During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Since their going up this week. A few more thoughts and opnions on these quotes about the chaos choreography Big Bad Duumvirate and Diamond Bobby before I submitt both quotes after acw adds these guys to the locked pages.
Here's my Valentine writeup. Again, he goes under the Alessa's Fantasies tree.
- Phillip: Dr. Samuel Valentine is a vampire supremacist who seeks to inhabit the world with daywalkers in order to fully diminish humanity. To this end, Valentine kidnaps fifteen women and rapes them to produce dhampirs, with eight of them dying from their babies bursting out of the wound. When Phillip, Luna, and Serenata invade his hideout, Valentine has his six remaining captives doused in gasoline and threatened with being burned alive should they not let him go.

"No running in the halls!"Was Penquin from "Batman:Arkham" series disqualified from being CM recently? Because someone goes around YMMV pages of "Batman:Arkham" games and deleting him.
Eh? No, I don't think they were there, not that I can recall. Shouldn't be deleted.
Also, Vile, just want to say? Most flattered about your sig there.
Just thought it was pretty cool sig. Perfectly fits to one of my most favourite CM from all media.

I remember Penguin being somewhat contentious, but was approved (he's at DC Video Games).
Jackie, Valentine goes at the very end of the tree, right?

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsAdd them back.
He was divisive but we voted yes IN the end.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Honestly, I cam eup with the poem almost on the spot. Nyarlathotep would definitely be my personal favorite of all the KOD villains so far, too. (and one of my favorites in the broader sense)

I've notified the troper.

IPP Wick Check created.@Vile: Thanks man for adding it back. If they re-remove it. Report them on Ask The Tropers as both removing CM entries and Edit War 's are suspension worthy.
This is the main reason why the CM pages arent ever getting unlocked as people would remove or add anyone they want if they were open

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Yeah, if the pages were ever unlocked, it'd be a shitshow.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM Draftsto answer your question ACW, yes Val does go on the bottom.
"No running in the halls!"So anybody got an ep?
We seem to have a hit a bit of a dead end at the moment, so one would be good. I've got one guy in my pocket from a YA novel but Im checking out the final book first to see if his successor is also bad enough to go up first which will take a few days..
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."We've already got 50+ this week
I should have an EP within the next couple of days; Scraggle oh-so-kindly is letting me EP the next Never Mythos candidate, so whenever that story's up (assuming we can break the 2-week rule for that like we do for most troper works).

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsHey guys, I'm curious. Was there any C Ms that were played by Tom Kenny, AKA Spongebob's actor?
Yes. Gimme a sec.
Yup, that was it.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Well, you certanly have creative mind, it is excellent poem, perfectly illustrating nature of the most evil Outer God.
By the way, will there be page for "Top Cow Universe" or not? As i want to know, should i search for quotes and pics for the page.
How many do we have from Top Cow there now?
Definitely feel free to come up with a quote/image there, too.
Top Cow has 8 (maybe more from the company, but only 8 for the Shared Universe). Oddly enough, there's not even a page for the company yet.
Lighty, what do you think about the proposed change to the Neverkind CM page header?

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsWhile were at it... Is there a cm voiced by Yuti Lowenthal (who mostly voices heroic characters except the like of Mercury Black)?

Edmund, given the new info.

I think the length is fine, as well as necessary to adequately cover their most notable combined and individual credits. After all, there are other existing write-ups that are roughly the same length from similarly short series', as well as from movies (where the character in question is pretty much guaranteed to have less screen-time than someone from a 13 episode series). All we have to do now is correct a couple of small typos for when it's put up, and it'll be pretty much perfect.
