During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

@ACW
I really don't think the by Matthew Colville, Mathew Mercer, et al is necessary. At all. No other CM from a comic book has the writers of said comic as part of the entry, and the "by Matthew Colville, Mathew Mercer, et al" part isn't part of tht title

Largo
Huh seems this superhero was revived recently for a comic called Project Superpowers. Wonder if anyone counts there ?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."@miraculous: Haven't read Project Superpowers, can't say, but I will note that that's a different continuity from this version of the character.
EDIT: Also, I know I said there was another I might wanna propose, but I forgot the character expressed remorse for one of his crimes.

Largo, gonna have to say
to the Killer.
Here's the Lane rewrite. I didn't add spoiler tags myself, as I just don't know how I would structure that.
- The Hard Way: Edward Lane is the psychotic head of an illegal mercenary operation, and the true Big Bad of the story. An egotistical Control Freak of the highest order, Lane had his first wife murdered when she attempted to divorce him, faking a kidnapping to throw suspicion off of himself. He ties up loose ends by abandoning two of his men to the mercy of a group of insurgents known to mutilate their prisoners, completely indifferent to the years of torture they are forced to endure. Upon remarrying, Lane keeps his new wife Kate in line my threatening to rape her five-year-old daughter with a potato peeler, a promise he attempts to make good on at the story's climax. Tying up Kate, his step-daughter, his wife's paramour Taylor, Taylor's brother Jackson, and Reacher's love interest Pauling to slowly torture each of them to death, Lane notices that Kate is pregnant with Taylor's baby, and immediately attempts to manually abort her, as it "wouldn't be right" for her to die with someone else's child inside of her. Lane ultimately attempts to lure Reacher out of hiding by holding Jackson at gunpoint, intending to shoot him in the legs and make Pauling lick up the man's blood "like a dog" if Reacher doesn't surrender.
Largo. Is anyone here a fan of Junji Ito? Please tell me "yes". My next candidate is basically a realistic version of Tomie, one of his few complete monsters, mixed with Johan Liebert, yes, that Johan.
What is the settting? 'The World of Kanako follows the story of Akihiro Fujishima, a detective who is searching for his missing popular daughter, the titular Kanako. In a twist of fate, the candidate is not her kidnapper, but Kanako herself.
Who is Kanako Fujishima? Kanako is a sweet, beautiful girl and the best student at her school, or is she? Behind the façade lies a high-functioning sociopath with ties to the Yakuza and a penchant for Mind Rape. Manipulating her parents and her own schoolmates, Kanako pretends to be an innocent girl just so she can get people addicted to drugs, and when she is ready, she sells them to prostitution rings and child molesters, she has done this to numerous people in the past. Meeting a friendless boy named Ogata, Kanako dates him and teams up with a school bully to make his depression worse, driving him to suicide. Said school bully is also another victim of Kanako's manipulation, and meets his end at the hands of the Yakuza, flayed alive.
Dating a second, depressed unnamed boy, Kanako gives him to suffer at the hands of rapists, laughing at his face; this boy ends up dying aswell. When another student, Nanago, discovers Kanako's true nature, she has her executed by police officers. The father of one of his victims, her own teacher, confronts Kanako and asks why she did that to her daughter, her only reaction is to smile at him and say that she didn't "force" the girl into prostitution, but only "invited" her, and declares that she knew his daughter better than he ever could. This is enough for the teacher, who stabs her with a screwdriver, Kanako dies with a happy expression on her face.
Mitigating Factors? Like Johan before her, there is a vague excuse for her behavior: Apparently, her father was abusive to her when she was younger, but there is the implication that it was her who instigated their fights. A gang-member described Kanako in the best way possible: Everyone's lives are ruined because of her. But why... Why does everyone become obsessed with her? She is the... Demon.
Conclusion?

I added a commented-out note that Machinedramon doesn't count.
