During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Having finally gotten around to watching Breaking Bad, I'm going to have to agree. The Cousins clearly care about one another, as exemplified both in the aforementioned drowning scene, and the part where the one shows concern for the other after Hank injures him, only abandoning him to get Hank after being told to do so. You can try to explain that away as their non-redeeming "family first" upbringing, but in my opinion, it's a disqualifier.

@acw : Also remember to make an image pickin thread for Super Sentai while your at it using my pics in the draft.
Also in Super Sentai for Dezumozorlya. In the first line please change the first part to his full title, so it matches with the others who have there full title. Hence it should read as : Wicked Lifeform Dezumozorlya

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."miraculous, I'll get to the image stuff eventually.
As for Sentai, there's also Ryuya and Brajira. I'll have to look through the whole page first. Hopefully Kamen Rider isn't that bad.
Discussed, approved, written up. Will go up with this week's batch. Here's the untweaked entry, if you're interested:
- Kuervo (also spelled as "Quervo") is the ex-best friend of Tsurugi Ohtori, who supposedly died blocking an attack from Don Armage for Tsurugi. Secretly, Kuervo only sacrificed himself so he would be known as a hero throughout the universe. After Armage was apparently defeated, a dying Kuervo allowed Armage's essence to possess him so he could become more powerful. Unlike Armage's other hosts, Kuervo maintained his complete identity, allowing Armage to use him as a host to take over and subjugate the universe with. Once they've conquered most of the universe, Kuervo and Armage began construction on a bomb made of Planetium with which Kuervo intended to use to destroy the entire universe so he could recreate it from scratch. After having Armage purged from him in his Final Battle with the Kyurangers, Kuervo is given a chance to redeem himself by Tsurugi, only for Kuervo to attempt one last attack on him, revealing that he never considered Tsurugi a true friend and was always resentful of Tsurugi for being more powerful than him.

Already approved. He'll go up next week.
Kamen rider shouldnt be too much of an issue as we already have all the names and aliases,in the entries so I think were good with that. Super sentai though youll need to go through the entire page as a few do seem to be missing the full title.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Cut the twins.
Speaking of Super Sentai, looking over its Monster page, does anyone else think Agent Abrella needs a re-write? It just looks amateurish. Here it is:
- Complete Monster: Agent Abrella sold many weapons supporting galaxy-destroying wars for fun and profit to most of the Alienizers, regardless of how many lives were taken. Once a galaxy is destroyed, he moves to the next to generate profit and destruction. Abrella treats any and all crime as a business opportunity, and it doesn't matter if you're destroying cities, selling slaves, pawning stolen merchandise, or filming child pornography, as long as the price is right, he'll be more than happy to sell you the tools you need to further your enterprise. And his Villainous Breakdown near the end of the series was caused merely because the Dekarangers were ruining his transactions. Yes, Abrella himself caused a citywide destruction spree and nearly destroyed the whole of the Space Police just so he could keep his job.

I have wanted to cut the Twins for years. I always thought they were clear non keeps and have questioned my own sanity when no one seemed to agree.
Cut. Away.
