During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Since I advertised before, fuck it.
Scrags finished his story, Mirrorworld, a few days ago. Feel free to check it out; it's actually quite good.
I won't be discussing anything in full detail until the 22nd though. Y'all can PM me if you want though.
I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.Currently dont have either E Ps, Rewrites (I'm not sure if I will went into that territory due to that fiasco). So no... After Fighting Fantasy stuff... The thread seems quite but okay.
If you want me to get the thread into the tracks... Would love to discuss about Jackal from Fairy Tail. He's staying. No need to get your horses up.
The thing I want to discuss is some crimes that I feel left out. From what I heard, he tries to decimate a city and when defeated, he pulls a Taking You with Me by attempting to decimate said city again. If that's true then I actually think the guy's pretty impressive for his lower tier
But eh... I can take it or leave the writeup as it is.
Also... Congrats Scraggs on completing the story! I'll be waiting for that PSS EP patiently!

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."
PSS?
EDIT: Ah, that.
Oh yeah, Lighty finished his own story, Give Us Forever: Part 1, about a week ago. So there's that too. Seems like me, Scrags, and Lighty all finished a long-ass story around the same time period.

I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.Well I got another CYOA book waiting at the library:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6633473-u-n-adventure
Another is coming in soon, but that may be a long shot:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/190988.Trouble_on_Planet_Earth
So hopefully I will have some gamebook proposals soon.
That Curse of the Pirate Mist book was a bust, the villain was just some con man.
I have ordered a few other CYOA books from the library, but they are taking forever to arrive.

Im wondering. Could Western Animation be folderised. Its quite big and hard to read the entries without lots of scrollying.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."@Tyk: A Scraggle story on my birthday? Oh boy, you got me a present?!?
Hope you guys had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday, so here's an EP to start the week.
What Is the Work?
The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite is the first installment in Gerard Way's Umbrella Academy series.
So in case you guys don't remember the basic premise: 43 special kids were born all at the same time, and only a few of them were chosen by inventor and all around asshole Reginald Hargreeves for his academy of heroes. After Hargreeves dies, his students, now adults, must tackle not only the evil from their childhood, but also their personal relationships with each other. Meanwhile, there’s an apocalypse about to happen, with the catalyst being none other than…
Who Is he?
The Conductor is the leader of the Orchestra Verdammten, a cult set out to destroy the world.
What has he done?
A complete psycho, the Conductor is attempting to write a song that would cause a comet to collide into the earth and destroy the world. Having written the song, he has several of his members attempt to play it. None of them are able to, and the Conductor shoots them in the head as punishment (having already killed 5 more in the past). He coerces Vanya into joining his cult because he’s aware of her skills as a powerful violin player (and also because she’s pure and kind) with the power to bring about the end of the world. Once she joins his cult, he has her brainwashed and transformed into the White Violin (having gotten the notes after killing some of Hargreeve’s scientists—he also thought Hargreeve’s experiments were “much less painful” and ended up making the transformation ridiculously painful to make up for that), who has the power to killing anybody just by strumming one string of her violin.
Presenting White Violin after boasting that she’ll be more destructive than the atomic bomb, he hands her her violin and makes her play for him. She does so… and it slices Conductor in half. Yup, he dead. Now despite his early death, his effects linger throughout the story. Because he brainwashed the depressed, enraged White Violin, Violin leads the Orchestra Verdammten to continue his plan to destroy the world. She completely destroys the Academy’s main building; kills the students’ surrogate father Dr. Phineas Pogo; and was this close to destroying the world, only being saved at the last minute by Séance.
Redeeming Qualities?
Zippo. He has no qualms about killing his cult members, even saying that they were doomed to failure because of their tainted souls.
Heinousness?
Sure he’s smallfry, but he was very close to destroying the world. There’s also the fact that he created White Violin, and thus was responsible for all of her actions.
Conclusion
I think he’s a keep. I have another candidate in mind from the series, but his arc won't be concluded until June.

It's Spooky Month!Huh reminds of Norman Birdwell (or Bridewelle) from Blood Books. Still an evil prick even after being changed in the adaptation even if theyve changed up various details.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I'm in favor of splitting off certain entries onto Monster.Animated Film.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! That I'd work and honestly the rest of the site groups animated films separately from animated series so dunno why we don't. We'd need a new quote and image for the western animation series section though as the current well good are films.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I actually wouldn't mind doing Monster.Animated Shows and Monster.Animated Films, allowing us to include the examples from Other Media.
I guess pages with both shows AND films, like Monster.DC Animation, would go to both. I don't know what we'd do about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, since Turtles Forever is a film but is the ONLY film on that page.

Again, PM me to discuss last night’s Game of Thrones. My reaction: My God.
@Yami Yeah, that movie has as much chance of getting a sequel as King Arthur: Legend of the Sword does.
