During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Forgot to mention a few things: Anya has a pretty mean Kick the Dog moment where she takes Casey into her care ... then presents Davey with her severed head, all boxed up, and she does have some involvement in Barna's smut ring, but still isn't evil enough in comparison. Also, Barna does ask Castlebeck to get Anya on the phone at one point, but this was before he knew that Davey and his friends were raiding the hotel, and after Davey had killed her.

Elfen, I'd be happy to.
Now, something that didn't disgust me: the ultimate villain of Critical Role's Vox Machina campaign....lets talk...Vecna.
Who is Vecna?
Long ago, a mortal ascended to godhood through the Ritual of Seeding. That mortal was the Raven Queen, goddess of death, and the gods forbade all knowledge of the ritual to prevent others from following in her footsteps...and long ago a mortal learned of it. His name? Vecna. The Whispered One, lord of the Rotted Tower, the Undying King. A mortal famed for his atrocities who became an archlich, Vecna sought godhood. Thankfully for the world, Vecna was defeated and slain before his ascension...but he was worshiped still as a minor patron of secrets and hidden knowledge. And such things have power....Vecna persisted behind thee scenes.
Now, ages later in the days before Vox Machina, the noble Sylas Briarwood died, bringing grief to his wife Delilah. Delilah delved into dark, forbidden necromancy and contacted Vecna, who became her patron. Vecna revived Sylas as a vampire and set him and Delilah against Whitestone, home of the de Rolo family. The de Rolos were wiped out with many of their people, the Briarwoods conquering Whitestone to use it for a ritual to complete Vecna's ascension. The tyranny of the Briarwoods is legendary, many, many people executed...when Vox Machina arrives to liberate Whitestone from the Briarwoods for the sake of Percy de Rolo and his quest for revenge. Vecna's plans were foiled, Sylas slain and the Briarwoods defeated....the ritual would seemingly sacrifice Whitestone for the glory of Vecna and his ascension.
With it foiled? Delilah Briarwood returns in the final arc, where Vecna is revealed to have corrupted temples to Ioun, goddess of knowledge. ...but this time, at the final arc? The ritual is completed and Vecna rises anew...plotting his ascension to godhood. Vecna promptly kills Vex'ahlia and disintegrates her brother Vax, the rest of Vox Machina barely escaping and reviving Vex....Vax is granted life by the Raven Queen herself to stop Vecna for good, with the promise that when the fihgt is done, he must return to her side in death....Vecna begins moving his capital city on the back of a titan. When he ascends to godhood, he's not done. Seeking to rise even further, Vecna needs worship through fear and seeks to create a 'miracle of terror' to do so....his chosen method? To obliterate the city of Vasselheim and everyone there. The fortress of good that's stood strong against the forces of darkness, the eat of faiths for the good aligned religions...in one stroke, Vecna will damn the world to the powers of darkness and achieve the greatest power. Vox Machina find him, as Vecna threatens to murder their loved ones (and seeks to carry it out, as revenge via proxy)...in fact, he kidnaps their loved ones and tricks Vox Machina into almost killing them, all culminating in an epic 6 hour (!!!!) battle between the heroes and the monstrous Lichgod. The party refuses to yield, bringing all they have as Vecna rains death upon Vasselheim and its people, as they struggle to protect the city...in the end, Scanlan the Bard realizes that if they destroy Vecna and he'll just reform....imparting this knowledge, they weaken Vecna, but use the Rites of Prime Banishment....at the end, Keyleth recites the rites, opening the Divine Gate itself and capturing Vecna. To the horror of the evil god?
Vecna is cast beyond the material plane and the gate, bound and sealed away....for all time, ending his evil ambitions and saving the world.
Heinousness?
As the Bigger Bad of the Whitestone arc, responsible for the Briarwoods' atrocities in Whitestone? As the evil lich lord of the past responsible for countless atrocities, the personal and petty touches of pure evil like "haha made you kill your loved ones" and oh, yes, trying to damn the world by exterminating the greatest seat of power for good in Exandria, so you can grow stronger? Vecna hits it. Vecna is the big bad of campaign 1 for a damn good reason.
Mitigating Qualities?
It's Vecna. Vecna laughs as your redeeming qualities. The Whispered One is defined by his sociopathic approach to everything that isn't him and relishes all the evil he commits. Vecna is power hungry and hellbent on his divine ascension at expense of everything else in the world. He's cruel as hell and has no care for anyone but himself, and this was so well before he became a Lich.
Conclusion?
Oh, without a doubt to the Whispered One.
Victor Barna
King of Faubley
Wait, Malty returns? Uh
Vecna

