During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Thanos.
Anyway, here's something I was holding back on for a few years due to translation. Pupa is a horror manga about two siblings — Utsutsu and Yume respectively — who live by themselves after their abusive father left them and their mother was taken to a mental ward. While walking home, Yume encounters red butterflies and a sickly dog. This causes a change within Yume to develop, and she transforms into a bloodthirsty insectoid monster. in order to satiate her hunger, Utsutsu must be her main source of food. Was adapted a few years back into a 12 episode anime by the notorious Studio DEEN.
Who is she?
Ai Imari, formerly known as Maria Iamri, is a researcher of a rare disease called the "Pupa virus" that causes its victim to suffer from ravenous hunger because it would seep into the victim's cells, thus leading to them metamorphizing into a heteromorphic form. When she was born, her parents were horrified of her because of her emotionless tendencies. As for pass time? She would spend it by dissecting animals for scientific curiosity. Eventually, her mother became so petrified of her, she talked her husband into sending her to live with her grandfather Genjurou Imari. Around that time, her older brother paid her a visit, but became enraptured by her appearance. One day while he was boiling tea, Maria discovered his porcelain doll collection and queries him on them. Fearful, he hits her with the boiling tea, disfiguring her left eye and scarring it. Instead of being distraught, Ai sees it as an opportunity to become — as she puts it— a monster. So she went about trying to become one.
What has she done?
Thirty years ago, Imari discovered two Pupa larva on the island and conducts torturous experiments on them for research., Eventually, one of the monsters escaped the laboratory, inching its way into a hospital where it impregnates Sachiko Hasegawa, becoming reborn as Yume. As for the other monster, Yuu, he would eventually escape and would try to trigger Yume's memories of him. During that time frame, Imari creates a new strand of the Pupa Virus using Yuu's cells. This strand was especially dangerous as it could kill people who contracted it instantaneously.
Years later, while Utsutsu and Yume were walking home, they bump into Imari who advises them to not look at the "red butterflies." This leads to Yume spotting them, and she becomes an insectoid monster and goes on a rampage. Meeting Imari again, Imari orders her men to clean up the bodies, having anticipated this happening. After Utsutsu fails to speak reason to his sister and is eaten by her, Yume returns to her humanoid form seeing the carnage she had committed. To drive the nail further, Imari psychologically tortures her by informing that she had eaten her own brother. While any normal human would die from the virus, Utsutsu regenerates from being eaten alive. Intrigued by this, Imari offers to give them the anti-Pupa drug as long as they would return to be examined by her. Whilst spying on the two, her assistant Hotoki asks her what she intended to do if Yume were to revert back to her bestial form, Imari responds by stating that it would be "interesting."
Alright, so what is Imari's end goal in all of this? Well, as a way of becoming a monster, Imari became interested in giving birth to a Pupa monster? The reason for the examinations? So she could gather cells from the siblings and insert them into herself. After a few weeks, her pregnancy is made more apparent. However, in order for her plan to get into fruition, she had to assimilate the two siblings. She returns to the island and effortlessly absorbs Yume, placing her in a state of endless pain by merging her cells with hers. So this leads to a somewhat bizarre ending where Utsutsu is absorbed, sees what I assume to be his and Yume's child, and we also learn that Utsutsu is another Pupa monster having become one due to Yume reconverting him when he got into a near fatal accident when he pushed his sister out of the direction of a bus. The two siblings eat each others meat, becoming butterflies. Imari herself survives and succeeds at giving birth to a Pupa monster.
Freudian Excuse? Mitigating factors
So, Imari was born emotionless with no outside forces playing any part in it. As for her brother disfiguring her, this isn't presented sympathetically. Instead, this furthers Imari's interest in becoming a monster. As for her relationship with her assistant Hotoki (who is her older brother having renamed himself), it's one-sided. Hotoki remains by her side out of love for her, but Imari herself doesn't return it. At most, while she doesn't act like a Bad Boss to him, she also doesn't display any affection to him. At most, she does admit that it would've been interesting having his baby, but that in itself isn't mitigating as she viewed the idea more as a thought experiment than out of any true love for her brother.
Like I've said, she only helps the Hasegawa siblings because she needs their cells in order to birth a monster. She takes the opportunity to psychologically break her by rubbing it in to her that her brother died because of her. As for anything else, she does free Shiro from the imprisonment his adopted grandfather subjected him to, but this is also not out of altruism but rather morbid curiosity and she then tries to Mind Rape him as well.
Heinous standard
She is the closest thing the manga has to a main antagonist. She created a strand of the Pupa virus which was considered so dangerous, a research facility was made to battle her research; she psychologically torments characters; she subjects characters to severe torture by merging her cells with them. As for the body count, while Yume killed several people in the park, the fact is that Imari knew that something like this would happen because she knew about Yume's true nature hence her ordering her staff to clean up the bodies. As such, I would personally attribute at least half of Yume's body count to her. She also has no qualms with having Yume go on another rampage if it would be fascinating.
As for other characters, Shiro is at first depicted as n assholish Abusive Parent, but then we learn that he was like that because his adoptive father subjected him to daily torture thus warping his mind into believing that abusing people was a form of love. That, and he actually did love his son in his own way and tried to save him from his sister. Yuu himself was the one to trigger the emergence within Yume, but that is his only major action which was the final resort that he decided to implement in order to make Yume remember him again. Imari's grandfather abused Shiro daily for his paintings and was clearly a perverted bastard, but he only appears in a brief flashback.
Overall, given her resources and willingness to allow Yume to continue to feast on the populace, I feel she stands out in that department.
Conclusion
Ultimately, could go either way with her. Thoughts?

