During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Anyways, I also bump this post for another question.
Do you think this factor is mitigating: "A villain who kills some of his subordinates after seeing them taking the heroes as a hostage. Not because he care for the hostage but because in his view, taking hostages feels inelegant/lack of aesthetic and he prefers to challenge his enemies in combat."
So yeah, with that being said, do you think this is mitigating or not? Oh! And if you asked me about the work... This is the work Lighty recommend to me and I'm still at Chapter 70/349 so just wait till I finished and I'll bring that guy here.
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."![]()
I don't think Negative Continuity is a major issue with this trope seeing as Katz and Fusilli are on the trope despite their attrocites being undone in the following episodes. Maybe in South Park but on its own it probably isn't.
Well, that Togepi EP could have gone better. I was hoping to give Darkrai a buddy in the Pure Evil Pokemon club. Nevertheless, here's my EP.
What's The Work?
Freedom Planet: The Darkest Day
is a Freedom Planet Fan Fic by Mixedfan8643
. It is set after the events of Curse of the Dark Stone (another fic by the same author). In it, Lilac is in the public's bad books for stuff that was not her fault. This isn't helped at all by an elderly turtle named Timothy accusing her of being evil. She manages to vindicate herself by saving Dail from the Red Scarves, and Carol and Milla decide to play a prank on Timothy who tried to demonize her, which turns out to be a really bad idea, because he's actually working for my candidate.
Who is He? What Has He Done?
Memphis the Dragon is Lilac's Evil Uncle and the Big Bad of this fic and the next one
. He is Natalya's evil ex-boyfriend who believed dragons were superior to others. He murdered his brother Stephen (Lilac's father) and Stephen's wife Dawn (Lilac's mother) for their refusal to embrace his twisted idea of a perfect world and frightens his niece into running away. This caused Natalya to snap and turn to a live of crime.
Years later, Memphis is in hiding. He is the one who sent Timothy out to continue slandering Lilac. He is more than a little upset that his niece redeemed herself by fighting off the Red Scarves, but after hearing of the prank played by Carol and Milla, he decides he now has evidence to make Lilac look bad. He tells her to take a picture of Lilac and Natalya hugging (which Timothy doesn't enjoy, as he's actually a big fan of dragons). Timothy then shows the photo to public and tells them that Lilac is plotting with Natalya. He also uses the prank to tell people that Lilac sent Carol and Milla to play the prank on him, putting Lilac back in the kingdom's disfavor. A furious Lilac yells at Carol and banishes her from the treehouse, but later feels remorseful and goes to search for her, only for Memphis to use the dust from the Dark Stone (an evil artifact that was destroyed in the previous story) to turn her evil.
To make a long story short, Lilac does a lot of bad stuff under the influence of the dust and is exiled. This is when Memphis makes his move. He rigs to votes to make Timothy win the election, and Timothy then hands authority over to him, allowing him to take over Avalice. Carol, Milla, and Natalya go to the palace to try and overthrow him, but Carol makes a slip that causes him to find them. He almost gets frozen by Neera, but regulates his body temperature to melt the ice, and then captures our heroes, locks them in the dungeon, and decides to put his ex-girlfriend to death.
Fortunately, Lilac learns of this and races back to Avalice. She manages to thwart Memphis's attempt to kill Natalya and then engages in battle with him. He curses himself for not corrupting her, but decides she's no longer worth corrupting, and decided to just kill her. After a brief bit of combat, he decides to just shoot her, but Timothy (deciding he's done working for such a bastard) shields her with his shell. Angry, Memphis shoots him dead and attempts the same thing with Lilac. Fortunately, she's too fast for him, and he's soon out of ammo. After she lands a few hits on him, he grabs her with his prehensile tendril and starts to strangle her. Lilac manages to save herself by kicking him in the groin, but Memphis incinerates the place with his fire breath and then makes his getaway.
