During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

"Their entries come off much more like Hate Sink writeups, as a lot of what they focus on is minor and doesn't come off as that heinous given the show's standards."
Honestly, I agree. Diethard is a scumbag, and yes, he is a glory-seeking journalist in a world of genocidal empires...and that's exactly why he doesn't count to me. Its like that Sociopathic Soldier of the W 40 K books, sure that the guy is a complete asshole...but this is a world where genocide is the norm. Even when he finally becomes the propagandist of Schneizel, Diethard doesn't call for genocide, he merely justifies Schneizel's use of WM Ds, which is a far more passive role. And this without counting Lelouch, who is also fairly fine with the usage of FLEIJ As for his own plan.
Like, Code Geass feature Japan turned into a brutal apartheid regime where the common ethnic Japanese is opressed by the Brittanian settlers and massacres are a semi-regular happenstance, which is why stuff as Zero's ruthlessness is accepted, the situation is already a nightmare. And this isn't limited to Japan, in fact, its actually the least bad situation as we're giving direct mentions that if not for Suzaku murdering his father, the Brittanian-Japan war would have ended on a outright genocide.

Watch me destroying my countryI’m haven’t seen Code Gease myself but I still trust 43110 and Ravok argument for Diethard and vote on keeping him.
Seriously though I need to make time to watch Code Gease

My sandbox of EPs and other stuff
to Mother.
I would also like to request an edit to a confirmed monster in the page for video games from Q to Z. There was a mistake in the entry for the Darkness. The entry says:
Voodood and Spyro are correct, but not Jet-Vac, and it's irritating as someone who loves the Skylanders series. The Darkness is never mentioned in Jet-Vac's
backstory, seen below.
What the entry should be referring to is Boom Jet's
backstory:
I made the edit to the sandbox page, but could it be added to the actual page? The only change will be that single sentence so it says:

Actually rewatched quite a lot of Code Geass fairly recently, asbolutely think Diethard could stay an example due to what opportunistic and carnage-loving scum he is, and maybe the writeup could be amended to make clearer the severity of the things he was complicit in, but I and I assume other users probably get the idea of the writeup that's currently in place. Lohmeyer is an easy keeper given the massive scope of what she tried to bring about.

Both are already done.
Here's the YMMV page, and here's the Sandbox page.

Really my only issue with the geass candidates is that genocide is common in this series and many characters including Suzaku and Lelouch have killed millions, didn’t they nuke a populated area?
I’ll vote to keep Diethard and Alicia, but that’s just something that I’m conflicted with.

I am popping in to say I have finished Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and that, as a lifelong FF Fan, it made me very happy. Oh and if you're wondering how I played it I got to access it early because I pre-ordered it.
I am also still on my break from the threads because I have yet to finish either Elden Ring or Horizon Forbidden West. God Elden Ring is longer than I expected.

Updates on two things I have reserved:
Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger ended just over two weeks ago and doesn't have any keepers. No Monsters of the Week stand out (and most of them are Played for Laughs anyway), and of the villains who don't make a Heel–Face Turn, Boccowaus, the Big Bad for most of the show, is pretty much a parody of the short tempered Bad Bosses in the series, while Barashitara and Ijirude, while bad, don't really have that extra oomph needed to be a CM - ultimately, the show doesn't focus enough on the impact of their more unique actions and holds back too much to the point they're not much more than a generic general and evil scientist, respectively.
On a related note, the next season, Avataro Sentai Donbrothers, is being billed as the first season since Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan to be a sequel to the previous season, so I'll be nabbing that as well.
Lastly: I have just finished every route in Triangle Strategy and am now open to discussion via DM ahead of the actual discussion on Friday.
Simyon, Y'Garon and Mother
Keep Diethard and Lohmeyer
Any more votes on Dionysus
before I write him up?
•Work: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean
•Candidate: Sports Maxx is a relentless gangster who believes that life is nothing but drugs, prostitutes, and murder. During his time as a mafioso, he took pride and joy in making helpless victims suffer, most notably a man whom he forces to bite into a stick on the side of a curb, before brutally kicking his head in until impalement occurs. He's also not one to let witnesses get off scot-free, as when Gloria Costello, Ermes' sister, catches his curb-stomping execution, she attempts to call the police on him, and he murders her, too. Maxx went on to amass many more killings until he was arrested, but craftily made it so he was charged for tax evasion under the guise of a used car salesman. He tries to keep up friendly appearances in prison, but this is all an act for the sake of earning parole and going back to his killing sprees, as he still managed to smuggle in drugs and prostitutes into Green Dolphin Street Prison. Even when Ermes kills him and Limp Bizkit turns him into a zombie, he still retains his memories and sentience, and being driven by a crave for blood, Maxx attempts to maul Ermes alive for her blood before he's finally killed for good.
•Mitigating Factors: None. Sports Maxx is a complete Hate Sink, and he's presented in a very eerie light. Any goodwill he shows is just to get out of prison quicker.
•Heinousness Standard: In the context of Part 6, he's shown to be more ruthless than the other Monster on the page, Kenzō, who relied on emotional manipulation in order to slowly lead his followers to their untimely deaths. Maxx does all his killings by his own hand, they're shown in incredibly graphic detail, and he's established to have killed dozens of people before he was arrested for a lesser crime. In relation to other parts, his amount of kills are on a relatively equal scale to other listed Monsters, comparable with Angelo or Diavolo, and he even surpasses people like DIO and Tōru in how many people he's killed, often without any good reason to.
•Verdict: I believe Sports Maxx can be considered a keeper.

Orcus on His Throne will always be my pet peeve.Eh... I dunno. There's an argument there, but I wouldn't say he surpasses DIO in bodycount given how huge the latter's attempted bodycount was in Part 1.
Kenzo was fucked enough child molesters didn't want anything to do with him. He could also give quite horrible deaths of his own right : ending up drowning in your own fluids isn't exactly the nicest way to go. Diavolo did attempt to wipe out everyone in his own village as well.
I'll abstain. I can see a case being made here but I'll admit I'm fairly pessimistic. Who knows? Maybe the anime will make him a more solid keeper...
J’m’arrête pas tant qu’j’vois pas des lignes sur les moniteurs (Not stoppin 'til I see Flatlines)Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Sports Maxx only kill two people? Ermes' sister Gloria, and a random man that Gloria witnessed the killing of? I don't think he's anywhere close to heinous enough. The invisible zombies he created with his stand were already dead beforehand.

Man I would upvote that Thrax video in an instant but it has a You Tuber watermark so you need to find something else.
