During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

In all fairness to Underground!Robotnik, Sonic gives Robotnik/Eggman insulting nicknames in pretty much all incarnations, and Sat AM version suffered a few comedic humiliation moments in the second season, notably in "The Void". I still don't see the Underground version as a CM, but a few moments of being made a Butt-Monkey don't detract from his monstrosity if his usual tone is serious and his actions are played seriously enough.
@Mediawatcher: Nefarious did try to destroy several planets in the movie after he usurped Drek. But still....I don't know. After playing Up Your Arsenal many years ago, I just can't see him qualifying. He's still the same awesome comedic villain we all love. He's got a Freudian Excuse, but it's not enough to justify what he does. Still, I don't know. He just didn't strike me as being that heinous.
I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.Do I just paste my writeup
in there as well, or how does it work? (I know it's on the long side but I wasn't sure what else to trim.)
Hey guys its me again I've been looking at the episode that contained Floriana Campos and not only do I think she qualifies but also I found an additional candidate for the trope. Yep
, I found TWO CM candidates for the price of ONE. I get to Floriana Campos later but for my first effort post here is the one I just discovered. His name is No.145 The Freelancer (his name isn't really given) and he appears in the second episode of the first season of the The Blacklist.
Who is he? What has he done?
The Freelancer is one of the most skilled assassin in the world who specialized in murdering people in undetectable ways, making them appear like natural accidents to the unsuspecting public. Now I know what you guys are going to say, "this is basic villainy" but it how he causes these accidents that got my attention. Basically he is hired to take out one target and I only mean one target, so this target goes to somewhere like a train station and aboard a train and the Freelancer kills his target by, yep you guessed it, DESTROYING the train and not only killing his target, but also KILLING the OTHER PEOPLE, we're talking about DOZENS if not HUNDREDS, inside the train and make it look like an accent, that actually happened at the beginning of the episode. That is basically his modus operandi which can range from train and even plain accident and has claim a body count of about 3000 lives through these methods all just to get a few targets, with picture posted on the FBI board as evidence of his work.
Freudian Excuse
None to elaborate and none to justify his action.
Redeeming Qualities
None. While Red hires him to kill Floriana (I'll mention her on my 2nd effort post) it is out of standards that the Freelancer does it, but rather because Red gave him a lot of money to kill her (Yep Red hates her that much) and if Floriana had hired him to kill Red, he would have done so without any hesitation. Red himself doesn't give two shits about what happens to him at the end and give his A Father to His Men tendencies, that is saying something
Heinoussness
has a body count in the thousand all while only hired to kill a handful, I'll say around the dozen, while showing no remorse for doing so, with pictures of his work as evidence of his work, so I believe he counts.
Final Verdict
I'd give him a
Now here is Floriana Campos effort post
Who is she? What has she done
She appears in the same episode as with the Freelancer and while she appears as a human rights activist by day, it is all a facade to hide her true work as a slave trader in the night. She is not just a slave trader, but also The leader of the Everhardt Cartel, which is one of the largest slave trafficking cartels in the world. Basically she has her people kiddnapp hundreds if not thousands of men, women, and children all over the world and then carves their insignia on their back to make sure that they are their property and then sells them to the highest bitter ranging from sex slaves to hardcore manual labor. Also, she has her own husband killed because he was trying to crack down on the Everhardt Cartel, not knowing he'd married her.
Freudian Excuse
Her reson for doing all of this is just so she can make lots of money from the business and live in luxury. Yeah that is about IT!
Redeeming qualities
None! Her human rights activist work, they are just way to getting rid of her competition and claim their slaves for herself.
Heinousness
She ruins the live of thousands by sending them into slavery just so they can support her luxurious lifestyle, kill her own husband so he wouldn't shut down her business and ruin her lifestyle, and her actions are so vile that even RED himself hates her. In fact, so much that he hires the Freelancer I mention above to kill her. so like the Freelancer, I believe she counts.
Final Verdict
I'd give her a
Well what do you guys think? Do you think that one of them, none of them, or perhaps even ALL OF THEM COUNT ?

My sandbox of EPs and other stuff
for both Red and Campos
I have a question for you guys. Who do you think is the most evil John Woo villain?
Mine would be Johnny Wong.
