During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

All right, here goes:
What is the Work?
Bastille Day (known as The Take in North America) is a 2016 action film starring Idris Elba and Richard Madden as a Cowboy Cop CIA agent and pickpocket who have to team up to stop possible terrorist attacks and a robbery on Bastille Day (hence the title).
Who is it?
Victor Gamieux is the head of the DGSI (a French intelligence agency) and Dirty Cop who is attempting to rob the French National Bank.
What Does He Do?
Gamieux has his dragon Rafi Bernard, a top member of a French assault team called RAPID, set up a bomb at the offices for the French Nationalist Party. However, the woman who was supposed to plant the bomb, named Zoe, got cold feet when there were employees inside. An American pickpocket named Michael Mason (Madden) steals the bag containing the bomb, not knowing there was a bomb inside, and drops it into a trash can where it explodes, blowing up four people. Gamieux's associate Jean, who gave Zoe the bomb, allows her to escape lest she be killed. Mason is caught by CIA agent Sean Briar (Elba) while Gamieux has Rafi plant fake evidence at a mosque to stir up anti-Muslim sentiment and post videos as distractions. Briar and Mason manages to find Zoe and the three discover that Jean, who has hanged himself, was also a cop. When Briar contacts his boss Karen Dacre to inform her that Mason and Zoe were set up, Gamieux agrees to take Mason and Zoe into protective custody, only to kill Dacre and send Rafi to pick up Briar, Mason and Zoe to be murdered by Rafi's men. However, Zoe recognizes one of the henchmen and the three kill Rafi's men in a fight inside the van. On Bastille Day, with a crowd in front of the bank, Rafi attempts to download the money, about half a million euros, while his men provide security. Briar manages to infiltrate the bank disguised as one of Rafi's men and engages in a shootout, while Mason and Zoe incite a riot as a distraction. Rafi threatens to rat out Gamieux if he is apprehended, so Gamieux has the remaining cops kill Rafi. Sometime later, Mason, who stole the hard drive with the money on it from Rafi, meets with Gamieux on the pretense of a deal for money, a passport and a way of getting out of France. Gamieux shoots Mason and is arrested by Briar, whereupon it's revealed that Mason was wearing a Bulletproof Vest.
None. Just Greed.
Mitigating Circumstances?
None, really.
Heinousness?
He's the Big Bad, he sets it. Rafi is The Heavy, but takes his orders from Gamieux.
Verdict?
Keeper.

"I'll show you the Dark Side." CM actors and kills@miraculous Ah that makes sense!
@Hamburger Time @ACW Yeah, have to admit that the competition in Shonen Jump is really brutal especially if there are some new manga that always reach the low rank of the To C and keeps going like that, no doubt they would be axed. Shame that some of the manga that got axed does have a potential to become good like Amalgam of Distortion, Stealth Symphony, Kiruko San and recently, Noah's Notes that got horribly axed due to low sales and rankings. Shame that I do want to reserve Noah's Notes for CM and MB cleanup but given the brutal competition in SJ? Yeah... As a result, lots of Karma Houdini because of cancellation happened (Looks at Atlas from Red Sprite)
Though speaking of SJ, I'm going to look forward into two or three new SJ title. I also message Lighty about it. It's called Chainsaw Man and Ne 0;lation. And if you're interested on collabing with me regarding those mangas, I'm all ears
For Garnieux? I'll give a tentative yea. Maybe because I don't know the work at all.

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Sure to Gamieux.
And in case I forgot.
- Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2: In this Alternate Continuity, this version of Elly Kedward AKA the Blair Witch is depicted as being less mysterious in favour of being more upfront and personable. The spirit that haunts the woods of Burkettsville and responsible for centuries of death and disappearances, especially of children, when Erica theorizes that Kedward was an innocent victim of persecution and makes contact with Kedward, the witch is revealed to be a malicious being who starts of tormenting the tour group with visions of her child victims, and is implied to caused Tristen to have a miscarriage. Later it's revealed, the witch has been possessing and not just Tristen and Erica, but the rest of their group as well, with an addtion of gaslighting; having them slaughter a group of tourists in a ritualistic orgy; have Kim kill a woman she had an argument with; and seemingly have Jeff kill Erica. When the group confronts a seemingly possessed Tristen, who goads them into hanging her, a tape later reveals that the witch had them under a delusion while killing a terrified Tristen, ruining the lives of her friends.

