Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Oh yeah this is a day late but no one counts in Knives Out, the big bad has two murders (admittedly very painful ones), burns down an empty building, and nearly kills the main character after trying to frame her. I wouldn't say that's enough to pass the baseline.

Hope your prepared for an unforgettable luncheon

Here's someone new from Crypt TV.

The Birch is the latest monster in the Crypt TV roster to get their own series; she is an tree based Humanoid Abomination presented as a protective motherly figure in her short. However her series is significantly longer in terms of epsiode length and binge watching. It also doesn't air on Youtube, but Facebook Watch.

The series goes back and forth between two different plots, one about a teenage mother who's controlling adoptive family is trying to keep her and her daughter separated - spoiler alert, the girl turns out to be The Birch in human form, her subplot is set in 1995, is left largely unexplained and barely connected to the main storyline. The actual storyline set in the present day, focuses on Evie Grayson, a teenage girl and aspiring witch who is grieving the loss of her mother (who as her tombstone reads, died on my birthday). Evie's small town home has this problem; its under control of a drug gang and when she witnesses a man being murdered by this gang, she is intimidated into silence. Sick that no one seems to be doing anything about this, Evie learns the means of summoning the Birch, hoping to use her to take revenge on her captors. But of course there's a price that must be paid...

Anyways the Birch herself doesn't count do to having redeeming qualities and being near alien when it comes to morality and human emotions. The human antagonist of the series, is a pretty nasty contender though. Allow me to introduce Sebastian "Seb" Polks.

Who is he ? What does he do ?

Sebastian "Seb" Polks is a brutish thug and gang leader who is responsible for the crime wave in his town, and many homeless and squatters camp around town to get their fix. He also has the police in his pocket and if that wasn't bad enough, he has laced his drugs with painkillers to make them more addictive. In turn this causes many addicts to die from overdoses, one of them being Evie's mother. In public he runs a hardware store and mechanics shop, where he runs his operations from.

Seb has his teenage and kid nephews Thurston and Gavin living with them. He has Thurston working as a drug mule, and made a deal with him to keep Gavin out of the business - not that it stops him from trying to groom Gavin into another drug mule. Seb frequently beats and maims Thurston whenever he crosses or fails him. Behind Seb's back, Thurston and Gavin are taking a cut to fund their plans to escape to California. It's also implied later on that he got the brothers father thrown into jail as a scapegoat prior to the series. Anyways, a would be customer steals a bag from drugs from Thurston, Seb is introduced beating Thurston and forcing him to get the drugs back. This leads to Thurston and his friends accidentally killing the junkie, which Evie witnesses, setting off the main plot of the series.

After being intimidated into silence, Evie summons the Birch to take revenge on the gang, forming a pseudo motherly bond with the creature (which gets complicated later, but that's beside the point). Seb gets word that someone is killing members of his gang, and learns that Evie may be behind them due to rumours that she is a witch, and lures her father out to the highway where he stabs but doesn't kill him as a further indimidation tactic against Evie. It's probably worth noting that his method of getting info out of Thurston is beating him...using needles and pins as a makeshift brass knuckle.

In the penultimate episodes, Seb discovers that Thurston and Gavin are planning on running away and have been hoarding money from him. In retaliation, Seb takes the two brothers captive and plans on forcing Thurston to kill Evie. He threatens to have Gavin's mouth mutilated for Thurston's compliance. They break into Evie's house, cornering, beating and subduing her father. Seb puts a gun in Thurston's hand and literally forces his hand to shoot and execute Evie's father. The attempt on Evie backfires when the Birch attacks, forcing Seb to flee, leaving Thurston to die. Realizing they are effectively screwed, Seb prepares to skip town, and Thurston decides he's had enough and calls the police confessing to the killings. Thurston goes to confront Seb at his store, when Seb attempts to kill the two brothers with an electric saw, managing to maim them both before Evie comes to the rescue and sics the Birch onto him, causing a tree to grow inside and rip apart Seb's entire body.

Redeeming Qualites or Freudian Excuse ?

Diddly fucking squat.