It's Spooky Month! Before this week's batch, here's the Star Trek VG stuff (I'll look for an image for the page):
- Star Trek: 25th Anniversary:
- Though most Klingons have a code of honor that makes them sympathetic, Admiral Vlict Kenka takes his to a terrifying extreme. Vlict was the governor of the Klingon colony Hrakkour . A powerful being known as Quetzalcoatl comes to Hrakkour and starts spreading a pacifistic philosophy among the population. Feeling that the Klingons on Hrakkour have been corrupted by outside ideas, Vlict orders everyone on Hrakkour to be killed, including his own family. Realizing he has gone far beyond his orders to deal with the situation and wanting to avoid punishment from the Klingon High Council for his genocidal crimes, Vlict blames Quetzalcoatl for the destruction of Hrakkou and puts him on trial. Kirk demands Quetzalcoatl be treated fairly by the trial and personally offers to go through some tests to prove his own worthiness as a warrior, in an effort to defend Quetzalcoatl. However Kirk soon discovers that these tests are designed to kill Kirk and his crewmen, so that Vlict will no longer have to deal with Kirk's inference.
- Dr. Ies Breddell was once part of the science council of Vardaine, a Federation colony. A young Kirk foils Breddell's plan to take over Vardaine and he has held a grudge against him ever since. A decade later Breddell has joined an xenophobic anti-Federation movement on Vardaine and begins an operation to secretly construct starships modeled after the Federation star ships. Breddell creates his own version of the Enterprise and uses it launch sneak attacks on Federation ships. The fake Enterprise attacks the USS Republic and kills everyone on board. After the real Enterprise defeats the fake Enterprise, Breddell is seemingly killed.
- Judgment Rites: In this sequel to the previous game, Dr. Ies Breddell survived, having been transported by a cloaked ship at the last moment. Even more obsessed with revenge after another defeat at Kirk's hands, Breddell secretly takes over a Federation space station studying a powerful anomaly. Breddell creates a powerful weapon that uses the power of the anomaly and plans to use it to destroy Earth. Breddell succeeds, but the explosion causes a Federation ship to travel back in time and warn Kirk about this weapon right before the ship explodes. After traveling to the space station and confronting Breddell, Breddell uses Fantastic Racism to justify his actions. When Kirk tries to use moral arguments against Breddell, Breddell states morality is concept invented by the weak to prevent the strong dominating them and thus sees morality as a worthless concept.
- Star Trek Online: Colonel Hakeev of the Romulan Tal Shiar abducted entire colonies of innocent Romulans for horrific experiments into Borg technology; attempted to massacre most of the "inferior" Remans and drive the rest back into slavery; arranged sadistic gladiatorial events to determine the combat potential of various species sentient or otherwise; and was the person truly responsible for triggering the Hobus supernova, with all its apocalyptic consequences. In addition, he's the only Iconian agent in the story who is Not Brainwashed and not tricked either. He just enjoyed the thought of enslaving and exterminating the "lesser races" at the behest of his "Dark Masters".
So we're sure that The Untold Story isn't just exploitative garbage with the thin veneer of an Excuse Plot?
EDIT: Then again, looks like the actor who played Wong won the equivalent of the Hong Kong Oscar, so...

- Segai Waltz Makoto works for the GHQ Anti-Bodies as The Dragon to the aforementioned Shuichiro Keido. He is first introduced torturing a defenseless woman, and in that same scene also "talks" to a man he just hanged. With the help of a student, he captures and arrests Shu Ouma, then tries to manipulate Shu to turn against Funeral Parlor, with Shu retorting that people were killed right in front of his eyes by his men. Segai's reply was that they were unregistered citizens, completely uncaring whether or not it was a good reason to kill them. Segai also shows an absolute disregard for his own men; for example, when Shu uses his power to escape and a sniper under his command tries to stop him, Segai shoots him just so he doesn't interrupt him seeing Shu's power; and later, when he leads an assault on one of the last Funeral Parlor strongholds to spread the Apocalypse Virus further, kills his partner Dan Eagleman for saving Haruka. His life even ends with violence when trying to kill Ayase by hitting her with a truck, only to be stopped when Shu kills him with Shears of Life and Segai seems to enjoy it. A man who enjoys violence and carnage, whether he or someone else is the cause of it,, underneath his polite mask lies a sadistic sociopath whose cruelty and depravity is matched only by his boss.
