Complete Monster Cleanup Thread

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

    Effortpost template
What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

[up][up][up]Can the entry be rewritten then? To make it clear that only 3 out of four is clear cut Monsters at the start of the entry? Because, like it is, it kinda looks awkward.

@Bull: Gah that gives so little info and skips over his worst deeds. I can rewatch and give him a proper more detailed ep here if everyone wants.

My second Anno Dracula post, from the last of Kim Newman's 'Christina Light' trilogy...taking place in Japan. It's 1999, and the millennium is ending. Y2k is on everyone's mind...Christina Light plans to Ascend, becoming a godlike being to create world peace....the farewell bash is planned in Daikaiju, a building shaped to look like a dragon, with a strange young hacker about named Hal Takayama...let's discuss our baddie: Jun Zero.

Who is Jun Zero?

A chaos-loving, sadistic hacker, Jun Zero spends his time online screwing with and hurting people. He ruins lives, exposes information, steals and even causes murders. In one instance, he even steals money from an orphanage and distributes it to billionaires. But his sadism can't really be contained at all. Jun Zero uploads his consciousness into a microchip that he keeps with the hand of Hal Takayama, guiding him along....Hal ends up along with the heroes of the Diogenes Club, chiefly the vampire bodyguard Nezumi....terrorists take over the Daikaiju, leading to a real bad situation for a lot of people.

But...Jun Zero is letting it all play out, to hijack control of Christina's ascension before the terrorist leader (Dracula's brother Radu) can. Jun reveals himself, as a digitized form to seize it, where he takes control of the world's systems. Jun instantly has access to...everything, debating to launch missiles, mess with systems to kill tons of people, but elects against it. Rather, by becoming a god, Jun Zero will instead turn the world into his personal and eternal killing field.

Everything and everyone will be trapped, humanity all but extinct while Jun Zero is able to torture them. Forever, in a trapped, digitized state while he reigns over it as a god, killing and torturing everything else for eternity. Lured into a trap before he pulls it off, however, Nezumi kind of 'redirects' his destination...and lets him ascend, uploading himself to the grid as midnight hits...but without the right protections as the grids reset with the new millennium. Jun Zero? Ends up launching himself into oblivion, frying his own mind and erasing him from existence.

Heinousness?

See above? Turning all mankind to his personal kill and torture camp? What else is there to it? Easy pass here, Jun Zero's a nightmare and one of the worst of the Anno Dracula series.

Mitigating Qualities?

None. His personal is well fleshed out and he's gleefully mocking to Nezumi, as his 'mouse,' while the narration describes his thought process plenty along the way.

conclusion?

Bog easy keeper.

I read it like 3 times and I'm still confused. Did he PLAN to take control of the world's systems at midnight, or had he already taken control and he was gonna be...even more powerful at midnight?

Alright, here are my write-ups:

  • Sleepless (2017): Rob Novak is the son of a powerful mob boss, who first establishes himself by torturing his own cousin about the whereabouts of his stolen drug shipments before ripping out his tongue, killing him. He later meets up with casino owner, Stanley Rubino, demanding he retrieve his stolen drugs, showing the severed tongue to Rubino threatening to do the same to him before attempting to kill Rubino after growing impatient with him. When Novak see Vincent Downs and his son Thomas escaping Rubinoís captivity and hiding in a crowd of people, he shoots at uncaring if he kills any innocence, eventually gunning them down and nearly killing Downs.
  • Solar Opposites: The Duke is amongst the many people the alien Yumyulack shrunk down and sent to The Wall where he forcibly takes charge, becoming a monstrous dictator. The Duke would oppressive the rest of the people in The Wall, subjecting them to slave labor, hoarding food and supplies that Jesse would give them, and murdering those who rebel against him. When Pedro pleads for insulin for his dying father, The Duke responds by decapitating the boy before manipulating his father against the resistance led by Tim, where then forces Tim to watch as he throws Tim's lover down a bottomless pit. When Tim breaks free from The Dukeís imprisonment and rallies the denizens of The Wall against him, The Duke The Wall flooded to drown everyone in their while he escapes, killing countless people.

Well that makes The Duke my 2nd CM from Western Animation, and my first one coming from an adult cartoon. Perhaps I might get luck and find more (I might even find one from South Park[lol])

One more now...I waffled a bit, but...from the first book, he's a minor character but holy hell. Enter Vardalek.

Who is Vardalek?

A vampire who takes a most reptilian form, Vardalek is a Magyar from Hungary, a member of the Carpathian Guard who's good at toadying up to Dracula and the rest...however, Vardalek has a new nasty secrets. Namely that he's a pedophile, rapist and serial murderer. First encountered on the street when he and his associates are doing business with a fellow named Woodbridge, Vardalek takes a liking to the man's little son Georgie and offers to buy him. When the man protests, von Klatka says he should be honored his 'plumptious' boy could excite the passions of a distinguished vampire. Vardalek promptly seizes the boy, whispering disturbing endearments with his intentions very obvious...until Genevieve intervenes, and being older than they are, beats down Vardalek to save the boy in a humiliating episode.

Vardalek later tries to arrange for Genevieve's murder, but largely disappears until one of his subordinates named Orlando alerts Captain Kostaki of the Carpathians to Vardalek's predilections...sodomy is a crime punishable by death in Dracula's Britain, and Kostaki heads to investigate...finding the corpse of a little boy, while Vardalek in the midst of raping and biting another in reptilian form...something, btw, that is utterly routine for him. Kostaki has Vardalek arresed, noting if they let him off, Vlad would have them impaled when he learned. Having Orlando also impaled for betraying a superior, Kostaki sentences Vardalek to impalement, but ensures that as a professional courtesy, it'll be quick.

Heinousness? Mitigating issues?

Vardalek is a serial child molester and murderer. Now we don't see much, but we see enough. He attempts to rape and murder Georgie in a firmly disturbing scene with the crying boy in his lap as he purrs and nibbles on him, and later the corpse of a little boy is seen while Vardalek is violating another with it being made clear this is...routine for him. Vardalek isn't really given any good traits, just thanking Kostaki for making his death quicker than he deserves and remarking "what's a few boys, more or less?" This is...pretty unique in the series, as no other vampire I can recall is a serial child molester and killer.

Conclusion?

Unless I missed something, I'd give Vardalek a pretty clear yes.

[tup]Vardalek

Since it is cited as a solution by people, who answer, here is my slight rewrite:

Ripper: The Ripper, who, depending on each playthrough, can be either Detective Vince Magnotta, Dr. Claire Burton or hacker Joey Falconetti, is a Serial Killer who feels inspired by the original Jack the Ripper. The Ripper uses the computer technology of 2047 to murder many people and make the murders untraceable and as graphic as possible, using a form of bio-engineering to raise the victim's internal pressure to the point that their organs explode. When Catherine Powell tracks The Ripper down, The Ripper sends her into a coma.

I forgot about this dude since his Kotsaki ended up giving h in a very dignified death.

Tbf well he's the only pedophile. Alot of Drac's minions are rapists they just don't target kids.

Anyway I just experienced a loss of another family member. God What a crap week

[up]Drac hates gays. Most of his minions are rapists and he's one too. This is just him being a bigot.
