Well, in their defense:
- A) Present-day Studio Gainax is a shriveled old husk of what it used to be, what with all of its noteworthy members having high-tailed out of it to make their own studios.
- B) Production I.G. is, if I'm not mistaken, one of the go-to names for high quality anime.
Now, can we please stop getting off-topic with FLCL and get back to anxiously waiting for the inevitable PSG announcement?

Wait, really?! Aw, gotdang it! Now I feel like a blockhead...
Anyway, let's see what we got:
- A new original sci-fi television anime titled DARLING in the FRANKXX, a co-production with A-1 Pictures. The staff will be announced in Japan on July 5.
- Gridman, a collaboration with Tsuburaya Productions, directed by Akira Amemiya. The series will have an original story unrelated to the earlier Denkō Chōjin Gridman live-action tokusatsu series.
- Promare, an original work and collaboration with X Flag. Kill la Kill director and writer Hiroyuki Imaishi and Kazuki Nakashima are teaming again for the new project, which the staff mentioned will be similar in tone to Kill la Kill and Gurren Lagann. The key visual was illustrated by Shigeto Koyama. The staff mentioned that they have been working on the project for four years.
Huh. On the upside, I remember TRIGGER did a short for Japan Animator Expo called Gridman, so this must be the result of that short.
All right everyone, false alarm. Apparently PSG S2 isn't happening. Sorry if I got you all worked up...

I don't understand why they teased it and then it amounted to nothing with the Teddy Loid tweets. Even last year it amounted to something even if it was a cafe. Can't wait for Promare though.

I had to look up whether it actually was being called that and...yeah, Anime News Network is also calling it Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad Gridman.
I'm still kinda bummed about no PSG 2, but I will admit the Gridman short TRIGGER did back in 2015 still kicks ass:
Plus, I never grew up with the original SSSS, so maybe this might work out after all. The fact that they're using "Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad" tells me TRIGGER is somewhat aware of how Gridman was interpreted in international shores, so maybe they're trying to make this for both Gridman and ''Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad" fans?
And while part of me seriously doubts they'd get the likes of Tim Curry for the dub, I don't think it'd be improbable that the English VA who does get whatever Curry's role was to do his best Curry impression.
I hate the ending, but I have to admire what they pulled off.
While it was running, nobody would have been surprised if it ended like other Gainax shows, no answers, more questions, no real resolution and the plot tied up in so many knots it would be impossible to resolve it. For a surreal comedy, it would not even have been inappropriate.
Instead, the last two episodes played out as close to a conventional ending as a show like this could get, drawing on a lot of subtle foreshadowing. It looked like we would get a Gainax show with proper closure. Then the last thirty seconds hit... (and drew again on foreshadowed elements no-one would have suspected).
I hate the result, but how they subverted expectations both times was certainly clever.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years. In addition to being a hilarious show, I credit Panty and Stocking with being the first time I really started paying attention to voice actors. I was like "Hey cool, that's Masane from Witchblade! Oh, and Stocking is Bulma!... I should actually learn their names" And I did. Jamie Marchi's one of my favorite VAs, and Monica Rial, though not in my most top tier, is also one I really enjoy.

This show is one where I only watch the dub.
My favorite is Stocking. I think her snark makes her the funniest.
Favorite episodes I recall are the one where they had to destroy…tapes featuring Panty, the one where they gambled, the one with the zombies, and the one where they are on trial.
(Also I’m now imagining what would happen in a hypothetical South Park crossover. Like having the South Park characters interact with the main characters of this show.)

Nah the FLCL sequel was announced over a year ago.