- Tokyo Mew Mew: The anime version of Deep Blue forsakes the well-intentioned extremism of his manga counterpart and becomes a cold, self-concerned sociopath. The leader of the aliens who come to reclaim Earth, Deep Blue creates a human alias named Masaya to stay hidden and oversees his flunkies' attacks. In the climax of the series, Deep Blue overtakes Masaya, and the very first thing he does upon awakening is stoically torture his former identity's Love Interest, Ichigo, with electrical energy, unleashing a burst of energy that obliterates the nearby city. Deep Blue kills anybody who gets in his way, not excepting his own loyal servants, and is interested solely in wiping out all humanity so that he can have Earth to himself. Deep Blue's callous nature ends up turning even his own servants against him, and he shows himself to be thoroughly exempt of any humanizing traits that flesh out the other villains of the show.
- Jinmen, the depraved turtle-like demon, eats humans alive to devour their souls, leaving an imprint of them on his shell trapped in agony. Jinmen targets vulnerable humans on purpose, with children being a favorite meal, including a 10 year old named Sachiko who had befriended Akira. Those he devours are left alive and conscious, but trapped until Akira kills him. In Devilman: Grimoire, Jinmen adds the rape of Illuge to his list of crimes.
- Amon is a powerful demon who was known as the God Of War in Hell. Amon was trapped inside the body of Akira Fudo after trying to possess him, existing as Akira's Superpowered Evil Side. Amon finally emerges in the OVA Amon: The Apocalypse of Devilman, after Akira crosses the Despair Event Horizon. Amon murders both humans and demons alike, even devouring a young girl alive, an act that horrifies even the other demons, and would have killed Mikiko as well if he wasn't distracted by the other demons. He later mentally tortures Akira by showing him images of his beloved Miki being killed, and proceeds to physically torture Akira by tearing off his wing and stomping on his wound.
- Adventure Time fanfic Adventure Time: Frozen Hearts: Sifine is a cruel Frostkin who ruled the earth as an Ice Queen long ago with her husband. When the Earth began warming up, Sifine decides that she doesn't want to die, so she poisons her own husband and sacrifices the lives of all the other Frostkins to power her crown so that she could gain Immortality, but the spell backfired and she ended up being sealed into the crown. Over the centuries, many warriors wielded the crown but ended up getting cursed by it, the most notable victim being Simon Petrikov, whose influence from the crown ultimately drove away his fiancee Betty and his adopted daughter Marceline and turned Simon into the insane Ice King 1,000 years later. Deciding to pick on an easier target, Sifine successfully manipulates Damon into becoming her servant and controls him into killing Christine along with several other scientists and soldiers and tries to attack Cube village, crippling him in the process. Once Damon is stopped, Sifine tries to influence Simon into wearing the crown, but Betty offers herself to wear it to keep Simon safe but managed to quickly knock it off. Having attained enough resources, Sifine eventually decides to turn Earth into a permanent Ice Age, freezing everyone to death so she could restore her body all to remake the world in her image.
- Dark Harvest: Elijah Baker is Sean's great-grandfather, and a factory worker turned farmer during The Great Depression. One day, to get good crops, he made a Deal with the Devil for a Human Sacrifice. He honored this deal by killing drifters who came looking for work. When his pregnant wife found out about his crimes, he made her his next sacrifice. This was his undoing, as two police officers came to investigate her disappearance and found her body. Elijah managed to kill one of the cops before the other guns him down.
- Naked Weapon: Madam M, real name Madeline Ho, is the leader of a mysterious organization of female assassins. After killing her own top assassin, she seeks a replacement by kidnapping young girls from all over the world and bringing them to her island, where they are shot should they try to escape. After 6 years of grueling training and kill-or-be-killed exercises, the girls are forced by Madam M into a deathmatch that leaves only three of the original 40 alive. Afterwards, she drugs the surviving girls and has them brutally raped in order to "prepare" them for having to use their bodies to commit assassinations. She has them commit many murders all over the world, and when one of them tries to reconnect with her long-lost mother, Madam M tries to have said mother killed.
- The Untold Story: In this film, Very Loosely Based on a True Story, Wong Chi-hang was the owner of the Eight Immortals restaurant. Originally a waiter, Wong gruesomely murders the original owner Cheng Lam and his family, including the children, when Cheng refused to grant Wong $183,000 due to Wong cheating at mahjong. When Ah Man, a waiter of the restaurant, catches him in the act, Wong savagely kills him, makes barbecue pork buns with his flesh, and serves them to the unsuspecting customers. Fearing that Pearl, a cashier, was going to tell the police, he rapes and murders her in a gruesome fashion, and he attempts to flee from the authorities after hiding crucial evidence. While he was getting his self-inflicted wounds tended to, he takes a nurse as hostage, and threatens to murder her if he wasn't allowed to escape. His only regret was not being meticulous with disposing the evidence.
