During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Moved my post so it wasn't missed:
Maybe the purpose is to throw insanity out frivolously because they're now embracing it-I have NO idea.
Based on the EP,
to Dilton.
Why does a CM do anything illogical? My standard answer: "I'm evil. Get it?"

Ghost seems like a yes.
The Zemo quote for Cap's page...doesn't work. It's from an animated series (said Zemo DOES count there, but...).
I'm just gonna do "Baron Heinrich Zemo: Nazi Nobleman, Mad Scientist, extremely evil"
I had some free time and was browsing the site out of curiosity and saw Riverdale being discussed. Well never thought I would see it discussed. Yes to Satan, Dilton, and Black Ghost, while I am here. Also sure to a page, why not.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI can't believe I am actually making this.
here is a potential quote from Vinnie Wells.
"I'm going to go back in time to make sure your parents never meet. I'll eliminate you from history completely! You'll never exist! A Riverdale without Archie Andrews! That'll be the sweetest revenge!"
Most of the Zemo quotes come from his son Helmut. Heinrech only lasted in the silver age comics and was killed their. Other than flashbacks he's a rare recurring marvel villain to permantly bite it
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Quote works.
Possible header?
Archie Andrews and his friends began life in a family-friendly comic. However, since the end of the 20th century, the franchise has become Darker and Edgier, with plenty of vile villains.
I was gonna say the 2010s, but that cartoon was 1999-2000.

@Libraryseraph
interesting about the thing and agency with forces of evil. The ghost, while possessing Fukie, makes a promise to murder the innocent nurse it feels is behind being stillborn. If that counts, I vividly remember the Ju-On/Grudge movies by comparison where Kayako while having the capacity to remember and seek out those that disturb her, doesn't single out anyone to murder by name like that.

Boy oh boy, and I thought that cringe was the only monster in Riverdale.
Anyway, here's my draft for Gault (already in the Drafts page). Since we don't have pages for Cornwell's work, is this a good way to index it?
- Kay Scarpetta series (Cruel and Unusual and From Potter's Field): Temple Brooks Gault proved to be a sociopath ever since childhood, tormenting his twin sister Jayne and killing her puppy over a perceived Parental Favoritism. Grown into a volatile Narcissist with no qualms about killing a man who has insulted his looks, he resolves to become a Serial Killer in a twisted search for fame. His victims, whose bodies he degrades in various ways, include a 13 years old boy, a pregnant woman and a prison guard who was offering him a hideout. After escaping capture, Gault announces his return by murdering Jayne, then murders three cops to further taunt Kay and her team. When the police corners him in the subway, he electrocutes Detective Meier to death and takes Lucy hostage before trying to kill Kay.
Should Archie Comics go to the "By Creator" section of Comic Books or since it's just the main franchise, just go to the "By Work" section.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup thread

Ordeaux, probably use the Franchise/ namespace for the header, and add somewhere..."Licensed titles from Archie Comics (Mega Man; Sonic the Hedgehog; Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures) can be found at their respective pages."
