During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Yes to everyone I missed.
@ ACW, There is a typo in the Carson write up:
- Seven Deadly Sins collection: Nicole Carson, from Revenant, by Marc D. Giller, is a seemingly nice medic on an illegal salvage vessel called the Celtic, but is really a ruthless mercenary. When the Celtic sends an away team to a Federation ship, the USS Reston, which was partially assimilated by the Borg during the battle of Sector of 001 to salvage its technology, Carson secretly infects the away team with Borg nanoprobes. Carson plans to have the entire away team assimilated by Borg technology, planning to sell the infected away team to her employer, who wants to turn the Borg into a weapon. Though Carson dies while attempting to execute this scheme, she does succeed in assimilating the away team, unleashing the Borg on the galaxy once again.
Please get rid of the second of in the bolded section.

New EP! I didn't expect to get addicted to this franchise, but here i am.
What is the work? Shin Megami Tensei: Tokyo Revelation is a short OVA based on the manga of same name, which by itself is loosely based on the original Shin Megami Tensei. The story follows Kojiro Souma, a high-school student having strange dreams who soon gets involved with demons and is also the reincarnation of a powerful spirit. The Big Bad is white-haired pretty boy Akito Kobayashi, a young man who was bullied as a child for being homosexual, having only Kojiro to protect him. Akito wishes to release a high-ranking demon, President Ose, into our world, but he's not our candidate for today, as he has several redeeming qualities, including genuine love for Kojiro and a Redemption Equals Death at the end. Our bad guy is his demonic aide.
Who is he? The demon with a silly voice, Gagyson is President Ose's faithful servant and the demon who was contracted by Akito Kobayashi to be his accomplice in the quest to unleash Ose in the human world. Allowing Akito to destroy a plane with countless people inside to use them as human sacrifices for President Ose, Gagyson criticizes Akito for "wasting his time" sending possessed students after Kojiro's other friend, but purely out of Pragmatic Villainy, as he doesn't want humans learning of their plan so soon. Shortly after Akito goes out of their base, Gagyson calls him a "fool" who's getting too proud, and summons Cerberus, ordering him to assassinate Kojiro so his friendship with Akito could not disturb his plan any longer; his assassination attempt fails miserably with Cerberus becoming Kojiro's ally. Creating a virtual world, Gagyson kidnaps Kojiro's innocent younger brother, forcing Kojiro to go after him.
Gagyson intends on absorbing Kojiro's Magnetite until he "dies a painful death", trapping and fatally injuring him in the process with his demons. In the real world, Akito angrily disapproves of Gagyson's actions towards Kojiro, and his response is simple: "Our contract with you was for the annihilation of humans. I don't remember promising to spare Kojiro Souma". Gagyson usurps Akito's position and we get the reveal that Gagyson was only using the boy as his puppet from the very beginning, ordering the demons to beat the crap out of him and impaling a girl whose body possesses heavy amounts of Magnetite with a sword, sacrificing her and finally bringing President Ose to the human world, who proceeds to fight with the revived Kojiro, Masakado. The epic battle results in massive destruction around Tokyo with explosions, tornadoes and buildings collaping everywhere. To make the damage even worse, Gagyson sacrifices his own body for Ose, giving him wings, which only leads to more chaos, just as Gagyson wished.
Freudian Excuses? Unlike Akito, Gagyson has none, he just wants the genocide of humans.
Heinous? Definately, Gagyson is directly and indirectly responsible for most of the tragedies for his manipulation of Akito Kobayashi and succesfully summoning President Ose by killing one of Kojiro's friends.
Conclusion? First SMT proposal, what you say?

Gagyson
And to think that I could have watching this OVA all the time but I didn't.
With Persona Trinity Soul and the Devil Survivor manga plus this, we may just add a "Other media" section to the page. Anyone support this?

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."
to Gagyson. And I second the suggestion of putting an "Other Media" section for the Shin Megami Tensei page.
Remember, Grand Master Rose is a man. Rose.
Also, anytime we discussed Berg Katze from Gatchaman Crowds? I think that I can do both a argument for him and against him. Offscreen Villainy is kind of a issue but he also remains a really nasty person otherwise with a notable historial of emotional violence. Like, he literally caused a social chaos on Japan. If nobody had done it, then I want to do it.