Watch me destroying my countryAlso, Devoted gave me permission to post this rewrite for the anime!Tales entry and asked if I'd work on the Kurau Phantom Memory one as well so here's what I've got:
- Kurau Phantom Memory: Satoshi Ichise stands out among all the villains as the most wicked. A Mad Scientist extraordinaire, Ichise torments a little girl to awaken powers within her, even at the risk of dangerous surges of energy within her. Later contracted to create an army of Super Soldiers, Ichise enjoys the feeling of power he gets from his experiments and remains apathetic as his work kills countless among his test subjects.
- Zestiria: The X: Lord Mathia Bartlow of the Ladylake City Council pushes for war with the neighboring nation, Rolance and tries to assassinate his princess, Alisha, when she advocates for peaceful resolution. With Alisha later sent away, Bartlow has his troops stationed to launch a full-scale assault on Rolance. Branding Alisha and her allies traitors when they stop his plot and killing many of her allies, Bartlow later crucifies her mentor in the hopes of luring out Alisha and her companions. When Alisha instead goes to the palace to warn her father of Bartlow's treachery, Bartlow arrives and incidentally mortally wounds the king, planning to frame Alisha.
Also also, a while back someone took a stab at Ravok's (miss you, man!) old Dept Q entry but instead of truncating it mostly just moved words around. Here's my best attempt at reining in the word count:
- Department Q: Ditlev Pram and Ulrik Dybbøl have been psychopaths since high school: when they used to mask themselves before committing assaults and rapes for fun. When a teacher plans to fail Pram, the duo respond by having him framed for rape. Later, Pram and Dybbøl rape a girl in front of her brother, before stabbing both to death, Pram then beating and raping his girlfriend with Dybbøl, uncaring that she is pregnant with his child. Growing up, the duo build a torture chamber where they record themselves raping and torturing their victims and keep a trophy case of the unfortunates' belongings, including what appears to be a child's underwear.
This entry was brought up by Miraculous a while back, but from what I know, nobody (except me) said anything about it.
- Complete Monster: Isaac and General Castle. Isaac turns his friends and his wife into guinea pigs for a government weapons test, all so that he can get a big military contract for his company. General Ripper excuses the fact that the government killed innocent people as necessary casualties for the war against Communism. And they threaten to reveal The Medium as a murderer when he threatens to go to the press with the truth about what they did.
Just returned from a trip to the States, and man, a lot happened while I was gone. Anyways,
Vecna.
Also, on the subject of entries that could be trimmed down a bit....does anyone think Koba's entry has a few extraneous details, particularly towards the end? In addition to a few pointless potholes (including having two It's All About Me potholes?)
Why so serious?

Been considering on King of Faubley.![[thumb up] [tup]](https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Thumbs_up_emoticon_3268.png)

EASY YES!!! And yes to the candidate that I missed sans Frieza which I abstain.
Also, if you ask me about my activity, I'm currently skimming Blazing Souls Accelate so thats something to consider.
@Lightysnake Also... Quick question, know Youkai Ningen BEM? Apparently it got a reboot or something and it would be nice if you want to share again.
Also... Excuse me when I'm gonna vomit after reading King of Faubley's EP 😷😷😷
