During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Daddy Cosigna kind of dropped the ball there. Maybe if he wasn't so focused on protecting his reputation and actually being a good father little Sheev would've turned out well. Well OK he'd still be The Sociopath, but at least he wouldn't be Space Hitler
If you're still looking for images for the Whoniverse page, then given that the page quote is Sutekh, how about this
?
Alright, I've got a new proposal, from an 80's sci-fi flick called Battle Beyond the Stars. The movie is basically an The Magnificent Seven Samurai expy.
Who Is He?
Sador of the Malmori is the Big Bad of the film. He is the leader of a crew of mutants that roam the galaxy in a large battleship, conquering planets throughout the universe. He also has in his possession a weapon called the Stellar Converter, which has the ability to convert a planet into a star, which also wipes out all of its inhabitants. Sador uses this weapon to destroy rebelling planets. In addition, Sador is known for dismembering his men if they reject his orders or disappoint him, and then attaching their body parts to himself, in order to extend his lifespan.
What Does He Do?
The film opens with Sador arriving on the peaceful planet Akir, quickly announcing his intent to take the planet as his own, and giving its residents several days to submit to his rule; if they do not do so by the time he returns, he'll destroy the planet. To prove his point, Sador has his soldiers murder random citizens as a threat before leaving to deal with another planet.
A young man named Shad decides to venture throughout the universe in order to recruit mercenaries to protect Akir. Along the way, he meets a woman named Nanelia, and the two split off to find recruits. Long story short, both find mercenaries willing to fight; one mercenary in particular, Cayman, has a personal vendetta against Sador, as he had wiped out Cayman's entire species in the past. Along the way, Shad also happens to come across Sador using the Stellar Converter to wipe out a planet after they rejected his rule.
Sador eventually does return to Akir, where Shad and the mercenaries mount a defense against the invasion. In retaliation, Sador launches a frontal assault, sending foot soldiers to massacre the Akira. Though the mercenaries are successful at repelling the initial invasion, Shad's father is among those killed by Sador's men.
Sador captures one of the recruits, Nestor, which is essentially a group of Hive Mind humanoids. He has his Torture Technician saw off one of Nestor's arm as a torture attempt, but Nestor, due to having zero pain tolerance, dies from the procedure. As Sador attaches Nestor's arm to himself, the other Nestor take control of the arm and attempt to force Sador to kill himself, but this fails.
Sador finally decides to return for a counter-assault, this time with the intent of wiping out Akir using the Stellar Converter. The mercenaries launch a space assault on his battleship, and in the ensuing battle, all of the mercenaries are killed, but they manage to destroy the Stellar Converter. Shad and Nanelia, meanwhile, land their ship inside Sador's battleship and set it to self-destruct. The resulting explosion blows up the battleship, killing Sador and his crew, while Shad and Nanelia escape unharmed in an escape pod.
Mitigating factors?
No. Sador's just an arrogant, sadistic dictator. At one point, he compliments his surgeon for successfully attaching Nestor's arm to him, but that's it.
Heinousness?
Some of the mercenaries are...morally dubious. Cayman's a slave trader, another, Gelt, is an assassin, and Saint-Exmin is a Blood Knight. With that said, Sador is a mass murderer, genocidal tyrant, and planet destroyer (and we are shown him destroying a planet at one point), so he's definitely the most heinous character In-Universe.
Final Verdict?
I'd say keep him.
Why so serious?I'd like to make a few changes to another one of my older writeups. Not sure if I should just put it in the sandbox or post it here, so I'll post it here first to be safe.
- 'Salem's Lot
- The aforementioned Big Bad, Kurt Barlow, is an ancient, insidious vampire. His ultimate goal is to turn Jerusalem's Lot into a nest for vampires by playing on the townspeople's desires and insecurities and offering them a chance to achieve what they want, which always ends in him turning them. After losing control of his thirst and killing a wounded Straker, blaming Mark for the incident, he turns Susan, driving Ben to seek her out and kill her, murders Mark's parents in front of him, and, after a standoff of faith with Father Callahan—which the priest lost—he forces him to drink some of his blood, barring him from holy ground for the rest of his life. One of his final acts in a last-ditch effort to stop Ben from staking him is to hypnotize Mark to kill the former, all the while threatening to castrate the latter before turning him. And, even after his final demise, he still succeeded in his goal, sealing the fate of anyone who walks into the town of 'Salem's Lot.

Found and cut this on Wonderland:
- Complete Monster: Eddie Nash, if what is said about him is true. A violent psychotic mob boss responsible for untold murders and likely behind the gruesome killings. In Holmes' version, he even threatens to murder everyone he knows. Ron Launius can also come across as one but its downplayed from his real-life counterpart.
No, I didn't bold the trope name. That's how I found it. I didn't bother to PM the troper in question seeing as how it was put there over four years ago.
A new Dragon Ball fighting game is being made by the Guilty Gear guys. Might be worth reserving if you're a big Dragon Ball nut.
Who knows? We could get an original villain. Or maybe Frieza will Papa Palps someone again.
