During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Sure to cutting Phillip Blake. I did find his backstory odd but I don't think I was there when he was first discussed. I assumed the aspects of his backstory was covered and thought he was meant to be a three dimensional CM.
Anyways, cut him and nickname him "Reek".
"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."@Beast From his trope page it looks like it was the other way around.
But anyway. If the stuff on Bruce and Bob is true, cut I suppose. The stuff on his niece I don't consider redeeming becuase....
I Love the Dead: French kisses his daughter's (niece's) zombie. Not every character that can fit incest, pedophilia AND necrophilia into one panel...

Things are really about to get Fun around hereI’ve always felt the first line of the quote as you see it here was so perfect, I almost just want to use that. So as is now, without the line about blaming the system or just the part about human life not mattering and probably never mattering:

- Shin Megami Tensei: Tokyo Revelation OVA: Gagyson is a low-ranking demon contracted by Akito Kobayashi to be his Number Two in the mission to unleash President Ose in the human world, but shows no loyalty towards his human boss and sees him as his puppet. Establishing himself as Ose's faithful servant who wishes to annihilate the human race, Gagyson allows Akito to destroy an airplane to use the passengers as human sacrifices, sending a demon to assassinate his best friend, Kojiro Souma, when Akito's love for him begins to disturb their plan. After fatally injuring Kojiro, Gagyson assumes control over Akito's operation and orders his demons to beat him. Killing Saki Yagami by impaling her with a sword and using her massive amounts of Magnetite in a ritual, Gagyson successfully summons Ose to wreak havoc around Tokyo and ultimately sacrifices his own body to make the damage even worse.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."
Image.
I don't like that quote though. It's unillusteative and would fit something like Straw Nihlist better.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."BTW, Lighty, can I put you down for a rewrite of Super Nova? The current entry, well...see for yourself:
- Complete Monster: Most iterations of Desty Nova have been amoral at best and have performed inhumane experiments on humans all for the sake of research on Karma. The latest incarnation, Super Nova, powered by two Brain Chips, direct access to Melchizadek, and an afro in his introduction betrayed the main characters and the other two clones of himself to Aga Mbadi. He then proceeds to gleefully tell Alita how LADDER is going to send down an army after the Z.O.T.T. to wipe out The Scrapyard and capture all people on Tiphares for their brains, just before destroying Alita physically and mentally by telling her her brain was replaced with a chip and deconstructing her body, causing her remains to fall down a shaft all while maniacally laughing about it and celebrating over her despair and sadness, disturbing even his other clones. When he asks if the clones would like to work together with him and they politely decline, stating that their methods have grown too different, he uses his power to kill NovaPod and would have killed Nova X if he didn't unplug communication. He has yet to have been seen eating flan, Nova's usual dish of choice and what was a considerable quirk of his, showing just how different and evil he is from the regular Nova. While various Novas have been Faux Affably Evil or Affably Evil, Super Nova is just plain evil.

While I don't keep up with The Walking Dead (nor remotely care about it either), I guess I'll begrudgingly say "Cut" as well. Hate it when things like this happen.
