Anything that has its own page but not an Icon at the top of the page should be done this way.... (or else no one will ever find it.)

[up] What she said. We're not going to choke the Scott Pilgrim Trivia page with one trope.

I think the adaptation tropes should stay on the main. They're more in work and a lot of times since adaptations share pages with the main work it's more relevant to put things that were changed there to show the differences between the two works.

Ascended Fanboy looks like a legit trope to me. You sure you weren't thinking of Promoted Fanboy?

If Ascended Meme goes, then should Memetic Mutation, Memetic Sex God, and Memetic Badass go? I realize they're not the same, but they're even less related to the work than Ascended Meme.

I think a bunch of these suggestions go too far. IMO, if the trope is readily visible in the finished work (even if it might require a bit of outside knowledge), it should stay on Main. Trivia should be for the truly behind-the-scenes stuff that you'd really have no way of knowing about without an "outside" source to tell you.

For instance, Take That! is part of the work, even if you might need a passing familiarity with the work they're making fun of to fully get it.

By that definition, wouldn't Hey, It's That Voice stay on the main page?

Not that I disagree about Take That! not really being trivia, which is why I voted that one down.

The reason that Hey Its That Guy and Hey Its That Voice are getting relegated to Trivia is because they are unrelated to the work itself. The fact that some [voice] actors are recognizable is not a trope, it's an interesting factoid that apparently turns people all gushy, and it has become a kind of wiki meme in which people try to compete to make up witty bullet points that distract from the purpose of the articles.

Edit: Ascended Fanboy is an in-story trope. It definitely doesn't belong. You're confusing it with Promoted Fanboy.

Killer App seems as much a subjective trope as it is trivia to me.

Maybe we should make an exception in the case actor/creator-associated tropes for their personal pages. They are basically trivia already for the wiki's purposes.

Killer App is only subjective in how many sales it takes to be "killer." You can easily prove that console sales went up when a game comes out and that sales for a game are really high, after all.

EDIT: Also, I'm aware that's why Hey, It's That Voice is going on Trivia. What I'm pointing out is that we need a better definition of what makes something Trivia or not, since just "not visible in the work" means that a lot of tropes that are probably Trivia would not be, and "visible in the work without outside research" excludes a lot of tropes that are clearly Trivia.

I just added the ones that were suggested. I agree that Take That! is more in work though. Looking at the tropes, Promoted Fanboy was what we wanted. Stupid similar names.

[up][up]"A game so good that it's considered a must-own if you have the system it's released for" sounds like something that should be in Sugar Wiki to me, but whatever.

As for making a singular definition for Trivia tropes, that probably won't work out. Better to go on a case-by-case basis than to miss something or include something that doesn't belong.

I feel Follow the Leader and Expy should stay in Main. After all the inspiration for a work/character is more important than most factoids. Provided, of course, you can be sure it's not a coincidence.

Edit: Same for Shout-Out and Actor Allusion.

Follow the Leader is usually fine, but I find people tend to use Expy a little too liberally and include any character with a resemblance, regardless of if there is any reason to suspect that it's an actual Expy of that character.

If we don't move it to Trivia, we need a widespread cleanup of Expy, methinks.

EDIT: And regarding the long bulleted lists for Hey, It's That Voice, I've seen similar long, bulleted lists crop up for Expy.

Should Talking To Himself be on the list? The way I see it, it can go both ways depending on whether it's a live action or voice acting example, since the latter will not even be noticed by most people.

I think Expy is fine where it is. If that goes there are about 50 other related character tropes too such as Char Clone and such.

I don't think Character based tropes are trivia they should be on the character pages.