"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."Alright. Right up time. Thanks 43110 for the help.
- Creatures of Forever: Landulf of Capa is a practitioner os the Satanic arts who rules Crusades-Era Southern Italy with an iron fist and wishes to shift the balance of power towards evil. Once a member of the Vatican, Landulf was cast out for invoking Satan's spirit and angered at being stripped of his position, Landulf terrorized all of Southern Europe, invading it with evil creatures and spreading chaos. Ripping the eyes out of his victims' skulls and pulling the bones out of his slaves to eat while they are still alive, Landulf also regularly kidnaps young women to crucify, enjoying every moment of their pain and suffering. Opening the gates of Europe to the opposing Arab army, Landulf delights at the idea of watching the world go ablaze with war as millions are killed. Planning to time travel to corrupt the titular last vampire, Landulf's scheme would result in the destruction of the entire section of the galaxy holding Earth.
- Thirst sub series: Overarching Villain Tarana/Lucifer, "The Light Bearer", believes himself greater than God and after being cast out for his failed rebellion, seeks to doom humanity to prove his superiority. Corrupting the peaceful Telar race into worshipping him, Tarana has them regularly commit sacrifice in his name and commit various atrocities throughout human history including The Holocaust. Capturing Sita with Heinrich Himmler during the Holocaust, Tarana painfully tortured her for information via burning, allowing her supernatural healing ability to constantly close the wound and draw out the pain. Growing bored of the Telar, Tarana finds replacement servants through IIC, a company that used the "Array": psychics that could take control of a person and force them commit horrific acts provided a sacrifice was provided. Using their horrible powers and the company, Tarana is able to secretly conquer much of the world and releases a computer program to turn people into mindless zombies under his command. Turning his former servants in the Telar and IIC against each other, Tarana simply sits back to enjoy the bloodshed and is enraged at Sita defeating both groups. As his ultimate plan to send humanity to ruin, Tarana makes plans to discover time machines so he can go back to World War II and make the Nazis win, uncaring for the utter dystopia he would leave humanity under as long as he gets to feel he won over the God he despises.
Thoughts ?

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Here's the WU for Zanara.
- Capella's Promise: Second Prince Zanara Capella was once a child who dissected and stitched animals together, only to carry his god complex into adulthood. After his father discovers the Mother machine, Zanara aids him in using the device to painfully fuse Ilnacia's most talented citizens into monstrous Hute soldiers, but eventually commits patricide, takes over the operation, and fuses with Mother. With his newfound power, Zanara sends a Hute army after his brother for opposing him and has any Hute who defies him either killed or forced to fuse with another Hute. Near the end of the game, Zanara has his Hutes attack all of Ilnacia in order to solidify his rule, with no regard for the innocents he kills or absorbs into Mother.
Unsure about Gamieux. Besides trying to stir up the anti-Muslim sentiment (which MAY be enough), he doesn't really do anything that seems to me to exceed generic action villain actions.
EDIT: BTW, Mir, will the other Dresden entries be getting rewrites as well?
EDIT 2: Oh, and pending 43's approval:
- Skies of Arcadia: Admiral Galcian is loyal only to power. When first seen, Galcian is a military man working for the nation of Valua and its empress Teodora. A ruthless man who tries to wipe out Vyse and the heroes at any cost, Galcian pursues an agenda of hunting down moon crystals to enhance his own personal power. After finding the superweapon he's been looking for, Galcian reveals his true colors and uses it on Valua, his own nation. His reasoning is that if he obliterates the most powerful country, the other nations will fall in line.

Yes especially Corpsetaker and Shangasty which aren't great at the moment. Kulkucan seems fine
When I add Raith to the drafts. We can make a tree and as i rewrite we can replace. All should go at the same time
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Im not sure theres anything you can remove in kulkucan's entry. Like the guy is nasty.
Only Nicodemus amd maybe lady Aurora (Since well starting the ice age which would eventually kill off most of humanity. But it would take decades, so it's a debatable case) succeeds him in villany.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Uh Aurora is an absolute no. She's a Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds driven insane by a corrupting force and thinks she's doing the right thing.
Her second In command Lloyad slate would have been a better candidate considering he helped her and is an all round scumbag and rapist. Howver he wss corrupted by the winter knight mantle. Considering that when Harry gets said mantle he gets fantasies about raping and killing people. Lloyds agency is pretty much gone.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Am I the only one who thinks Victor
seems like a generic action baddie?
And in case anyone's missed it: This week's batch
.
Okay, good, not just me. Now, FYI, if someone's EXPLICITLY trying to start a race war (like Cally of Criminal Minds or Rausch of Law & Order (who has numerous murders besides), that's a different matter.

@Elfen: I think Shanti fails the heinous standard of the others.