I would like to suggest a C.M.:
The work: The Nightmare Before Christmas Who: Skellington's Revenge is a meme-status You Tube Poop featuring characters from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Spongebob Squarepants, Ed, Edd, & Eddy, Team Fortress 2, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. It is comedic, but is one of the few You Tube Poops that tells a continuous story.
The villain: The true main antagonist is known as the Black Hiver. He is a sadistic holiday demon that takes an unassuming form to fool others into thinking he is weaker than he actually is. When allowed, he turns into a monstrous nightmare being, causing violence and mayhem while trying to kill everyone and devour their souls.
His actions: The video begins with Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas, upset that Halloween has been cancelled. He decides to steal the channel's Christmas Special, but Sally tells him she had a vision of a terrible calamity that will plague his Christmas. Jack ignores her.
As Jack struggles with how to take over Christmas, he finds a Satanic book and performs a ritual, taking him into the realm of the Black Hiver, who is in his most unassuming form. Jack asks him to help him take over Christmas, and the Hiver agrees.
Jack arrives at You Tube Poop Land, where the Hiver has trapped Santa Claus in a picture. The Hiver proceeds to suck all of the Land's inhabitants into a Satanic alternate dimension, where Jack chants a spell that transforms him into his true form: a giant organic-mechanical monster with claws, fire breath, and vast Satanic powers. He fights and terrorizes the You Tube Poop Land inhabitants, slaughtering them and stealing their souls to use as fuel for his powers. He then recreates his victims as twisted monsters to help him kill the others.
In the dimension, Black Hiver commands several demonic holiday characters to attack and kill. They do so, giving some to Hiver to consume. Hiver himself fights too, using his flame breath to kill Spy and some kids before consuming their corpses. Meanwhile, Jack gloats to Santa, and Santa tells him that the Hiver cannot be trusted, as he wants to help Jack take over Christmas so that he make take over Halloween, and spread chaos using its inherent darkness.
Hiver confronts the last three survivors: Spongebob, Heavy, and Ed. Spongebob sees the souls of his friends burning in Hiver's furnace body, and uses a Gear to gain powers. He confronts Hiver and manages to stun him. Heavy and Edd fight back against the monsters and minions, but only Spongebob makes it to where Jack is as Hiver kills Heavy and Ed with fire.
Spongebob goes to Jack and talks to him, appealing to his humanity and offering friendship. Jack feels remorse and decides to end the whole thing. However, Black Hiver appears, and commands Jack to finish the rituals. Hiver takes Spongebob and mocks him, telling him that both Halloween and Christmas would soon he his. Jack begs mercy, but Hiver rejects him and takes Spongebob's soul. Jack retaliates, yelling an incantation that frees the souls. Hiver lashes out and tries to kill Jack, but the souls fight back. Jack finishes the incantation to abort the ritual, and the Black Hiver explodes, killing him, returning the souls to their bodies, and sends everyone back to You Tube Poop Land. Jack reforms, and Christmas is saved.
Mitigating factors/Freudian excuses: Black Hiver in his 'unassuming' form is simply a creepy Bugs Bunny, and his true form bears resemblance to a rabbit. This may be considered humorous.
Heinous standard: The You Tube poop is extremely lighthearted, funny, and immature, with cartoon characters and kids taking the roles of the protagonists. Jack himself is a tragic and funny villain who reforms himself at the end, and there are the usual silly edits and randomness found in a typical You Tube Poop. However, upon being transported to the Hiver's dimension, the random edits and jokes end, and a more serious tone is almost immediately taken. The narrative flows more smoothly, and the tone shifts to a darker, more action-oriented one. The Hiver commits atrocities that seem out of place in the lighthearted Poop, such as the vicious murder of children and taking souls to burn as fuel. He takes on a more terrifying form, and he is not able to be stopped until Jack turns against him. The video is light, cheerful, and immature with the exception of the battle in the Hiver's dimension, which is dark and intense. Upon returning, the tone immediately shifts back to silly.
Read Slender Man vs Siren Head 2: The Foundation hereI apologize, I did not know. I'll leave you all alone now.
Read Slender Man vs Siren Head 2: The Foundation hereSeems like there was quite the debate in the last few pages. No matter, I vote
to Sardor, Tenebrarum, Lee brothers and Parks. Xanatos and Salazar are belated
(former for being a 99% candidate, the latter for genuinely loving his family).
Also, the revival for Prison Break wrapped up on May 30. I'm in the process of binging through the series on Netflix and Fox Now, but I was wondering if anyone has booked Poseidon/Jacob Ness yet. If not, I can wrap up the series and write an EP on him (I haven't done them in a long while
).

Quite glad I missed the shitstorm here.
Anyways, a late no to Salazar, a late "don't ever do that again" to Kylo, and on the terms of being a veteran of the thread, I've put up a lot of entries. So have Ravok and Lighty. That doesn't automatically mean that our opinions are more relevant than anyone else in the thread. As has been said? At the end of the day, we're all just people with shared interests that cause us to post here as a hobby. Nothing more.