His personality is that of a power hungry crime boss, and abusive uncle to his nephews. He doesn't care that his drugs are getting people killed, is a violent thug and his only concern about members of his gang dying is the effects it could take on his business.

As mentioned above he is a horrendously abusive uncle to Thurston, using him as a drug mule, beating and maiming him at every slight or failure. Thurston's kid brother Gavin seems to be a mutual Morality Pet of the two...until we see Seb trying Gavin despite promising Thurston to keep him out of the business. Later on, Seb drops all pretence of caring about Gavin by threatening to mutilate him, having a pair of sheers held up to the kids mouth to make Thurston complicit in trying to kill Evie. In Seb's own words "See ? That's what I'd do to someone I love...you ? I don't even like." And by the end of it all, things nothing of trying to kill the two brothers with an electric saw.

Heinous Standard

So in the Crypt TV universe, the heinous standard is pretty high and usually set by especially powerful and eldritch monsters. The Birch herself is no exception and is stated to be one of the "Divine Beings of Darkness" mentioned in Sunny Family Cult. As for the Birch herself, she doesn't have a chance at counting do to having redeeming qualities -mainly genuinely caring about her baby, and wailing over her baby dying- and an alien grasp on human morality and emotion. The Birch kills about dozen people on screen both in the main narrative and her "human" flashbacks; this includes causing her adoptive human mother (long story) to miscarry as a child; the Birch's adoptive mother also has her baby put down. The Birch also tries to bury a Gavin alive at one point, and mutate a girl who tried to witch hunt and harass Evie with mushrooms - both instances she backs down from when Evie tells her too. Also the Birch ends up taking Evie away at the end of the season, something I hope leads gets picked up in the second season, considering Evie is one of those "X deserved better" kind of characters.

Obviously we are going to classify Seb as a human villain, but even then how does he hold up ?

The other human villains mostly consist of typical asshole victims, who don't even cross the baseline. The biggest exceptions are the verses first two CM's, Roger and Micah. Unlike the other two, who have more power and are connected to the supernatural (and in Roger's case, has grand plans for the world). Sebastian is a purely mundane villain, he doesn't even know of the supernatural happenings in this series until the penultimate episodes. He's just a vicious drug boss and is far more nasty than most of the other human villains.

But what does Sebastian do here ? Again, the scenes where he's threatening and maiming his nephews (one of which is a kid) are needless brutal, and his onscreen killing of Evie's father is also especially cruel. Taking his treatment of his nephews into account, I think this may be one of those cases where the "personal" crimes outweigh their larger scale ones. In addition to that, they establish that his drug and gang operations caused an increasing number of deaths by OD's and show this through in universe news reports and a flashback of Evie's mother ODing, a bodycount that almost rivals the Birch's onscreen bodycount.

[tup] Sebastian. Seeing as today is Friday, is it time to discuss The Resurrection of Rose, a fanfic by our very own Austin DR. It is an honestly neat story with plenty of good writing. Now for this story, I have 2 characters to propose, the first of which is the titular villain herself. So, without further ado, let’s get started:

What’s the Work?:

The Resurrection of Rose is fanfic by Austin DR based on the horror film, Doctor Sleep. Taking place sometime after the events of the movie, Abra believed that things were finally back to normal after the death of Rose the Hat, or so she believed. Ok, Rose is indeed dead... That is, until a group of surviving True Knots revived her via a dark ritual. Upon revival, Rose desires one thing and one thing only... Revenge.

Who is Rose the Hat? What does she do?:

