During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

I think he's trying to use the template, but may need more knowledge of formatting rules.
The EP, if done correctly, will be formatted like this:
What's the work?
(insert text here)
Who is/are (insert character(s) here)? What has/have he/she/they done?
(insert text here)
Mitigating factors/Redeeming qualities
(insert text here)
Heinous standard
(insert text here)
Conclusion
(insert text here)
There are two formatting rules that are most important here: The bold format to highlight the headers of the different sections of the Effort Post (put three consecutive apostrophes to the left and another three to the right of the headers to achieve bolded text) and the line break to create paragraphs and produce line spacing. (Use blank lines as spacing to separate paragraphs.)

Humanity is defined by its absurdity, and I am no exception.~Knowoneknowswho Iam, your effort post is hard to read. Please read Administrivia.Text Formatting Rules to improve it. This. Is. Important.

The work Twisted Metal: Black
The characters names are: Cage and Calypso,
the former is a serial killer with empathy who wants said empathy gone for good, the latter is a particularly vile Jackass Genie/Literal Genie combined with a Sadists and Torture Technicians, love for killing, torture, death, suffering and all-around evil.
The game treats them both deadly serious the whole time, nor does it claim they have standards, nor morals, ethics, principles, loved ones, nothing. All of their actions as seen as Kick The Dog, Bait The Dog, Despair Event Horizon, Eviler Than thou, Kick The Son Of A Bitch, Yank The Dog's Chain, Moral Even Horizons, Shaggy Dog Story, and Shoot The Shaggy Dog Story, the heinousness of their actions are omnipresent throughout the game, being seen only someone or something pure evil would enjoy in any real way.
The game makes no attempts to humanize them in anyway, for instance Cage is Serial Killer who wants to be free of all his humanity, seeing it as a weakness and a hindrance to his goal of being greatest killer of all times. While the even the few Pet The Dog moments present in Twisted Metal: Black are present immediately turned into one or more of the above in break-neck speed in regards to Calypso, helping John Doe find out his past and real identity in less than a second shot dead for being an FBI Agent and Mole. Killing a SWAT Team officer who wanted to right a wrong, after accidentally killing the family he was trying to protect, by Calypso himself no less, destroying the unnamed sons remote control over his Zombie Puppet dad, to make him his new successor in his image. It just keeps piling up.
No mitigating factors are ever mentioned for these two at any point during the whole game. Not one. Same deal with redeeming qualities all nonexistent, as well.
I think they fully qualify, what do you think?

I think we should stop here because I don't want to hinder this thread unnecessarily. Why not ask me or other users here by P Ms? They know how to do an EP and can teach you the ways.
On Star Trek Genesis, I found this entry that was clearly unapproved
- Complete Monster: Chellik, dba Peter the Rabbit, whio was willing to slaughter the population of an entire planet just to make it look like Earth.
@Cr0w They are probably trying to follow the template but have issues with the formatting and doesn't really know what to write up. I've talked to the mods about this.
I say we let the moderators handle this. I've just messaged them on this issue.

Humanity is defined by its absurdity, and I am no exception.~Knowoneknowswho Iam, I don't think the last version of your effort post is good enough. Please format your effort post properly and make a detailed and unambiguous case like everyone else does.

Just in case you don't know, PM means private message. Please read TV Tropes Glossary for details.
to everybody I’ve I’ve missed, especially to the Mind Flayer who’ve I’ve been looking forward to for a while. Also I think that there also a book that further explores Dr. Martin Brenner’s personality and atrocities so that might be an interesting read if anyone’s interested
Scraggle's right on video game cruelty potential.
I could theoretically play Metal Gear Solid 3 and shoot 10 billion soldiers in the junk. But we ain't cutting Volgin over that - and not just because it's absurd.
If it's something like Undertale, which takes player directed genocide into account of its story, then I'm more receptive.
How is Stranger Things 3 by the by?
@Polar I thought it was really good, Comedy is good, and it can be really emotional at times. And the mind flayer himself is a really good villain.
There are issues though, Like the Soviet bad guys here who I can't take seriously because there plan seems to be too destroy America By Releasing the monsters in the Upside down, cause that can't possibly backfire Seriously, it's the equivalent of if at the end of world war 2 we summoned Cthulu to take out Japan, it's solving one problem, by creating an infintly huger problem
But overall, I recommend it.
Things are really about to get Fun around here

You have to use the template linked, though.
