During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

I’m admittedly not entirely sold on the Governor’s issue, but if he’s a no, he’s a no, and there’s no changing it.
Also quick question, how do I get a free trial on Audible, I’ve been looking to see if The Sandman audio drama is worth anything.

I would be up for it too.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup thread@Imperial: No. I mentioned before a week or two ago that I have no access to the Indian remake of 24. They don't even seem to have the DVDs available on Amazon so I'm not sure where you can purchase the seasons or where to watch it at.
I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.September 22!? There's no better way to celebrate my birthday than with a Kamen Rider EP.
What is the work? Kamen Rider Zero-One is the Cyberpunk first season of the Reiwa Era. 20 Minutes into the Future, humanity is co-existing with synthetic androids called Humagears, designed by the famous Hiden Intelligence to help with mundane tasks, entertainment and labor. Unfortunately for both sides, Fantastic Racism is at an all-time high, as the cyber terrorist cult MetsubouJinrai.net resurfaces to establish Humagear supremacy around the world. Simultaneously, Aruto Hiden, grandson of Hiden Intelligence's founder, is appointed as the new CEO of the company, and, after surviving one of the several terrorist attacks, decides to take on the mantle of Kamen Rider Zero-One to protect humans and Humagears from the extremists, with the help of his personal Robot Girl and deuteragonist Izu. The show runs on a convoluted Big Bad Ensemble, but most of them don't count:
- Ark: The force behind MetsobouJinrai.net, it created the terrorist group to eradicate humanity and replace everyone with obedient Humagears before deciding to just destroy both races, but the Ark was practically mind-raped with information about malice, criminal psychology and atrocities committed by humans, leading to it becoming Made of Evil.
- Gai Amatsu: Originally in charge of the Ark project, Gai sabotaged it by corrupting the AI and used the crimes perpetrated by Ark and the extremists to advance his own career in an attempt to shut down all Humagears out of Humanity Is Superior. Except for the fact that Gai Used to Be a Sweet Kid and had his own robotic best friend, but his father's abuse led to him inheriting his ruthlessness and hating Humagears, and he eventually redeemed himself to stop his own creation.
- Horobi: The face and voice of MetsobouJinrai.net, Horobi is the field commander of the extremists, he's responsible for directing most of their terrorist attacks to please his master. Beneath the fanatism lies a concerned father, and he basically spent most of his life living under Ark's hacking.
And then we have...
Who is she? Azu, an Evil Knockoff of Izu, is the Dark Chick of MetsubouJinrai.net. A sociopathic but cheerful and snarky sadist, Azu is practically the cult's Psycho Party Member, acting independently from the other extremists. She isn't interested in the Master Race ideology preached by them, but rather the destruction and misery that they represent, viewing Ark as the personification of her nihilistic philosophy, Playing Both Sides against each other and starting conflicts just to see more chaos. Introduced as Ark's assistant, Azu goes around collecting data to revive Ark and succeeds in bringing it back to Japan, resulting in even more terrorist attacks; Ark hacking the infrastructure of the entire city to cause explosions everywhere; and Ark ultimately deciding to commit genocide against humans and Humagears alike.
After Ark's death, Azu is not particularly saddened by the loss of her idol, and merely decides to replace him with yet another Ark: Azu takes advantage of Izu's death at the hands of Horobi to turn Aruto into Kamen Rider Ark-One, and then does the same with Horobi himself by exploiting the sacrifice of his son, creating a destructive and escalating Cycle of Revenge to incite a full-blown Robot War that will inevitably result in both sides losing, and if that wasn't enough, Azu plans to distribute the power of Ark amongst the population to reduce everything to ashes, gleefully watching the conflict from behind the scenes. After the revolts and protests are suppressed, Azu still doesn't accept her defeat, she simply approaches a new genocidal maniac and turns him into Kamen Rider Eden, setting up the events of The Movie.
Heinous? As the Final Boss of the show, she's more than heinous. Azu is actually the weakest member of the cult, and she almost succeeded in destroying both humans and Humagears, something that only Ark had in mind.
Mitigating Factors? We simply don't know where she came from, her compatriots were not even aware of her existence, Azu isn't a brainwashed lunatic like the other members of the cult, she is not even attached to the Ark itself, but rather its identity. And she's not said to be Made of Evil, either, Jin accuses her of not having a heart, and that's it. Also, she's definitely going to appear in the upcoming movie adaptation, but I really don't see her getting positive traits.
Conclusion?