- Witchboard: Carlos Malfeitor in life was an infamous Serial Killer known for having killed nine people with an ax. In death his spirit comunicates with the world via an Ouija Board which accidentaly falls into the hands of Jim Morar. Seeking a vessel so he can walk on Earth once again and restart his murderous campaign Malfeitor torments Jim's girlfriend, invading her dreams and at one point assaulting and hospitalizing her. He also viciously kills Jim's friends, leaving him as the prime suspect, and also kills a medium who tried to exorcise him. When he finally menages to possess Linda, Malfeitor reveals that Jim has always been his portal and killing his friends and torturing Linda was simply a way to mess with him. When Jim tries to shoot himself after having learned this, Malfeitor cruelly mocks his intended sacrifice, by asking him if Linda is really worth it.
- You're Next: Crispian Davison may not have killed anyone directly, but the plan to kill off the rest of the family and divide the money among the conspirators was his in the first place, putting all that happens afterwards on his head. At his instigation, eight people, including six members of his family, and two of their neighbors, were gruesomely killed with crossbows, machetes, mauls, axes, and household tools, a fact of which he is downright proud; when one of the victims resists, and all five of his co-conspirators wind up dead, he takes it in a stride since all of the money will now be coming to him. When the final surviving victim confronts him, he demonstrates himself to be so void of basic human feeling that he honestly believes he can win her over with a promise of money, and a lie about loving her.
- Asshole Yakuza Boyfriend: Kawada is regarded as monstrous even amongst his fellow Yakuza, and almost all of the other villains in the book eventually turn on him, usually out of disgust. In addition to being an admitted and proud sadist and murderer, he's also the mastermind behind both a dog-fighting operation and a human trafficking operation. He has a penchant for disgusting and elaborate punishments, and is adept at psychologically manipulating his victims with threats of rape or the needlessly cruel murder of their loved ones; for example, he threatens to road-haul Rose's ex-boyfriend and leave the remains in her bed while she sleeps. He also considers women to be "meat," and treats them as such, up to and including preparing to eat Mina.
- Black Widow: Forever Red: Ivan Somodorov, Natasha's Evil Mentor, was a former instructor at the Red Room, and was known and feared throughout the institution for his intense cruelty toward his students, all barely teenage children; Ivan subjected his students to horrific emotional and physical abuse, and would then psychologically tear them down completely before reforming them into emotionless weapons with the sole purpose of assassination. After strong-arming numerous scientists into his service by threatening their lives and those of their families, Ivan forced them to build him the O.P.U.S., a machine that used electroshock torture to impant into its victims a latent assassination programming; Ivan used this technology almost solely on children, before murdering all those who assisted him in the project. After implanting his dozens of new, unknowing, soldiers into various governments, Ivan planned to used worldwide to kill hundreds of high-ranking government officials, scientists, and anyone who could get in his way, at which point he would use his new army of assassins to institute his own government and Take Over the World. When Black Widow attempts to thwart his plan, Ivan sics his Child Soldiers on her, knowing she will be forced to go easy on them. Black Widow has dealt with tyrants, assassins, and superpowered monsters throughout her career, but Ivan Somdorov was the worst of them all.
- The Blacklist: The titular Blacklist contains the most dangerous criminals to ever appear on the face of the earth, but there are still a fair few that manages to stand out above the rest.
- Floriana Campo, who appears in season 1's "The Freelancer", acts as a human rights activist by day, fighting against the Everhardt Cartel, but by night actually runs said cartel, which is one of the largest slave trading cartels in the world. As the leader of the cartel, she has hundreds if not thousands of men, women, and children kidnapped, has her insignia branded on their back, and sells them to her wealthy clients either as sex slaves or as manual labor. Through these methods, she has ruined the lives of many, all while just so she could make her own life luxurious. When her husband gets too close to discovering the truth, she murders him in cold blood. She has proven to be so vile, even Reddington despises her.