Sometime after her death in Doctor Sleep, Rose was revived by some of the surviving true knots via a dark ritual, where Rose establishes her Bad Boss tendencies in this story by killing the leader of said true knots via a kiss that reduces him to dust, showing that she pretty much abandoned her love for the true knots that she had in the film. Rose, with her thoughts being of pure rage at Abra causing her death and ignoring the deaths of the other true knots that died in the film, and wanting revenge only for HER death, then declares herself the new leader of the group. One of the members attempt to refuse her demand along with 3 other true knots, but Rose responds to this by using her powers to make them all 4 of them kneel over in extreme pain, with her saving the blurry man for last, who she kills by shooting his head with her powers, while the other 3 crumble into dust. The remaining 2 true knots members, fearing the same would happen to them if they refuse her, bow before her in fright, while Rose collects the steam from the true knots she killed, which they received from killing children with psychic abilities known as the Shining. Theorizing that collecting more steam would her more powerful than ever, perhaps more so than Abra, she decides to recruit more surviving true knot members to help her in her schemes, knowing that luring one child with the shining wouldn’t be enough. One of the members, Scrappy Meg, tells her of a man named Aldrich Gresley, who leads a child trafficking operation that kidnaps children and murders entire families. After being told by the other member, Lester, than Aldrich’s operation is underground and getting it will take time, Rose immediately heads off to find Aldrich, and tells the two to call her Rose.

Rose and her henchmen arrived at the factory where Aldrich’s operation takes place, which Rose recognizes instantly via the children’s screams, to her complete Lack of Empathy. As Aldrich is hosting an auction where true knots attempt to outbid each other on the kid they want to kill and drain steam from. Just then, Rose appears and ruthlessly murders each of the kids to collect their steam, while also using her dark magic to vaporize a third of the True Knots there when they attempt to stop her, once again showing that she abandoned any care for her own men. Enraged at Rose’s slaughtering of the True Knots, Aldrich orders the guards to seize her, only for Rose to use her dark magic to turn them into dust. An terrified Aldrich attempts to get away, but is quickly caught by Rose. Aldrich begs for his life, which Rose laughs at this and tells him, “You won’t if you do what you’re told.”

Gaining control of the human trafficking operation, Rose pretty much hoards the supply of steam, purposefully starving several True Knots to separate the strong from the weak. Rose would send the strongest of the True Knots to find and spirit away the children and have them placed in machines in which drains the children of their steam via tubes attached to their orifices. The progress causes them extreme pain and obviously kills them, and it’s said by the end of day 1, 12 canisters are filled with steam, which means there were ALOT of kids that died due to this. Weeks later, Rose has selected 30 True Knots that she believes to be more adaptable than the ones close to death due to malnourishment. Several of the True Knots attempt to take some of the steam out of starvation, but they were heavily punished for it, ignoring the fact that they were STARVING.

One day, Rose would gather Aldrich and the other True Knots for a “special event” in which the 30 True Knots Rose had chosen were placed in a air tight sealed room. Rose then reveals that she had been experimenting with steam, and has Lester toss a strange orb into the room. Suddenly, the orb causes the 30 true knots to overcome with a surge of insanity, acting like rabid dogs. Just then, the 30 True Knots attacked each other and started to kill each other violently due to the effects of the Orb. When it was finished, only one of the 30 knots remained, who becomes horrified at what she done as stares at the corpses of her fellow True Knots. An unfazed Rose then reveals the orb to be called the Orb of Madness, which turns True Knots into mindless killing machines, and reveals that her goal is to create an army of True Knots that she can turn into mindless killing machines to unleash on Abra’s town, and that the 30 True Knots were nothing more than test subjects. An enraged Aldrich calls Rose for murdering several of her own kind, but Rose responds to this by having Aldrich look into her hat, which blasts him in the head, before Rose pulls out a small pistol and sadistically shoots Aldrich to death. Turning to the horrified surviving True Knots, Rose then tells Lester she has a special task for him.

Said task was reviving 3 of Rose’s men that died during the movie, Crow Daddy, Barry the Chunk, and Snakebite Andi. Keep in mind, Rose only revived them because she deemed them crucial to her plans, and not of genuine care at all. When Crow Daddy expresses joy at seeing Rose again, Rose shoots dark magic at his feet, with Crow evading it. Rose then states that she only brought them back for one purpose only, helping her with her plans for revenge. When Rose read their minds and figured that they wanted to ask her why she didn’t bring Walnut or Grampa Flick back, Rose states she didn’t want to waste her time bringing those two back and the 3 were lucky that they were even brought back in the first place. Crow Daddy tries to object to this, claiming that they were family, but Rose threatens him with another blast. Rose then reveals to them that this is no longer about collecting steam or living longer. This is about one thing and one thing only... Revenge against Abra. Barry states it’s only just one girl, but Rose yells that she refuses to share a world with the girl that outsmarted and killed her, and that she not only wants to see her dead, but also wants to obliterate her town and kill her family and friends out of pure spite. After threatening Crow Daddy to watch his tone with her or she would make regret the day he crawled out of his mother like a worm, she tells the 3 that Abra is on a school bus and orders Barry to go after her at once.

