During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Question for soemthing I'm gonna EP; where do machinima type examples go ? Web Original or Fanfiction ? I ask because a lot of the machinima I see are made from games like GTA or Sims, but besides that don't have anything to with their source materials.
"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."Well, I think we only have one Machinima, Red Vs Blue, and that's at Web Original FWIW.

Web Original, I think. We have examples from Red Vs Blue, which is a machinima made from Halo, and they're in the Web Original section.
EDIT:
'd.

If no one else volunteers to EP him then I'll do it within the next few days. Honesty at this point I care less about him counting and more about the Ur-Example arguments being made in his favor.
Hey, random question but pertinent to our Lovecraftian interests: What's the preferred pronunciation for Nyarlathotep? I tend to go "Knyar - La - Tho - Tep" myself. I also know these names aren't entirely meant to be pronounceable. But even so, I don't think I've ever actually heard it spoken.
Also, Satan is in the drafts.
My preferred pronunciation: Ny-ARR-lee
Here
is a reddit thread.

- Kamen Rider Blade: Missing Ace: Junichi Shimura/Kamen Rider Glaive is the real identity of the Albino Joker, the Evil Counterpart to both Kazuma Kenzaki and Hajime Aikawa. Joining BOARD as the replacement for Kamen Rider Blade, Shimura became the team leader of the Ace Riders and used them to further his own goals, starting by killing the president of BOARD and then releasing half of the Undeads, allowing them to massacre humans just to seal them again as part of a ritual that would grant him ultimate power, disposing of his two subordinates after they had served their purpose. Sacrificing Amane's life energy to have control over an Eldritch Abomination, Shimura was an ambitious monster whose need for power knew no limits.
Guess that first T is silent.
BTW, I'm gonna watch it tomorrow, but I MAY have found a Nyarly of my own
.
Oh and ACW, on the topic of Kamen Rider, i'd like to revisit Hitotsumi/Imitation Kabuki. I proposed him a long time ago, but watching the movie now? I was placing too much importance on the fact that he tried to eat a kid alive, but his bosses, the Douji and Hime, also help a Draconic Abomination in eating people as sacrifices. Even his victim, the original Kabuki, the man who tried to protect the kid, was also a villain thanks to the Fantastic Racism that he had to endure at the hands of humans. It's my first time doing this, but i believe it is necessary.
Yes. Now i can confirm that he fails the HS of The Movie.

Heh, I figured you might've. Back to the old drawing board. Question: What makes an adaptation loose enough to get its own entry or not? We have this comic's
Nyarly. I'm not arguing for a cut mind you, just trying to get clarification. We have that same thing with books and movies.
So cut him?
Feel free to file that cut yourself. I'm fine with it, but don't forget the YMMV.

So about my machinima question, there's a Youtube Channel by that makes these short horror movies from Sims 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, dating back all the way back to 2005. His writing and story telling quality is...I don't wanna be to hard on him but it's "Bad Creepypasta" tier storytelling. He also names his protagonists after himself, but I don't judge.
I've only seen a few of his shorts but one of them has a pretty nasty villain in his short The Night Striker in the form of Alisha Winko.
Who is Alisha ? What does she do ?
At the start of the short, she narrates how she had a perfectly happy family with her parents and brother John. Despite her seemingly perfect life, her parents had to "ruin" everything by adopting a baby whose parents died of drug overdose. Alisha spent years hoping her new brother Joe would die due to him being a crack baby, but much to her irritation, Joe grew up healthy with his loving family. So eventually Alisha snapped and decided she wanted to kill Joe herself. She also decided her parents had to die for having the gall to love someone besides her. Alisha tried to get her brother John in on the scheme only to kill him when he objected. Alisha then proceeds to murder her parents and taunts Joe about it, but luckily he escapes and calls the police.
Years later, Joe is still traumatized by Alisha and living in fear that she will come back, but at least has a support system in his friends and roommates. Sure enough, Alisha escapes her psyche ward, killing a doctor and his assistant. Dawning a jester (Harley Quinn) outfit, Alisha makes her way back to the city and starts a new killing spree to get to Joe - some of her murders was to scare him and break him down, the rest was for the fun of it. She kills a couple on a date, the staff at a restaurant, two teenagers and a worried mom; all the while making snide pre murder taunts towards her victims. Joe immediately realizes it's Alisha but no one believes him.
Joe manages to convince his friends and they come up with a plan to protect him at their apartment - said plan goes to shit as Alisha immediately kills them. Joe flees the apartment looking for help, with Alisha chasing him down and killing a news anchor along the way. Joe gets to the Sheriff's office, but shortly after he arrives, Alisha kills the Sheriff, before cornering Joe and gunning him down. Alisha walks out of the Sheriff's station with a calm smile on her face, knowing that her goal is complete (although that may have to do with the game graphics used to limit facial expressions) as she is surrounded by the police force...
Then Joe's inexplicably reanimated himself and decapitates Alisha with a fire-axe.
Have I mentioned that the writing in these shorts are kinda shit ?
Redeeming Qualities or Freudian Excuse ?
Nope. Her excuse is that she had a perfect and happy family before her parents made her jealous by adopting an orphaned baby they felt sorry for and raised him into a healthy young boy. For that both her adopted brother and her parents must die. She also kills her biological brother after failing to egg him in on the scheme, dismissing him as a "wimp" for trying to talk her out of it.
Heinous standard ? Sets it as the only villain in this short. Is and excessively brutal killer (well as brutal as you can get with San Andreas graphics) and her reasons for killing people around Joe is specifically because she wants to further scar him and break him down...and because she finds it fun.
"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."

Works for me. Shorter too. Please add to the Drafts.
Also, I'll be submitting this tomorrow, along with Hordak and last week's 3rd and final batch (almost caught up):
P.S. Lighty, whenever you write up the Grimm keepers, I'm gonna need your help organizing the page.
