During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Since I no longer have someone collaborating with me for Night Huntress, would anyone be interested in coordinating with me once I recover from my crosslinking?

Hope everything turns out okay for your uncle.
He definitely doesn't seem to have been approved by the thread.

Is this dude
actually heinous enough to count? The entry is pretty bad:
Hey guys I won't be here today or tomorrow as I have to go see my uncle who fell and hurt his head to the point he had to go to the hospital.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadCrap, sorry to read that Bullman. I actually came here to mark out at Bayonetta and Vanquish getting rereleased on PS 4, but in light of your news I'll just post a link to the trailer and move on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5nE_xnAnqY
And we're talking about Tekken? That's fun. I was almost wondering about checking out the Tekken anime and seeing if Heihachi kept - in the games, he's got a buttload of mitigating factors, like his love of his pet bear Kuma, being treated comically in many situations and Tekken 7 explaining his motivations more thoroughly ie he lied about throwing Kazuya off a cliff because he wanted him to prove himself worthy. Turns out he was scared his son would turn into an angry demon thing... which he did... because he got thrown off a cliff. Oops.
Didn't think about the Live-Action one, though I remember that Kazuya being listed prior to the thread starting... I think. So I wouldn't be surprised if he kept. He also doesn't keep in the games, mostly because his backstory is messed up and he's implied to still love his dead mother, if I recall correctly. Oh, and his grandfather, he loved him, though he does seem to reject this love in his non-canon Tekken 5 ending which was something I'll tell ya.
Dang, sorry for you Bullman. All the best to you and your uncle!

Best of luck to your uncle.
I have finals this week, so I won’t be doing much on this thread (though I might make little appearances in-between studying). So how about a little something before my break?
What Is the Work?
Toonami. A block on Cartoon Network comprised of mainly anime action shows, Toonami shaped many a child’s view on anime during the late 90s and early 2000s, helping give rise to the anime boom of the 2000s. Hosted by the robot TOM (Toonami Operation Module), who keeps getting new bodies every few years, and the AI SARA, Toonami, for those of you who don’t know, is set in a space setting. Despite the fact that the block’s primarily known for presenting cartoons, Toonami also has its fair share of stories set within its own universe.
Such as this one.
Toonami Endgame is a 2-issue webcomic from 2003 that explained how TOM 2 became TOM 3. Originally uploaded on the now-defunct OG Toonami website, it can now be read on the Toonami wiki.
Who Is he?
Orcelot Rex is a space pirate who seeks to conquer the entire galaxy, and the Big Bad of the webcomic.
What has he done?
Kidnapping SARA from the Absolution spaceship, which belongs to TOM 2, to unlock her powers and establish himself as “the first emperor of the universe,” Orcelot breaks into the Absolution and blows it up just as TOM 2 gives chase. With SARA in hand, Orcelot plans to use her powers to harness the energy of many suns so that he can become more powerful, but once SARA refuses, Orcelot threatens her with “ways of making you help me…” Once TOM 2 invades his ship and starts attacking him, Orcelot’s body explodes. However, it’s revealed that Orcelot is a tentacle squid creature who inhabits different metallic suits of armor. And he just so happened to crawl into an even larger body of armor. Orcelot proceeds to utterly destroy TOM 2 by electrocuting him until his robot body parts crumble away into little tiny pieces, dumping his remains into the trash chute and forcing SARA to watch his remains disappear into the void.
TOM 2 wakes up, barely conscious and now just a severed head. There, TOM 2 meets the Dronomeks, robots that Orcelot enslaved once he took over their ship, who help repair him into TOM Version 3.0 (or just TOM 3) to get back at Orcelot. After SARA continues to refuse helping Orcelot, Orcelot threatens SARA with the destruction of Earth and “every planet with lifeforms on it,” claiming that Earth’s destruction will make TOM 2’s “death seem like an appetizer by comparison.” But before he can do any of that, TOM 3 sneaks up from behind and stabs Orcelot in his weak spot (his forehead, which the Dronomeks revealed to him) with a fork, killing him for good.
Yep, death by fork.
Redeeming Qualities?
Zero.
Heinousness?
So Toonami’s heinous standard is fairly light for a sci-fi setting like this. The only other villains on the show who actually do anything are:
-The Intruder: A blob alien who’s only real crimes are the deaths of TOM 1 and 4. That’s really it, no motivation other than he's a dick.
-Swayzak: A killer computer virus who tries to destroy the Absolution and kill TOM 3 and SARA by crashing them into Earth. That’s all, no motivation other than because he's a dick.
-One storyline had a future SARA get corrupted, turn evil, and blow up a planet. Doesn't count because she returns back to good again after getting fixed.
And that’s really it for the franchise’s heinous standard.
The fact that Orcelot is willing to rule over the entire universe as its dictator makes him bad enough, but I think his enslaving of the Dronomeks and the promise of committing planetary slaughter pushes him just enough past generic villainy, especially for what’s essentially standard supplementary material for kids.
Conclusion
I think he’s a keep.