Barry then attempts to kill Abra and their other kids on the bus, with 99 civilians dying in the attack, but Abra is able to kill him once again. Rose expresses frustration for Barry’s failure, screaming that this is exactly what is talking about. When Crow Daddy states that they should be mourning Barry, Rose brushes him off and coldly states that Barry took Abra lightly and died for it, while showing no remorse for his death. After watching the news with her mother, Abra separates her astral form from her body, and heads to the factory where she she senses a great deal of the Shining and sees Rose rounding up several kids, torturing and killing them, and collecting their steam, and having army of controlled mindless True Knots attacking each other to collect steam as Rose watches. Rose then freezes Abra in place and sadistically greets her. Abra asks Rose why is she even alive, Rose, declaring Abra has no idea how long she waited for this moment, begins torturing her, twisting her limbs. But before Rose could make an attempt to kill her, Abra slams her forehead against Rose and is able to retreat back to her body.

After this, Rose and her henchmen travel to the ruins of the Overlook Hotel, where Rose felt great eldritch power at before coming back to life, crushing the skull of the long dead Danny, with Rose’s only regret is not being to meet the boy when he was young so he could’ve served as a personal cow to keep her fed for a long time. Rose then reveals the hotel itself is alive, and uses the steam to make the hotel rise up in a colossal form made of ashes and burnt material. The hotel demands to know why Rose and her men travel to its domain. Rose then offers a deal to the Hotel, in exchange for helping her in her revenge scheme, she would feed it Abra and a lifetime supply of children so it would never go hungry again. The hotel gleefully accepts the offer, but states the it must feed first. In response to this, Rose sacrifices Lester by letting the hotel devour him, with Scrappy Meg watching in horror as the Hotel gruesomely eats Lester alive. An remorseless Rose then slaps Meg and states if she has another emotional episode like that again, and she would feed her to the hotel as well. After this, Rose starts her alliance with the hotel, telling it to “play a little game” with Abra.

As the Hotel begins to absorb the steam from the containers as the True Knots look in, one of them informs Rose that several of the True Knots have measles, with some of them even disintegrating at random, and states they with their army dwindling in numbers, they will not be able to take down the town in this condition and that they should call the attack off and recuperate. Rose responds to this by killing him with a fire blast to the mouth, and states the attack will go on without any more hiccups. When another True Knot member responds that the just executed member may have a point, Rose responds to this by activating the Orb of Madness in her hat, turning 3 True Knots into mindless killing machines and has them tear the True Knot member that disagreed with her apart, and threatens the same would happen to them if they defied her.

Rose would then send the orb infected True Knots to Abra’s town, commanding them to slaughter everything. The attack on the town that follows results in many bystanders being ripped apart, children being snatched from their parents and killed in horrifying ways, and fire being spread throughout the town. As Rose enjoys the slaughter, Crow Daddy approaches her to report to her that the invasion is going well, and asks what is the purpose of having the Hotel assists in her plans. Rose then reveals that the reason she hates Abra so much is because Abra is the most powerful Shiner, stating that she never felt that kind of power before, all the while sadistically recalling some of the children she killed in the previous years. She then reveals her intentions of merging with the Hotel and becoming the most powerful Shiner in the world. When Crow calls her insane over this, Rose makes him shut up by attacking him.

