During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Zong Shi wasn't really seen enough to make a presence imo. I thought Usurna because of the whole child transfers, the backstabbing of different characters and her loyalty to Gunmar not even being true since she was the one to decide on destroying killahead so Jim couldn't escape therefore keeping Gunmar trapped.

Let's shave this off!
- August II, AKA "The Bloodletter" is remembered as one of the most evil and nightmarish of the Goldenbaum Dynasty. Rising to power after a life of hedonism, August took hundreds of concubines and tortured them, flaying them alive to mock his mother before ordering her suicide once he had murdered his own brothers. Initiating a reign of torture and despotic slaughter that killed millions, August would have his victims tortured, driven to insanity and fed to his hornhead dogs while having their entire families killed, even infants.
- Those Across the River: Lucien Savoyard, ancestor of the novel's protagonist, was a nightmarish and brutal werewolf who maimed his wives to render them barren, faking his death to "show up" as his own child. A Confederate slaveowner and general, Lucien would torture countless slaves, murdering them for sport and pleasure while hunting others in wolf form every month. Infamous for the cruelties he inflicted, Lucien killed so many that though he bought countless slaves, it was suspected that he sold them so quickly due to the disappearances and upon death, cursed his killer as a werewolf as well.
- Zero Saints: Indio, head of a Cartel outfit seeking to move into Austin, is known for his dark powers and the immense amount of blood he has spilled to get his way. Introducing him self to hero Fernando with an "offer" to Fernando's employer Guillermo, Indio has his friend Nino slowly mutilated before sawing his head off and later leads a massacre of Guillermo's closest, killing the man himself and opens the throat of Fernando's kind mother figure Conseulo.
- Zofloya: The titular Zofloya is the servant of Henriquez, the object of desire of Victoria de Loredani. Teaching Victoria of poison to eliminate those in her way, including Henriquez's brother while Zofloya happily kills one servant who does not die immediately. After having Henriquez raped by Victoria, leading to his suicide, Zofloya bids Victoria to murder his beloved Lilla and then brings the ruin and suicide of the rest of the cast. Revealing his true identity as Satan to Victoria, he gloats over her downfall before killing her as well.
Anyone else able to get writeups done? Mir, you good for yours now?
I can't see much contention to this guy, so...
- Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle: Dr. Zed is a cruel, egomaniacal scientist seeking the healing power within the Sacred Tree of the Zarude, all to glorify his own ego. With no regard to any life but his own, human or Pokémon, Dr. Zed murdered his colleagues Chrom and Phossa Molybden by running them off the road, barely missing their infant son Al in the process and cutting the baby off from human civilization for ten years. When he learns Al survived years later, Zed tracks him to the Sacred Tree, lays waste to the forest and attempts to desolate the entire colony of Zarude so he can rip the healing power right from its source.
Sure.
- I Almost Married a Serial Killer: Rafael Dupont is a sociopathic killer who enjoys seducing women into loving him before gutting them. Having killed 8 women before this and kept trophies of his victims, he sets his eyes on heroine Camille. Being stopped by her, he then uses plastic surgery to re-infiltrate her life and seduces and attempt to kill her again even leveraging the life of Camille's daughter if she won't submit to him.
- There's someone inside your house: Zachary "Zach" Sandford despises his father and the need to hide his privilege so much that he turns to murder to take out his frustrations. Hunting those he views to have dirty secrets, he stalks and mocks his high school classmates by wearing masks that copy their faces before knifing them. Even killing one of his close friends, Zach starts to target heroine Makini Young and even tries to frame her for one of his attempted murders. Eventually trapping most of the town in a burning maze, Zach attempts a full-scale massacre of them in his grandest act of evil and even murders his own pleading father to show his psychopathy.

Any who for the Los Extranjeros baddies do you want me to give Rocha, Ortega, and Cruzar each their own individual entries or do you want me to put them all up into one entry?
My sandbox of EPs and other stuffBtw ACW I split up Monster Legend Of Galactic Heroes like how Harry Potter has it. Tell me if you like it.

Looks good. Here's August (and man, I could've EASILY doubled the potholes):
- Volume 4: Strategem, by Tanaka Yoshiki: Kaiser August II von Goldenbaum, aka "The Bloodletter", is remembered as one of the most evil and nightmarish of his family's Dynasty. Rising to power after a life of hedonism, August took hundreds of concubines and tortured them, flaying them alive to mock his mother before ordering her suicide once he had murdered his own brothers. Initiating a reign of torture and despotic slaughter that killed millions, August would have his victims tortured, driven to insanity, and fed to his hornhead dogs, and ordering their entire families killed, even infants.

Eager Yes to both August and Zed, great work!
No! That is NOT Solid Snake! Stop impersonating him!
