During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Vodnik and Mcguire
So is Macguire, the first CM for René Auberjonois
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Is anyone here familiar with Legend of the Blue Wolves. This entry is a bit short and coild do with a rewrite.
- Complete Monster: The depraved Captain Continental tries to sexually subdue subordinates who take his fancy, and if they refuse him, he Whips them and beats them half to death unless they submit. If that doesn't work, he just rapes them and forces them to participate in various sexual activities with absolutely no remorse. He seems to get sexual pleasure out of breaking, beating up, and raping people, including Jonathan.
Didn't we use to have another Channel Awesome keep. I think I remember seeing one before I joined.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI found this unapproved entry on Dragaera.
- Complete Monster: Although Vlad meets a lot of nasty people, Orbahn from Jhegaala deserves special mention for having an entire innocent family slaughtered, merely on the suspicion that the new arrival in Burz might be carrying a grudge over a decades-old dispute.
Anyine famlair with this ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."@Bullman: That entry might've been cut.
@miraculous: No to either, but apparently Legend of the Blue Wolves is just forty-five minutes long. ...Huh. Gonna jot that OVA on my To-Do list actually; been trying to watch more anime anyway.
I write stories and shiz. You can read them here. For being Played for Laughs too many instances. The narrative also didn't feel the need for him to be punished gravely with his punishment of being condemned to work at a coffee shop as a purely humorous sentence.

Okay! Sundered Lands write-ups done. As is the Legend of the Blue Wolves rewrite.
- Legend of the Blue Wolves: Captain Continental is the depraved leader of a group of soldiers. As their leader, Continental forces the subordinates he takes sexual interest in to submit to him, where he repeatedly whips and rapes them, brainwashing them into doing whatever he wants. After becoming infatuated with Jonathan, Continental forces him to strip to his underwear and whips him when he refuses to submit. He later publicly humiliates Jonathan by beating him to a pulp in front of his other subordinates. Knowing that Jonathan's lover, Leonard, is behaving as his guardian, Continental gets some of his subordinates to split Jonathan and Leonard apart so he can violently rape Jonathan in the showers.
- Sundered Lands:
- Grinder Prickleback is an ambitious hedgehog who desires the Six Crowns of the Badgers of Power. Jealous over the Badger Lords refusing to share their magical powers, Grinder tried to create a spell that would control their minds so he could acquire their power. He inadvertently ended up blowing up the entire world, killing millions in the process and turning the Sundered Lands into thousands of floating islands, while the Badger Lords dispelled their power into six separate crowns. When Grinder, now donning the name Herald "Percy" Pursuivant, comes across Trundle and Esmeralda on their journey to find the crowns, he helps them on their quest solely so he can take the crowns from them and use their power to Take Over the World. After all six crowns are found and taken to the altar that will unleash their power, Grinder immediately betrays Trundle and Esmeralda, threatening to kill them if they don't surrender the crowns to him.
- Captain Grizzletusk is the leader of a group of corsairs who plunder and murder at their own leisure. After being contacted by Millie Rose Thorne, the two conspire to work together to retrieve the aforementioned six crowns and relish in their power. Grizzletusk and his crew constantly chase after Trundle and Esmeralda, going from island to island robbing and/or killing anyone in their path. He also attempts to attack and pillage the island of Swallowhaven just to needlessly fuel his greed, slaughtering dozens of soldiers in the process. When the heroes acquire all the crowns and head to Sunsett to unleash their power, Grizzletusk forces his crew to keep pursuing them, not caring as his crew is gradually slain from various booby-traps. When Razorback tries to convince what's left of the crew to cut their losses and run, Grizzletusk simply threatens to kill him if he tries to leave.
Thanks honestly I'm not surprised. I always thought Malachite was played for laughs to much as well.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup thread
Frolaytia X Qwenthur of Heavy Object
Found an unapproved entry on Science Ninja Team Gatchaman: Sosai X, the main Big Bad of the series, and arguably the most evil character Tatsunoko have created. His main goal is destroy the earth with all the humans in it. He sees his henchmen as nothing more than tools for his plans, and will execute them or sentence them to hard labour for failing him or outliving their usefulness to him. He is responsible for everything bad that happens in the series, and he has no qualms of having children kidnapped and mutated into his own subordinates.