Meanwhile, the Hotel attacks Abra with the spirits of the people killed by the True Knots, and eventually possesses her and makes her kill her mother by making her fall to her death. By the time Abra is able to break free, the damage had been done and her mother was dead. Rose, having planned this out of sadistic spite, reveals that she was watching the whole event out of sadism. Abra swears to make Rose for what she done, only for Rose to taunt her and reveals that she turned her True Knots into mindless killing machines with the Orb of Madness, reveals that she acquired the assistance of the Overlook Hotel, and reveals her intentions of becoming the most powerful Shiner in all existence, swearing to wreck nightmares throughout the land until everything rots underneath her feet afterwards, promising to save Abra for last before cutting psychic discussion.

Deciding that Rose has went too far, Scrappy Meg, Crow Daddy, and Snakebite Andi decide to help Abra take Rose down for good, with Crow Daddy going to find Abra, telling the girls to make sure Rose does not goes through the portal should anything happen to him. After Abra’s uncle Danny is able to help Abra understand her mother’s death was not her fault, that she was the daughter he never had, and that someone will help her in her mission to stop Rose, Crow Daddy, who is that said someone, arrives at her house, and tells her that they will have to join forces to stop Rose from wiping out all of humanity out of petty revenge, with Abra reluctantly accepting his offer. Crow Daddy reveals to Abra and Danny that Rose had gotten the assistance of the Overlook Hotel, which made Abra kill her mother, and that Rose is hiding at the factory and they can get there by using Abra’s Shining, revealing that Abra was the most powerful Shiner and that she had only used below a fraction of her power, and that in order to gain her full power which will allow her to teleport to Rose’s location, she will have to use the steam that Rose collected in a canister. With Danny’s reassurance, Abra does so, and they are able to teleport to the factory, which they are able to sneak inside by having Crow Daddy pretend to have Abra captive.

Meanwhile, Rose, demanding to know where Crow disappeared off to, begins to torture Andi for his location, to which she refuses as Rose tortures her. Scrappy Meg begs Rose to stop, but Rose threatens that she will join her if she makes another quip. Just then Crow Daddy arrives with Abra, pretending to have capture her, and demands her to let Andi go, which Rose does so in pragmatic villainy. Rose prepares to execute Abra, but Abra proceeds to her newfound full power to free herself, causing Rose to order the True Knots to attack her, with Abra fighting back as Danny and Crow Daddy assist her. Enraged by this, Rose uses the Orb of Madness to turn the True Knots into mindless killing machines, and they start to overwhelm our heroes as Rose starts to believe that she had won.

Just then, Andi, being a pusher, orders the mind controlled True Knots to kill themselves, which they immediately do so. Rose then attempts to kill Andi out of anger for foiling her attempt for revenge, but Scrappy Meg knocks the blast right back at Rose, blasting off half of her face and destroying the Orb of Madness. Crow Daddy, unable to hate his former lover even after everything she did, immediately rushes up to Rose, and tries to convince her to go back to how things were. Rose appears to be touched by this as she kissed him... And then proceeds to stab him with a knife, having tricked him into letting his guard down, with Rose calling Crow Daddy a fool in life and in death as he collapses. After that, Rose proceeds to merge with the Overlook Hotel, and declares herself the most powerful Shiner in the world and states she can take over City or country she wants... If not for one thing. The hotel had informed her that they lived in a larger universe, aka the multiverse. She then states she used her newfound powers to take a look into the other universes, with each of them involving Abra defeating her. Declaring she can’t live in a world where Abra or Danny live, Rose decides that she will use her powers to destroy EVERY universe, relishing at the thought of killing Abra again and again until every world is void of life.

Rose then proceeds to make the ceiling collapse, crushing the remaining True Knots to death, while Scrappy Meg creates a barrier to protect her, Abra, Andi, and a dying Crow Daddy from the debris, Danny is unharmed due to being a ghost. Rose then proceeds to begin creating a black hole that she plans to use to consume and destroy every universe in existence. Fortunately, Abra gets a idea to get Rose sucked into the black hole in the hopes that this will seal the hole. The heroes then proceeded to make a plan on how to do that as Rose observes, but she is not concerned by this, dismissing it as being hopeless, as she begins to attack Abra and Meg, who begin to charge towards her, declaring that bravery will not save them.

