During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

They also did this Wall of Text (I guess someone REALLY wanted Andy Griffith as a CM):
- Murder In Coweta County: A 1983 made-for-TV movie that told the true story of John Wallace, a wealthy Meriwether County, Georgia land baron and moonshine runner who in the 1940s virtually ruled the county with an iron fist and had the sheriff in his back pocket. He was particularly noted for his excessively sadistic and cruel methods of doling out physical punishment toward people who wronged him; for instance, at the beginning of the film, the sheriff catches a black farmhand stealing from Wallace; Wallace directs the farmhand to place his hands and feet in the jambs of the door, then slams the door shut on him repeatedly. (The "altruistic" side of Wallace, which he presented to the community in general, was a mere cover for his true, sinister side. For instance, he regularly attended church, was a member of the choir and church council and paid for new pews out of his pocket.) The key incident in the film, which happens in April 1948, comes in the first hour of the movie: A sharecropper named Wilson Turner, who ran shine for Wallace, made a little too much money and made his runs a little too often; Wallace finds out and — after beating him severely, orders him off his land. In retaliation (and perhaps knowing that Wallace would bury him in small-claims court, since Wallace had several judges in his back pocket), Turner steals a prized cow from Wallace's pasture. Sure enough, Wallace finds out and has Turner arrested, but then later decides to drop the charge "on a lack of evidence." Turner is let out of jail, but his freedom is short-lived, as Wallace and three of his thugs are waiting for him at the gas station. Turner hightails it, with Wallace and his buddies in pursuit, and the chase extends into Coweta County, where Turner's truck runs out of gas at the Sunset Tourist Camp; Turner tries to flee but is immediately caught and savagely beaten, creating a disturbance that draws several witnesses. As the men are trying to place Turner in one of the cars, witnesses reportedly saw Wallace pistol-whip Turner atop the head with such force that the gun discharged, likely killing him instantly. It was not merely good enough to Wallace to merely dispose of Turner's body in a deep well on his property, especially upon learning that hard-nosed Coweta County Sheriff Lamar Potts was investigating the case and — knowing the fatal blow was administered in the adjacent county — he had jurisdiction for the entire series of crimes involving Turner's death. So, Wallace directs two African American farmhands to help extract the body from the well, build a pyre, douse the body and wood with kerosene, moonshine and gasoline ... AND SET EVERYTHING ON FIRE!!!! Wallace cackles evily as he dares Potts to arrest him now, believing that the lack of a body will cast doubt on where Turner was killed. Wallace does not count on bone fragments and brain tissue (the few bits of Turner's body that remained after it was otherwise completely cremated) remaining in both the river and well, and that — plus the testimony of the two farmhands, Wallace's goons refusing to testify (they were to claim that Turner was still alive when brought back to Meriwether County), Potts persistence in gathering other evidence ... and Wallace's own eccentric statement during the trial — led to an eventual guilty verdict. Even in the last half hour before his death, Wallace remains defiant, declaring himself to an unimpressed Potts the leader of "The Kingdom" and that he was taught to do everything without conscience or fear of the consequences. His last statement, made in the electric chair, is: "Almighty God, only You know my true heart. Prepare to receive me into Your House." Griffith's portrayal as the ruthless, sadistic, cold-hearted Wallace was critically acclaimed and showed just how callous, mean and evil this outwardly Christian man truly was.
EDIT: Holy hell potholes were out of control:
- The Secret Circle has Eben, leader of the witch hunters. He's bad enough when we first see him in a flashback that reveals he and his men murdered the members of the old Circle by pretending to want peace and tried to kill John Blackwell, but he gets even worse worse when he turns out to have survived the fire, only with nasty scarring, and proves hell-bent on killing every witch alive, even those who have never heard of him, for absolutely no good reason. He doesn't bat an eye at using magic provided by a resurrected and psychotic Nick to brainwash Cassie into trying to murder her father and to survive an attack by the Circle that should've killed him outright. Later, he summons and absorbs multiple demons for their power, no doubt driving him even Ax Crazier — and that's after sacrificing one of his own men to a demon and using him to lure Blackwell and the Circle into a death trap that just barely fails. Oh, and according to another witch hunter, he's even killed off Isaac, who was downright sane compared to him — and then he kidnaps Faye, fully intending to murder her and her covenmates. Fortunately, Jake gives him a swift, satisfying Karmic Death in "Family" after Charles has taken the demons out of him.

