During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Deville.
Reaver and (back when he was still a CM) Mayuri kinda fascinated me. They were the only CMs I knew of who were neither Villain Protagonists nor antagonists (permanently anyway since Mayuri did start off as one, but even when no longer an antagonist was still a CM for a while) to the protagonists.
You don't see a lot of non-protagonist CMs whose purpose in the story isn't to conflict with the heroes.

So, question.
What's the protocol for redundant entries? YMMV.Castlevania has an entry for Satan from the Lords Of Shadow game, which is also a ZCE. YMMV.Castle Vania Lords Of Shadow 2 similarly has an entry that's just "Satan returns." The entry on YMMV.Castlevania Lords Of Shadow was clearly vetted by this thread, but what should be done about these ZC Es on the other pages?
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Yes to Deville.
So there are a couple of Superboy villains still worth considering and I will do the first one, with the second to come later. This one is a one shot villain from the episode Bringing Down the House from season 1.
Who is Judd Faust? What has he done?
Judd Faust (that name is a bad sign) is a famous musician who is attending Shuster University to get a master degree in music studies and is acting like a big shot for the students on campus. He gives Clark, Lana and their friends free tickets to a concert and invites them to his mansion to see his various collections (comic books, vintage cars, etc).
However Faust has more sinister hobbies in private, he wants to buy a local base ball area/amusement park and when the owner refuses to sell when Faust's manager Charles (who acts more like a goon/enforcer) makes an offer, Faust actively tries to devalue the business to force the owner to sell. At first its normal sabotage, cutting the power to the park, sabotaging the fridges that store the food for the park so that it spoils, etc, but Faust quickly decides to up his game. Faust has Charles dress up like a baseball mascot at a University baseball game and Charles replaces a normal baseball with a baseball containing a small but powerful bomb. Faust sends a message over the P.A that says a bomb will go off in 30 seconds, but everyone dismisses that as a hoax. Clark uses his ex ray vision to find the bomb, asks to be put up to bat next and uses his strength to knock the bomb out of the stadium, saving everyone there.
While hanging out at Faust's mansion, Clark gets a bad vibe about him and starts snooping around and finds the tape recorder with the bomb threat, Charles finds Clark and pulls a gun on him, but Faust pulls a gun on Charles. Clark explains what is going with the attempted bomibing and Faust puts all the blame on Charles and says he will have him arrested by the police. Clark leaves, but Faust had no intention of calling the cops (he picks up the phone, but puts it down as soon as Clark leaves the room).
Faust orders Charles to attack the park owner, with Charles knocking him out and covering him with alcohol, then throws the owner on a roller coaster track, so that he will get run over the roller coaster. Superboy saves the park owner and captures Charles, discovering that Faust is behind all of this.
During this episode, Lana has started to date Faust and after Charles is captured, Lana is at Faust's mansion for another date, where Faust wants to show her his special collection. He takes her to the basement, which is filled with gruesome torture devices. Lana asks if he collects torture devices and Faust says no, I collect the screams of torture victims. Faust overpowers her and puts her on the rack and begins to torture her, planning to record her screams for his collection. However Superboy bursts in and frees Lana from the rack before Faust can kill her. Superboy picks up Faust and seems ready to kill him, but Lana asks Superboy not to and Superboy turns him over to the police. Oh and it turns out Faust tortured 3 other women to death and buried their bodies under his mansion, so the guy is a serial killer/serial torturer on top of everything.
Is he heinous by the standards of the work?
I think so, he is wealthy, but does not run a mega corporation and does not have has access to super science or magic like other villains, so for a lower resource villain he does a lot, tries to kill the park owner, kill everyone at that base ball game and torture Lana, that's a good combo of a decent sized attempted body count and just personal cruelty. We do not see the other women he tortured to death, but it establishes a serial killer pattern.
Also Lana is in peril a lot in this show, but I think nearly dying on the rack goes far beyond normal peril. Also putting a boy scout like Sueprboy into a murderous rage take a very special kinda scum bag.
Any Freudian Excuse or other mitigating factor?
Yeah right. His good guy act was a cover to hide his cruelty and sadism, I think the only reason he did not shoot Clark at his mansion is he knew it bring heat on him, having someone killed at a public party.
Oh and why does he want that amusement park so much? Because the owner was not going to sell to him and wanted someone he knew he could not have, so this was just a sadistic game for him, which fits in with what we learn about him.
Final Verdict?
I say keep him.

It's Spooky Month!43, here's the exact entry for Lords of Shadow 2:
Faust. First CM for Leif Garrett?
BTW I just noticed this now but ultimate Reed Richard's, Mormon osborne and Dr Dr. Finitevus are listed as as Well-Intentioned Extremist 's in Comic Books. Since that's wrong, anyone wanna remove them.
that kids is why you don't use a phone well typing. Damn auto correct.
