During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Actually, something else I am wondering instead of a Animated Canon page we could make a general Disney Fan Works page and put all the fanfics from them there. Which would clear up even more space on the Fan Works page.
Pokemon only has 7 anyway so it could be fine to just leave that.

Plus the DCU folder is just comic while there is DC work spread though out the page.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadOkay, I THINK I figured out the formatting for the Star Wars tabletop stuff (this goes after the current keeper):
- Star Wars: Roleplaying Game:
- Edge of Empire:
- Beginner Game's Escape from Mos Shuuta & The Long Arm of the Hutt: Teemo the Hutt
- Debts to Pay: EV-8D3
- Age of Rebellion:
- Onslaught at Arda 1: Malau Jocaos
- Friends Like These: Prince Sono Molec
- Edge of Empire:
Okay looking through each section. I say Disney (10 in the main section plus the others), Mortal Kombat (13 if I am not miscounting), DCU (12 in the main folder plus others), and Code Lyoko (11 if I am not miscounting) have the most and would clear up enough space that we won't have to deal with it being too long for a while.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadYeah that is not worth it with only seven.
Also missed one from my count earlier but A Song of Ice and Fire also has ten but that might be safe to stay.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadOk so according to the votes, I have 16 yes, 6 abstain and 3 nos on Count Veger. So here is his writeup:
- Jak 3: Count Veger is the power-hungry high council of the Grand Council of Haven City. Kidnapping a young Jak to harness his dark eco to access Precursor artifacts, he later banishes Jak to the Wastelands for his dark eco and the supposed attack from the Metal Heads, later revealing that he's the one who personally bombed the Palace, killing thousands and framing it on the Metal Heads to gain access to the Catacombs before siccing a Precursor robot on Jak and Daxter to kill them. He returns later and blackmails Haven City to beg him to activate the planetary defense system to destroy the Dark Maker Ship, only to get fired for his schemes. After Damas gets crushed by the Slam Dozer, tragically dying in Jak's arms, Veger proceeds to sadistically mock his death and tells Jak how he kidnapped him at a young age while holding him a gunpoint. Sadistic and cruel, Count Veger stands out among Jak's most hated enemies.
How's this?
Code Lyoko Fan Works, DC Fan Works, Disney Fan Works and Mortal Kombat Fan Works.
Add it to the drafts

What happens in Complete Monster Drafts? Do they get looked over before getting sent to their respective pages or something?
The only thing I'd write over in Veger's entry is "thousands of deaths." TBH I'm comfortable enough with him keeping based on the implied death toll, but if we don't get a specific body count, we shouldn't be giving it a specific number. Just write "countless lives are lost" or something.

In the many fan interpretations of the Mortal Kombat franchise in the never-ending war between the realms, Shao Kahn, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Shinnok prove to be just as despicable as their canon counterparts along with a few others.
Disney has been around for a long time with many works spread across various mediums, so naturally, many Fan Works of their properties exist. In these, there have been a select few who have stood out in evilness.
The DCU and related works have been around since 1934 and have naturally inspired thousands of Fan Works. Given the source material, it's only natural that some of the villains are irredeemably evil.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadHere's a potential header for the CL page :
Earth, Lyoko and many other virtual worlds are anything but worlds without danger. The following characters, in several fanworks, made sure of that.
As for quotes :
Which one do you prefer?

J’m’arrête pas tant qu’j’vois pas des lignes sur les moniteurs (Not stoppin 'til I see Flatlines)

I just realized something if the Pokemon folder get a page we will need a new Fan Works image. Which might just be more work.