"The Cube turns on Thanos and annihilates him utterly before Reed..sends it back in time to be found by Thanos 30,000 years ago."
Um...that doesn't seem like a good idea. Yes to Ultimate Thanos though. I guess he'll go after Ultimate Reed? Something like:
- Ultimate Fantastic Four: Besides Reed himself, this version of Thanos retains the goals of his Prime counterpart, but none of the redeeming qualities...

Yes to everyone I missed expect the one from Pupa. Anyways here's one from the Superman Returns game.
Who is Mongul?
Mongul is the leader of Warworld where he forces prisoners to fight for his and his subject's amusement. He captures Superman on his way back to Earth from Krypton. He forces Superman to fight Plahtunes, and after Superman beats Plahtunes, Mongul sends in an army of Platoons. Mongul then sends in regning champion Overkhast to fight Superman. After Superman beats Overkhast, Mongul enters the ring to fight Superman himself. When Superman beats him, Mongul tries to goad him Superman into killing him. Superman spares him, but Mongul vows revenge.
Mongul tracks Superman to Earth and begins attacking Metropolis in order to get his attention. The two begin to fight but when Superman gets the upper hand Mongul has Overkhast attack innocents to distract Superman while he escapes. He then has Overkhast and Plahtune attack the city multiple times. During his final battle with Superman, Mongul calls astroids down on the city. As he starts to lose Mongul has his men attack citizens in order to hurt Superman. He is beaten by Superman and forced to leave.
Henious standard?
He is the worst in the game do to his sadistic personality and cowardness.
Redeeming factors?
Ha! No none.
Conclusion?
I say keep.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadSomeone messaged me to do a write up for Chrysalis. So here we go:
- Equestria: Across the Multiverse: Princess Spring Heart/'Chrysalis', the Arc Villain of the Winter Wedding Arc and Chrysalis's Alternate Self from the world of My Little Pony Tales, is Princess Rosie's Evil Aunt who was banished from the Isle of Pony for attempting to murder her older sister Starburst and intentionally got her infant niece lost at sea in an attempt to usurp the throne and use the stash of magical artifacts the royal family protects to conquer the world. Years later, she kidnaps her sister Winter Song and impersonates her with intent of slaughtering their entire family to continue her plans, including the now teenaged Rosie and Patch. When that plan is foiled, she attempts to slaughter the entire wedding party with her stolen jaunt tech-enhanced army, with a Dead Man Switch that will nuke the Isle if she dies, eventually turning her homeland into a warzone. As her plans fall apart, she stops carrying about killing her own soldiers in the crossfire of her Humongous Mecha and ultimately orders her sub to nuke as many places as possible out of pure spite, nearly destroying Ponyland's capital in the process. Managing to be even more evil than her mainline counterpart, Spring Heart will destroy anyone and anything without a moment's regret to get what she desires.