- Owen Mallory, formerly Michael Shaw, is Number 64 on the Blacklist and appears in the season 1 episode, "The Cyprus Agency (No. 64)", where he runs a supposed adoption agency called the Cyprus Agency. Initially believing that the Agency kidnaps children just to sell them towards the wealthy, when FBI task force led by Elizabeth Keen delves into the agency's darkest secrets they find out the truth is far worse. Instead of kidnapping children, the agency kidnaps women all over the world regardless of age and puts them into comas, where Owen himself would rape them so they can produce children, even injecting sedatives to prolong the comas and the process. He has done this to many women, and if some of the women die he simply has his employees dispose of them. He also isn't very good to his employees either, as such when he has his employee kidnap a college girl and said employee makes a mistake, he callously shoots him. When Elizabeth finally catches him she sees how many women he kept in comas and raped, which is in the dozens, and those are just the women still alive. When she asks him why he did all this, he says that as a child in the adoption system he felt that he wasn't perfect, and by kidnapping all these women to rape, they could make his children, thus " ensuring his legacy" and making it so he won't feel that way anymore.
- Black Panther: Reverend Achebe, while he allegedly has the Freudian Excuse of having his wife cheat on him and the rebel leader she ran off with having burned his farm to the ground, goes far beyond any reasonable actions. He started off by allegedly murdering everyone who'd ever met his wife—up to and including a merchant who once sold her shoes. Next, he went around starting race wars for fun. That was before he made a deal with Mephisto to try and destroy Panther just because, murdered a child as a diversionary tactic, and started a race riot in Washington, D.C. while trying to manipulate Panther into accidentally killing his own ex-girlfriend. Since then, he's mostly limited himself to starving animals to death, Cold-Blooded Torture, and just generally doing whatever will cause the most harm, taking sheer glee in his actions.
- The Blooming Moon Chronicles/99 Worlds Saga
: Sol Seraph is Fluttershy’s mother and the first Arc Villain of Starlit Knights. Raised in a Knight Templar-esque mercenary order to become a huntress, and married to another member, she proved too vicious even for them; she also killed her husband because she believed her own emotions towards him to be a weakness, and had his horn implanted into her for his magic. Attempting to mold Fluttershy into a "superior" pony like herself, Sol subjected her to emotional and physical abuse, presenting it as a private ritual of atonement which Fluttershy would continue on her own for years after. In the present, she allies with a Nightmare Moon cult attempting to start Ragnarok and takes over Ponyville, ostensibly to deal with monster attacks but really to entrap Princess Luna, whom she sees as the ultimate prey. She finally manages to capture Luna by withdrawing her troops and triggering a monster attack, then kidnapping Luna’s husband and adopted daughter along with Fluttershy. Sol coldly strikes down Fluttershy in front of Luna and her friends, calling her a stain on the family name, before attempting to engage Luna in a Duel to the Death and stating that if Luna is victorious she will be handed over to the cult and "allowed" to destroy the world as the superior predator. Only stopped by Fluttershy stabbing her in the back instead and some enslaved troops refusing to posthumously obey her orders, her undead spirit remains unrepentant. In a world threatened by apocalypse and dominated by monsters and demons, Sol Seraph manages to stand out as a mortal whose desire to dominate scars all who encounter her.
- WoW: Warlords of Draenor: Gul'dan from the alternate universe Draenor is the Big Bad of this expansion and matches his main timeline counterpart for wickedness. While he initially fails to get his fellow orcs to drink the demon blood, Gul'dan quickly makes up for failure by serving as the Burning Legion's vanguard. He sends Cho'gall to Oshu'gun to subjugate the Naaru there, sends Teron'gor to Auchindoun to empower the Shadow Council by devouring the souls of dead Draenei, and tries himself to cause a volcano to erupt in Shadowmoon Valley. As the Iron Horde falls apart, he takes advantage by finally corrupting his people like his prime counterpart. Victorious at last, Guldan tries to deliver the deathblow to Draenor by destroying its elements with the Cipher of Damnation and siphons the world's ley lines (like power lines, only magical energy instead of electricity) to power a new portal to allow the Legion to arrive in all its might. Regardless of the circumstances provided by a new timeline, Gul'dan proves that he will always be a heartless monster willing to sacrifice everything to gain power.

Freelancer and Campus.
Also I have a question; because yesterday a Wolf Creek miniseries has been released on Stan. Now I am NOT spoiling anything and I know about a two-week rule but I got a question; Assuming Mick still counts will he be moved to Live-Action TV? Or stay in Film? Also, if anyone has seen the series, I have lots of questions about it that I will ask through P Ms.

Welcome to the world of greatest media!
Considering there are also books, I think he (along with Jerry and Atkin from the prequel novels) should be moved to Other Media under Teridax.

Sounds unlikely for reasons of Offscreen Villainy, since it's apparently a backstory character.