In his throne, Memphis sends the Sky Battalion to attack the kingdoms, but Lilac reaches him, ready to take him down. Memphis admits to having always hated her, goes at her with his "favorite toy", and tells her her friends will be next. After hearing his sob story (which will be covered more later on), Lilac resumes attacking Memphis, but he cuts her tendrils off. With her incapacitated, he's ready to finish her off, but the door suddenly opens, and Natalya comes in, sees the damage, and goes ballistic! Memphis tries to cut her tendrils off too, but she fights him off. Sadly, Memphis soon gains the upper hand, grabs his ex-girlfriend, and threatens to kill her unless Lilac surrenders. Luckily, Dail shoots at the palace and allows Natalya to escape. Not one to give up, Memphis tries to use his swirl blade again, but Lilac kicks him in the back, allowing Natalya to kick the blade out of his hands.
Memphis goes mad and breathes flames at Natalya, causing her to drop her katana. Before he can grab it, though, Lilac kicks him into a wall. The evil man stays put, hoping to through her through a hole, but Lilac dropkicks him in the face. While they're still fighting, another missile rocks the flagship, causing them both to be thrown out of the hole. Lilac manages to pull herself back in, but Memphis isn't so lucky. He's stuck hanging onto a mooring rope that's dangerously close to snapping. He plaintively begs her to help him, but she refuses, and he plummets to his doom.
He does have one, but it isn't portrayed as adequate. He and his family were picked on by others for being dragons. He was constantly abused and unable to understand why. The trouble? Natalya had also suffered abuse but had no one to help her. Memphis, on the other hand, had family to help him, and still turned evil. He doesn't seem to care very much about what happened to his parents, either. Lilac even calls him out on how flimsy his excuse is.
Heinous Standard?
He clears it. With a couple of confirmed and attempted murders under his belt, Memphis proves himself to be a truly nasty piece of work. He does have to compete with Brevon (who is just as nasty as his canon self and may be worth an EP), but doesn't have his resources.
Redeeming Qualities?
If he did, do you think I'd be proposing him?
Verdict?
Found this at YMMV.Foxfire.
- Complete Monster: the Kuchisake-Onna's lover Hongqi, son of Quon. To humiliate his lover, he disfigured her by giving her a Glasgow Grin and destroyed her emotionally by taking away her children and preventing her from seeing them. When she was driven to suicide, he disposes the children by trapping them in an active kiln and shutting it closed with earthbending. Which cremated the children alive.
I already notified the troper, but I will say this guy sounds damn nasty.
Memphis
By the way. When Keisuke' entry is going to be add to Shin Megami Tensei?
Because. I have a idea for a.pic of him in the page. But dunno. The scene of him killing a Marebito member. Thought it might be too long. Thought it can be a Gihren, image of him ordering a crime and the aftermath of said.crime.

Watch me destroying my countryBe specific please. He intends.on killing the people there? Something. Even a.vague "destroy it".
Watch me destroying my countryHe was a very nasty ruler. Here's his speech:
"As the new Mayor of Shang Mu, there will be some changes around here and some very strict rules. All the people of the kingdom have to serve me faithfully and willingly. Any attempts to defy me will be met with instant death. You are not to rebel against me or try to attack me. If you do, you will be executed. Execution will now be a method of punishment again and I'm sure you'd all rather keep your heads. And also I'd like to remind you that I have the Dark Stone's Energy in my parlour. If you dare try anything foolish, I might use it on you and have you attack your friends and loved ones. I demand loyalty and respect. If you apply to my very basic needs, you will be allowed to live your lives in peace. Do NOT give me a reason to have to execute you all one by one. That is a warning and my ONLY warning. Understand?"
Help me!

It depends on how too much that they are Played for Laughs that’s a disqualification
I think Eric Cartman would be an example of someone despite the vast atrocities committed is too Played for Laughs to qualify as a CM. (then again the Negative Continuity of South Park kinda prevents anyone from qualifying in the show)
Also Negative Continuity is another important factor that could prevent someone from qualifying as someone who commits something very atrocious in one episode but it’s never brought up in the next, Again another reason why Cartman or most other horrible human beings Played for Laughs don’t qualify