My sandbox of EPs and other stuffBefore i watch a movie that was recommended to me by Duck (thx pal) i guess i still have time for a KR EP.
What is the work? Kamen Rider Wizard in Magic Land is a Summer movie for... Kamen Rider Wizard. Here, our hero Haruto is sent to another reality by the Drake Phantom, aka Magic Land, a place where magic is a substitute for science. Haruto meets the alternate versions of his friends and gains a new ally, young orphan Shiina. While the initial Big Bad, Emperor Maya, has redeeming qualities, his Evil Chancellor has none.
Who is Prime Minister Orma? Prime Minister Orma is Maya's cold right-hand man and the real identity of the Drake Phantom. Having abducted Koyomi to perform a ritual that would help create Magic Land, Drake assumes the position of Magic Land's Prime Minister as Orma. Knowing fully-well that Maya is unable to use magic, Orma takes advantage of his envy and hatred and hides this information from the public so he can use Maya as a Puppet King. Not satisfied with his high-ranking position, Orma lives another life as a Serial Killer, using his own driver to transform into Sorcerer, kidnapping groups of people with the Tornado Ring, bringing them to his lair, and sacrificing them to create the Thanatos Vessel
◊ with their bones, with one of his victims being Shiina's mother.
To Maya, the machine would destroy magic, leaving only the "muggles" to rule the world, but in reality, Thanatos Vessel was made with the sole intention of driving the citizens of Magic Land into despair to create a society of Phantoms. Shortly after the Thanatos Vessel is activated and the citizens start falling into despair, Orma reveals himself as the Drake Phantom and mocks Maya with the information that his negative emotions condemned Magic Land, applauding him and calling it "Grand, fateful and truly beautiful", and admitting that manipulating Maya was not an essential part of his plan, he just liked the idea of ruining his life just to see what his hatred for magic could do.
Freudian Excuses? Zero.
Heinous? While not as unique as Ogre or Gremlin, Drake is possibly the most successful Phantom to have been created, managing to drive an entire world into despair before it was permanently destroyed, enjoying the concept of playing with the feelings of a tragic figure solely to ruin his life For the Evulz.
Conclusion? A

Yes to Orma, Thanos, Van Eck, Heleen, Chard, the Psychopath, Max and Abraxas
No to Inari and Gateway.
As for Mongul, how much screen time and characterization does he get?
Anyway here is the write up for Lou Cranek:
- The Adventures of Superman: From the season 1 episode The Mind Machine, Lou Cranek is a major crime boss being investigated by a Senate sub committee for his illegal activities. Cranek kidnaps a scientist named Edward Stanton and steals a device Stanton invented that would use hypnosis to help mental patients. Cranek wants Stanton to use the machine as a Mind-Control Device and forces Stanton by knife point to force his former accountant to change his testimony in front of the committee. The accountant then goes insane, hijacks a bus with school children on it and nearly drives it over a cliff. Superman saves the children, but the accountant dies, the machine having destroyed his mind. Cranek uses the machine to silence and kill 2 other witnesses. When confronted with these deaths by Stanton, Cranek states he does not care and will use the machine himself when Stanton refuses to. Cranek plans to kill Stanton after he no longer needs him and plans to use the machine to silence the final witness against him, Lois Lane.

Yes to Orma.
Mongul gets several cutsceens at the beginning and get plenty of lines that show personality. He mocks Superman several times about his planet and tells his men specifically to attack humans to hurt and destract Superman. He also is shown to be a hypocrite as he calls Superman a coward for leaving after their fight, but he runs when he starts losing and uses several underhanded tactics to destract him to get an advantage.
