Man, I feel like Nyarly's someone who is almost never depicted in a positive light, even if they aren't a CM like in Persona. Like, Satan is sometimes shown as a good guy. Maybe because Satan's more well known. Maybe Nyarlathotep's conception is so tied to its utter evil and sadism that presenting it as not evil is simply unthinkable, while Satan is open to so many interpretations because his development is so weird. Nyarly isn't exactly a Satanic figure, but can be used as one - Hell, even Lovecraft did that in one of his own stories.

Are there are any "good" versions of Nyarly out there? I will accept parody as well.

Nyaruko-san, an anime where Nyarlathotep is an adorable young girl and non-malicious. Alan Moore's Nyarlathotep or Johnny Carcosa isn't a good guy, but he's way less evil than usual, and even helpful at times.

I actually just looked up that Nyarly anime.

I like to think that in the distant void of dreams, Lovecraft himself peers into his old reality. He sees what his works, his dreams, have wrought.

Nothing has filled him with a stronger, more wonderful terror than seeing the avatar of his most terrible nightmare since he was 10 years old being turned into a cute anime girl.

Alan Moore's Nyarly seems cool though. But it seems like the only notable not evil Nyarly is the cute anime school girl, which seems about right.

@LordYAM, I haven't seen Gillies' last appearance yet (I've been watching Murdoch Mysteries out of order on Netflix, picking and choosing what episodes I want to watch), though I'd be happy to give his entry an overhaul once I'm caught up on him.

So what's the work?

Paper valentine is a 2013 book by acclaimed ya horror author Brenna Yovanoff.

The city of Ludlow is gripped by the hottest July on record. The asphalt is melting, the birds are dying, petty crime is on the rise, and someone in Hannah Wagnor’s peaceful suburban community is killing girls.

For Hannah, the summer is a complicated one. Her best friend Lillian died six months ago, and Hannah just wants her life to go back to normal. But how can things be normal when Lillian’s ghost is haunting her bedroom, pushing her to investigate the mysterious string of murders? Hannah’s just trying to understand why her friend self-destructed, and where she fits now that Lillian isn’t there to save her a place among the social elite. And she must stop thinking about Finny Boone, the big, enigmatic delinquent whose main hobbies seem to include petty larceny and surprising acts of kindness.

With the entire city in a panic, Hannah soon finds herself drawn into a world of ghost girls and horrifying secrets. She realizes that only by confronting the Valentine Killer will she be able move on with her life—and it’s up to her to put together the pieces before he strikes again.

So whose the villain and what has he done ?'

The valentine Killer aka Connor Price is a student and apparent child hood friend of the heroine Hannah.

Anyway Connor was in detention one day with delinquent Nick Andelmam. The two discussed people they didn't like and how "cool" it'd be to off someone. The fame the attention. Nick was just talk though, Connor was serious and since he viewed Nick as the perfect Scapegoat he eventually corrupted him into killing someone with him. A 13 year old girl whose head Connor bashed in. Nick freaked out of remorse and tried to go to the police only for Connor to shut him down as he wanted to contour. Nick ended up in Juvie for something unrelated which delayed his plans. After Nick was released. Well here it from the man himself :

“Well, first of all, no one was ever going to believe that it wasn’t his idea. I mean, look at him! And as long as we were careful, as long as we took all the right precautions and didn’t hang out together where anyone could see us, we could keep doing it—do whatever we wanted. It was going to be epic.”

“And that was all he needed to hear? That you were going to kill a whole bunch of girls and it would be epic? That’s really what he wanted?”

Connor’s expression darkens abruptly, and it’s like watching a cloud move across the sun. “We were all set to start doing some real damage. Then he had to go and get picked up for being fucking stupid and lifting utility knives right where the shop guy could see him. He spent four months in Lehigh, and when he came back, he was too scared to do anything anymore. It took pretty much the whole semester to get him to where I was even sure that he wasn’t going to go running to the cops any second.”

So over the course of the novel he more or less bullies Nick into killing three other 13-14 year old girls by luring them in with fake rabbits and valentines before killing them and placing a valentine as a calling card. Eventually Hannah figures out that at least Nick was one of the killers due to his rabbit themed bracelet and clues from the ghosts of his victims. He then caves and confesses our of remorse. Connor realises its only a matter of time before he goes down but decides uh,that he'll kill Hannah who was a nuisnace to him beforehand on the way down. He threates her sister unless she comes to his killing ground (the local park) :

“They’re going to catch you,” I say, and I say it like it’s just that obvious,that unavoidable. Connor only leans closer and gives me a warm, conspiratorial look. “I know that.

“Why are you here, then? I mean, why bother with me?

He shakes his head, looking so earnest, so sincere. “Don’t you get it, Hannah? Since the second you gave them Nick, it was never going to be any other way. It’s just a matter of time before he pussies out and tells them everything. So before it all goes down, I had to make sure I got my chance to deal with you. Because yeah, they’ll get me, but until then, I’ve got you.

Anyway as he has her tied up and gets out his tools in order to kill her. Hannah someone's the ghosts of his victims which catch him off guard and disorient him for enough time to get out of the bindings. Thankfully police and her boyfriend arrive and sibdue him to be taken to prison.

Uh no.

He has one scence with his mother where he shows her no affection whatsover and is just annoyed by her presence. So pass there.

He admits Nick is just a pawn and patsie and doesn't give a shit about him. So pass there.

Hes the dominant of the two between him and Nick with Nick clearly pressured into it and too weak willed to say anything.

Finally he is sorta friendly but as Hannah says that's just a mask for a utter vile monster that lies beneath.

Heinous standard ?

Beat 4 young girls aged 13 to death and tried to kill his sixteen year old friend. Baseline isn't a issue.

Conclusion

A simple. Easy keeper

The Honkai character sounds like a keep, ditto Mir's.

Honkai 3 came out in October 14, 2016....that's not a special reservation. People have been trying to propose them before being shot down. That should've been a sign to do them sooner than later.

Going with a yes on Connor and the Honkai 3 one.

i know Lighty. I've already stated that I want to cover Honkai Impact and put it on Discussion dates instead of the To-do list because I've just started playing the game and reading several of the mangas. Herrscher of the Void proposal one is taking too long mainly because her arc is ongoing. That and how she appears in other media.