I'll notify the troper right away.
IPP Wick Check created.Jeez, a MK and D&D movie reboot? Man, so many reboots announced out at such short notice.
What Is the Work?
Devil's Third is a 2015 Wii U game by Tomonobu Itagaki. Announced in 2010, the game had a troubled production, mainly due to originally being made as an Xbox 360 exclusive published by THQ, but once they went bankrupt, with the title transferring to a Korean publisher… who also went bankrupt, before getting Nintendo to publish the game once and for all. During that time, the game kept changing engines and gameplay mechanics, which didn’t help when the current build wasn’t that compatible with the Wii U. In the end, Nintendo lost faith in the game, gave it zero advertising, and was a critical and financial bomb.
So what’s the plot? Well, the game takes place after a catastrophic event called the "Kessler Effect" has come to pass, stripping the world of satellite communication, causing changes in both greater civilization and warfare in order to adapt to this dramatic shift in technological deficiency. A Vin Diesel look-alike covered in Sanskrit tattoos named Ivan, a lone wolf special operations soldier, must work with the American military after being arrested to take down the School of Democracy, an organization led by Isaac Kumano, a Russian-Japanese who intends to restore true world order by destroying satellites. It’s essentially Call of Duty and Metal Gear if it were told by a poor man’s Hideaki Kamiya.
I have two candidates to propose from the game. One that looks to count, and another I’m curious about, but one step at a time.
Who Is he?
Big Mouse is the Spanish member of the School of Democracy, serving as their bio-weapon specialist, having previously worked as one for the US Marines.
What has he done?
As the crew’s scientist, he created the Chimera virus, a transgenic medicine which grants one super strength at the cost of releasing a deadly poison into their veins. He experimented on both him, his men, and his own wife Jane Doe, causing the latter to become traumatized. His men and random civilians were used as guinea pigs and ended up becoming mutated freaks that kill all in their path. The redefined serum would be later used by his comrades to power them up.
In the past, he started a biological assault on an unnamed town by unleashing his gas onto it. Heading there along with Ivan, Ludmilla, and C4, he shoots a wounded civilian lying on the town road. Ivan looks into the remains of a hospital that was gassed by Big Mouse to find some dead children. Telling Mouse if it was necessary to kill the kids, Mouse responds with “Kill ‘em while they’re young, cabron,” which causes Ivan to quit the SOD. When C4 assists in Ivan’s escape, Mouse shoots her in the shoulder. He would have killed her, if the US military hadn’t arrived, causing him and Ludmilla to retreat. He would later retrieve the injured C4 and genetically alter her to become a never-aging weapon; but this isn’t out of love or respect. No instead, it’s because C4 has a natural resistance to the bio-weapon, and Big Mouse decided to use her blood as a way to create the transgenic medicine for his soldiers.
In the present, Big Mouse leads the SOD to take over the Panama Canal to destroy worldwide maritime traffic and block off a US Army/trade route, bringing biological weapons and his soldiers to the battle. When Ivan meets him in a church, Mouse slams Ivan for letting his men die while he lounged in prison (never mind the fact that he used his own soldiers as guinea pigs). Once he’s taken down, he slams him for being a traitor to the cause before injecting himself with a serum that beefs him up. Finally defeated, Mouse uses his last breath to brag about his accomplishment in leaving the Panama and Suez Canal in ruins.
Redeeming Qualities?
While he claims to be abiding by Isaac’s well-intentioned morals and states that he loves his soldiers, he’s shown to never care for his men, and takes great pleasure in his acts of violence.
Heinousness?
Now Isaac, the leader, is not a nice guy. He’s the one responsible for the Kessler Effect, and had wanted to destroy some countries with his nuclear warheads. But, he’s shown to be caring for his students/soldiers, and genuinely believes that he’s creating a better world.
Big Mouse is not those things. He creates a zombie epidemic, leaves an entire city in ruin, uses his own wife as a guinea pig, and is willing to kill children. His goals don’t match well with Isaac’s.
Conclusion
I see him as a keep.