It's Spooky Month!
Rex. I'm reserving the recently-announced Death Come True, from the man who gave us Junko Enoshima.

Orcelot
I'd go with a yes. For my next vampire one?
What's the work?
Dracula Everlasting is an on original English manga set in modern day...years ago, Van Helsing destroyed Dracula. Nicholas Harker is a teenager who inherits an ancient home from an ancestor he didn't know he had...turns out that not only is he a Harker, but his bloodline also descends from Dracula, and the spirit of the dark lord is seizing his body...Dracula begins to manifest as his best friend Jill Hawthorne notices something is up, with the help of a young witch named Cate and a ghost policeman, as Dracula seeks to resume control.
So let's talk...Dracula.
Who is Dracula?
A mass murdering vampire with a ton of bodies to his name before he was killed by Van Helsing and the other heroes of Dracula, Dracula resurfaces in Nicholas's body and slowly subverts it to his control, tracking down the descendants of the Renfield family and having them resume their service to him. When Cate's mother, a witch who runs a magic shop notices something wrong, Dracula ambushes her and kills her, making her his first victim, before killing several other women as well...steadily usurping Nicholas's control over his own body (as well as, strongly implied, psychically murdering Jill's grandfather, Simon van Helsing, who slips in his bathtub).
Later graduating to controlling Nicholas completely, he murders Nick's crush Vanessa solely for 'rejecting his host.' The shock causes Nick to seize control and hide away, but Mason Renfield, heir to the family, brings him back out and feeds him a prostitute.
Jill's mother Miranda tries to confront Dracula and being prepared with bullets dipped in holy water manages to slow him down. Cate and Jill intervene, allowing Miranda to stake him. She misses the heart, only for Dracula to rip the Stake out and shove it into her chest in turn.
Now fully in control, Dracula is hunted by a vengeful Jill and Cate, with the help of Cate's ghost friend, Detective McCallister. Obsessed with destroying Jill and her bloodlne, he turns several victims into vampies, including Cate's mother, just to fuck with Cate...and has them massacre a police station, killing several cops himself to get to Jill there, forcing Cate to destroy her mother to free her soul.
When the Renfield patriarch gets too complainy over the failure, Dracula snaps his neck in a fit of pique, then feeds the rest of the family to his vampires, leaving only Mason Renfield, who he says is the only one he needs...and don't fail like the others. Or else.
When the final confrontation comes, Dracula tries to kill Jill, Mason killed in the fighting. Dracula is subdued, and Jill reaches Nicholas who fights through to kill himself via stake to the heart to destroy Dracula for good...while also allowing Nicholas to return, even as a Friendly Neighbor Hood Vampire for a happy end.
Mitigating Qualities?
I wasn't expecting Bishounen Dracula to be so bad when I grabbed this off Comixology. But...yeah, a ton of death, some nasty touches like using Cate's mother against her just for him, massacring a police station, killing his loyal Renfield servitors...nothing good to him either. Dracula is cold, cruel and sadistic, relishing the pain of others and vampires don't even have to be evil, given Nick is a good one by the end...so yeah, I'd say? Winner.
Conclusion?
And a yes to the latest Dracula.
Dracula
@Seraph: This would make 25 with the two from today. Though finding cm incarnations is more difficult then you'd think are looks into deathless girls and The Conquerors Saga didn't count for redeeming qualities despite being pretty nasty.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I good news my uncle was released early so I took him to my house. He just had to get minor stiches and by the time I get I got there he was already being released without any one calling me before hand. I still won't be here for the rest of the day, but at least he's safe.
Yes to Lighty's and jackie's ones.
