During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

@Minister Of Sinister Seems like it yes. Though some of them had it coming, some of them are not deserved (Looks at Nobby's Nightmare)
Also, anyone have an opinion other than ACW on my Fabian Cortez trimmed writeup?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Just so you guys can get an idea of what kind of stories Grizzly Tales tells, check out this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeE7NOWMFA4
The animation is weird, the story downright terrifying. If nothing else they got the traumatize part right.

Wether or not Volta is to goofy seems a bit subjective. Though I can still see your point even if I disagree with it. Eh maybe in the future where more people have seen it to offer there Thoguhts but for now? Oh well.
Also I maintain my yes to the farmer given the resources thing, as well as other villains simmualr actions are taken less seriously from what I've heard.
Things are really about to get Fun around hereOh, him? Lol that's Kaptin Bluddflagg; you may know him from Dawn of War II: Retribution. He's my avatar because he's awesome, and the tagline is there because the Ork accent is inherently funny.
Well with 10
, 5
, and 1 abstain, what do you think of this?
- Complete Monster: Although he wasn't the character on focus, Farmer Tregowan from "The Chipper Chums Go Scrumping" is truly depraved. He comes at the Chipper Chums, yells at them for stealing his apples, and guns down their dog when he tries to attack. When they say they have eaten the apples, Farmer Tregowan decides to just squeeze it out of them, and when they are paralyzed by his pesticide, he crushes them with his cider press.
Not bad, but I think it could do with a touch-up. Here's my recommendation:
- Although he wasn't the central character of the story, Farmer Tregowan from "The Chipper Chums Go Scrumping" is truly depraved. When he finds the titular Chipper Chums stealing apples from a tree that he uses to make cider, he yells at them for it and guns down their dog when he tries to protect his owners. When they say they have eaten the apples, Farmer Tregowan reveals he laced the apples with pesticide and decides to just squeeze the juice out of them; when the children are paralyzed by the pesticide, the cruel farmer crushes them with his cider press and removes the juice from their stomachs.
Yeah, that makes sense. Add back the Corrupt Hick pothole since that just makes two.
Depotholing One and Shadow.
- Warriors of the Wasteland: One, leader of the Templars, and his right-hand Shadow, believe only in the destruction of any remaining human beings in the post-apocalyptic future. Regularly leading their forces to massacre innocent colonies, Shadow also takes great pleasure in making his victims' deaths as painful as possible. When their old comrade Scorpion resurfaces protecting innocent colonies, the pair instantly target him, and after capturing and torturing Scorpion, Shadow assists One in raping him before having him left for dead. The two then attempt to massacre the colony Scorpion was protecting, with Shadow gleefully gunning down every innocent person he sees before Scorpion manages to stop them.
So. I'd finished Persona -trinity soul-. I'm not going to lie, I was lucky to have the time to finish it due to a Protest that left with a extra free hour. I've watched all the series...except a single A Day In The Lightime for The Big Girl (I'm going to.watch it later) . Which don't matter for EP purposes.
So. This guy have...a extremely ambiguous redeeming trait and a last line that...sort of invalidates said trait.
Dude easily blows the Persona Heinous Standard.
Watch me destroying my countryBefore I propose my next candidate, here's something I've been thinking about:
- Complete Monster: The evil Witch from Dora's Fairytale Adventure. She's probably as outright evil as a villain can get for this show, putting a sleeping spell on Boots that would last forever if Dora didn't break it in time For the Evulz, then did everything she could to stop Dora from breaking it. It's also pretty much stated that she was causing everyone in the fairytale world a huge amount of grief for the same reason. She's also one of the few villains in the show to actually be defeated and not perform a Heel–Face Turn.
Seeing as she's listed under Vile Villain, Saccharine Show, and we've gotten examples from Animalia, Rainbow Brite, and the first generation of My Little Pony, I don't think this entry was bad so much because it was from a kid's show as because it was a borderline Zero-Context Example. I've never seen the special, but could anyone who has give a guess as to why she doesn't qualify?
Help me!We're never having an example from fucking Dora the Explorer. No. Never, ever, ever happening — remember the two Sugar Bowl villains we do have are the exception rather than the norm. For example? Actual attempted body counts (the Creeper flat-out states "I'm off to other worlds — as the only survivor of Animalia!").