Didn't we discuss Eben already (it's not even his organisation are all the same as the guy he replaced was less unhinged) . He's a pretty easy keep. Me, beast, lighty can vouch for him
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Oh yeah, that is a good point. Yeah like he really just seems like a slightly above-average jerk rather than a CM. I am going to personally advocate that we cut him as well considering we don't have anyone trustworthy vouching for him none of his crimes seem bad enough and he was added without an EP.
I actually think I might have a candidate from Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. There's actually a character that manages to get past the card game format to come across as legitimately awful. Gonna give that a shot in a couple of days.

Think you're tough because you made it through Lord of the Rings? Real men survive The Silmarillion.Lore has proven to be trustworthy, if the case is there the case is there. I don't think the comments about how hard it would be to convince anyone something could have a candidate are needed.
Trying to get back in as I am feeling slightly better (And thanks for the kind words guys! I appreciate it)
to the Brides and the Architect. Cut the Made for tv guys.
I think this is just you and not 'the thread'.

Bow to the PrototypeWat? There's a ton of singleplayer story content in Hearthstone, albeit in the form of "What If" scenarios based on Warcraft lore. The Book of Mercenaries campaign alone can take like 10 hours to complete in full, and it's a fully voiced, extensive story. The game is very handily conducive to keepers (even if I admittedly don't know who Lore wants to propose).

Funnily enough, my candidate will be one of the ten mercenaries. Namely Tamsin Roame the Warlock mercenary because of course the warlock is the evil one. The game also does its damnedest to make full use of its gameplay mechanics to portray terrible atrocities. Take for example the fight below of Tamsin sadistically mind raping her father into a mindless puppet rather than mercifully killing him.
Given that she later subverts her one redeeming quality and opens a portal to allow a demonic invasion of Stormwind, I think she has a fair shot.
Think you're tough because you made it through Lord of the Rings? Real men survive The Silmarillion.Yes to the Brides and Dutheil.
Any opinions on my Tarkin rewrite
, or is it fine as is?
I don't really know the franchise, so if MGD says it's cool now I'll switch to a yes there.

Late
to Brides. Tarkin rewrite looks good.
Anymore opinions for Eric?

"I'll show you the Dark Side." CM actors and killsI have another GLITCH proposal. Its from their newest series Murder Drones.
What is the show?
Murder Drones is GLITCH Production's newest series. It's about how humans accidentally killed themselves on Earth, leaving Worker Drones to inhabit the planet. The company didn't like this so decided to send a bunch of bots named "Disassembly Drones" to wipe out the Workers on the planet.
Their current episode is the pilot
.
Who is she? What has she done?
Serial Designation J is the leader of the Disassembly Drones and the first sighting we get of Disassembly Drones' work is a mountain of Worker Drone corpses. J is shown on screen to be a physically abusive boss, causally tossing around N while casually stating she would kill him for his incompetence if her bosses let her. When N eventually reaches inside the bunker that the Worker Drones have been hiding in to protect themselves, J and V follow him with the intent of slaughtering the Drones. When she commends N for getting them into the bunker and gives him a pen for his troubles, N questions J why the company would put them in a one way missle to Earth if they actually saw them as valuable. J's response is to stab N in the chest and infect him with the virus before going deeper into the bunker to slaughter the Drones. We later see multiple drones cornered while V slaughters a brave one right in front of them before the Disassembly Drones are challenged by Uzi and a changed N. J brands N a traitor and threatens to erase his existence before being challenged by Uzi. Uzi goes after J and jams the pen into He's visor. J goes nuts and fires an EMP that knocks out Uzi and kicks away her gun, mocking her that Uzi is at her mercy and that she's had prey fight back before being tripped up by the acid of the ground. Uzi uses her weapon to end J once and for all by blowing half her body off.
Mitigating Factors?
J has a few Not So Above It All moments including talking about the company's plan and when she mocks Uzi for being at her mercy, her visor switches to Best Monolouge Ever.mp3. Despite this, it doesn't detract from how twisted she is.
Heinousness?
J is essentially the main responsibity for the huge mountain of robot corpses, she physically and emotionally abuses N constantly and when she's questioned, she stabs N with a virus to kill him and attempts to kill the rest of the Drones. She's pretty nasty for a pilot villain.
Verdict?
To think SMG 4 has gone from making goofy Mario adventures bloopers to stuff like this.
for her, but there’s a chance she might get outheinoused later down the line.

I looked through the history on Live-Action TV and it seems it was added without consulting the thread by a troper named Briguy 52748, who is still active it seems. But has never once posted on the thread.
