenes aspects.

A "prior professional relationship" means that the actors have produced another work together. Casting Gag is a form of Shout-Out.

[up] It also needs some work. The description and many examples seem to assume a lot of knowledge on the reader's part of how these actors are connected, with little context given.

Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.

Yeah, a problem common with Shout-Out tropes. That and assuming a reference is intended when it's just coincidence or mutually referencing a third work.

Is Censor Decoy trivia? Since it's things that are like What Could Have Been, but instead What Was Sacrificed To The Radar?

Post-Release Retitle (a supertrope) is a trivia item, but only one of its subtropes (Completely Different Title) is on the Trivia index. Surely the rest should be, too?

One-Book Author: This trope is about an author who made only one work, which sounds like it's Trivia. 117 of its 392 wicks are already from Trivia namespace.

Regarding Man of a Thousand Voices, I found an example with Ayunda Risu, in this case there's no knowledge of the actor's real identity. It seems to be listed because of her actor's vocal range within a single character.

Real Soon Now seems like it ought to be trivia, since it's about creators' attitude towards a release date more than anything in the work.

I don't know if it has been mentioned, but I recently spotted the trope Associated Composer - which despite stating that it's a subtrope of a trivia trope, and talking about behind-the-scenes stuff, has no marker that it's a trivia trope.

I would argue that Real Song Theme Tune, currently considered Trivia, should not be considered Trivia.

The definition of Trivia used in this thread is "Stuff that can't be determined just by consuming the associated work," but a Real Song Theme Tune is usually identifiable as such the second a viewer encounters it, provided they're familiar with the original song—a viewer doesn't need to be told that the work is using a pre-existing song in the same way that they'd need to be told who a Pop-Star Composer was. Also, if a work elects to use a pre-existing song as its theme song, it's usually because the song is thematically relevant to the work in some way. For example, Finding Nemo uses "Beyond the Sea" as its theme, and it's both nautically-themed and involves the singer's loved one being a literal ocean away from them. Thus, using a real song is often an artistic, narrative choice done to evoke a specific feeling within a work. In addition, they fact that the audience knows the song from outside the work means a creator can use the song as "shorthand".

Their uses and applications just seem so darn narrative that I think they're tropes, not trivia.

Midseason Replacement is about a show that replaces another during the latter's run. The examples section is problematically marked as "inversions", but if this is Trivia then we can fix that uncontroversially.

I just launched Denial of Digital Distribution, which is about the distribution (well, lack thereof) of a work. I'm pretty sure it should be Trivia.

By the way, should I wait with Cross Wicking the examples until it has been determined whether Denial of Digital Distribution is Trivia? It'd be a pain to put a bunch of examples on work/Trivia pages, only to have to move them to Trivia/work pages later.

[up] You should have figured out whether to make it Trivia before you launched it.

[down] Oh, in that case then yes, just index it on Trivia. Sorry, your wording confused me.

[up] I had decided to make it trivia. The draft had "(Trivia)" in its name (I only removed it for the launch), and none of the tropers who commented on it objected to making it a Trivia item. Does that mean I can just go ahead and add it to the Trivia index? I thought I had to go to this thread to double-check because the index says, "Before adding or removing anything from it, please take the time to discuss it in this forum thread."

[up] Edit: Thanks for the response, and sorry about the confusing wording.

This ATT query asked why Dummied Out isn't Trivia, and I brought it up about a year ago and apparently was one of many people to do so. Should we go ahead and just add it to the crowner?

Edit: Oh, never mind. It was already there; I missed it because it was at the bottom. I asked people in the ATT thread to vote here so we can finally get Dummied Out out of the way.

I have been thinking for a while that it might be time to retire this thread and send further requests to the Trope Repair Shop. It's only barely active and changing tropes to Trivia is often quite a large change. We already retired the YMMV bannering thread years ago for the same reason.