After Meg blocks Rose’s magic with a sheet of metal, Rose attempts to crush Abra and Meg to death, only for her to find herself in the same snow maze that she experienced during the events of the film. Rose declares that the trick won’t work on her again, but soon finds herself getting lost as the maze suddenly catches on fire and burns Rose’s right arm off. Abra then rises from the maze and fights against an enraged Rose. Not long after this, Rose destroys the maze and swats Abra to the ground and then grabs her and absorbs her into her hand, Rose then asks who is going to stop her now... As Andi attempts to attack Rose, only for Rose to smack her to the ground and prepares to crush Meg to death, only for Crow Daddy to use his Shining to toss Meg out of the way, with Rose killing only him with Rose mocking him once again.

Inside Rose, Abra begins to lose hope as she is unable to escape. Just then, the spirits of the Grady Twins and the others that were killed by the Hotel, appear, where they reveal that the Hotel had took their souls to feed for all of eternity, and had made deals to keep a steady supply of sacrifices during the winter. Deciding that this needs to end, Abra uses her thoughts of her family, friends, and her belief that good will ALWAYS overcome evil to make her shining brighter, overcoming her negative thoughts, with the other spirits doing the same, grabbing each other’s hands as they purge their own negative thoughts. Just as Rose prepares to kill Meg and Andi, Abra breaks free from Rose through her midsection, bisecting her. Rose then declares that even if she is killed, the black hole will destroy the universes anyways as she makes another attempt to attack the heroes, only for the other trapped ghosts to escape as well, and begin to push Rose towards the black hole, with her very being being ripped apart in the process. In one last attempt at revenge, Rose attempts to grab Abra to drag her into the hole with her, but was stopped by the ghost of Jack, Danny’s father, and the antagonist from the Shining book and film. Declaring neither he or Rose belong here, Jack strikes Rose’s head with his ax, causing Rose to finally be completely sucked into the black hole, killing her and the Overlook Hotel, destroying the black hole, saving the universes and ending Rose’s tyranny once and for all.

Migrating Qualities?:

None. The love she had for the True Knots in the film? Rose completely throws those redeeming qualities away, caring only for getting revenge on Abra for her death in the film. And she is a completely Bad Boss towards her fellow True Knots, being completely willing to mind control them into becoming mindless killing machines or even killing them when they question her actions. She doesn’t even show remorse for sacrificing Lester to the Overlook Hotel, and even using Crow Daddy’s love for her to get him to lower his guard, and even mocks him after killing him. So yeah, no redeeming qualities here.

Heinous Standard:

Easily passes this. Not only does she keep her killing children to collect steam crimes from the film, she also takes control of Aldrich’s human trafficking operation, and creates machines that extract steam from the children, causing them extreme pain and slowly killing them. Then there’s her turning her True Knots into mindless killing machines with the Orb of Madness, which demonstrates on 30 True Knots, resulting in them killing each other violently and leaving the survivor horrified and traumatized. She also makes a deal with the Overlook Hotel in order to get its assist in her plans, and does not hesitate to sacrifice Lester in order to get it to cooperate. And when she unleashed the mind controlled True Knots onto Abra’s home town, they brutally massacre untold amounts of people, including children, while Rose watches with sadistic glee. And finally, when she finds out that Abra defeats her in the other universes, she decides to go completely Omnicidal Maniac by attempting to destroy every universe with a black hole, while clearly gleeful to kill Abra over and over again until life doesn’t exist anymore. The Overlook Hotel itself, which was given agency, could count due to trapping its victims in an And I Must Scream fate, but we’ll find out for certain when I EP it.

Conclusion:

Easily one of the strongest keeps I had in a while, but what do you guys? And also, I would really recommend you read the story, it’s quite an amazing fanfic, and I think Austin DR did a good job on it.

~papyru30 Agreed. Though the movie treats one death like suicide even though the individual in question was tricked into cutting their own throat. Great movie though. Highly recommended. Fun fact: The restaurant that Marta and Ransom were in in the movie? My friend used to work in it and I'd visit him often.
