During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Yes to Legravalima and Lamb.
Anyways here's Valda:
- Season 5: Alternate Benedict Valda is Paracelsus' number 2 in the Alternate timeline and readily takes part in the experimentation of innocent people, at one point trying to have the same done to Artie. Surviving the destruction of his timeline, Valda concocts a plan to remake the Warehouse to his way of thinking, to do this he makes and deal with the Chinese government to relocate the Warehouse there in exchange for giving them artifacts to use as weapons. Kidnapping Claudia's sister Claire to be his new caretaker, Valda uses an Artifact to control her, painfully torturing her when she doesn't obey. Valda later demonstrates the destructive power of the artifacts, by trying to kill a park full of people slowly and painfully. When the Warehouse agents try to stop him, Valda thanks them for destroying his reality, before ordering Claire to kill them, including her own sister, slowly.
Done. By they way if you want my advice on a pothole for his name. A Nazi by Any Other Name is the best I can think of.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadYes to Lamb.
Now that the recent spat of EPs has tempered slightly, my next Marvel. From Wolverine/Hulk: 6 Hours, we have Shredder. Once again I'll be quick.
Who is Shredder? What has he done?
Shredder is a mercenary for hire with long claws and a skull-face he hides with a Scarecrow-esque burlap sack. He almost killed Wolverine in a direct battle once. Shredder has a long and storied history of blood, one he immediately proves; when he's rung up to take care of a few new clients, he's in the middle of torturing some random schmuck to death.
Assigned to take out two weaselly drug dealers named Sid and Whitie, Shredder begins murdering every single person in his way for no reason whatsoever, even if they help him. Sid and Whitie's drop agent helps him; Shredder kills him. A friendly fisherman offers to let Shredder use his boat; Shredder disembowels him. A harmless elderly couple make the unfortunate mistake of stumbling upon him, and Shredder rips them to bloody pieces.
Finally, Shredder finds Whitie, injured from a car accident. Shredder brutalises the already horribly injured man to find out where Sid is, then kills him. Shredder then tracks down Sid and kills him too,and decides to murder a random woman and a twelve-year-old dying of snake venom. Shredder only relents on killing them when the woman offers to show him a hidden cache of money, only for Shredder to eventually try and drown the envenomed kid and kill the woman anyways. Wolverine takes off his arm and lets a mountain lion finish him off.
Any mitigating factors?
N'uh. If he's not the absolute nastiest Wolverine guy ever fought (hi, Sabretooth! Hi, Contagion!) he's still absolutely up on a list with them. Shredder's constant, constant torture-murder (or attempted) of I think literally every single character he comes in contact with means I think he's easily packing enough onscreen evil for a one-off Psycho for Hire.
Conclusion?
Keep!
Yes to Shredder and a big yes to Legravalima
I've got a couple today to kick off October...for Marvel's animation, one missing baddie who was dismissed previously? the Dread Dormammu.
Who is Dormammu?
The ruler of the Dark Dimension, debuting in Spider-Man Season 3 as the enemy of Doctor Strange, Dormammu. Dormammu is a devourer of souls and dimensions, having consumed many before setting his eyes on the earth dimension, risking starvation with his delays.... Dormammu is the one behind Baron Mordo's wiked cult, luring in others like MJ through cruel manipulation with their loved ones and almost coming through to consume the universe. Thankfully? HE's prevented from coming back through.
Later assisting Mordo, Dormmammu masterminds the return of the Venom Symbiote and its return to Eddie Brock, whereupon Venom is instructed to get a machine from Stark Industries and release Dormammu ASAP...their plan B? Bonding the new symbiote, Carnage to Cletus Cassidy....allowing Carnage to finally unlock the door.
Dormammu? Proceeds to begin reaping the souls of earth, intending to consume and destroy it immediately....with them fighting off Carnage, though, Spidey reverses the polarity on the device used to bring Dormammu through to banish him to the Dark Dimension along with Carnage. This also results in Venom's Heroic Sacrifice to push through with Carnage and save his lover Dr. Ashley Kafka...this is the last we see of Dormammu in series, the souls he had taken restored to their owners.
Mitigating Issues?
No. The reason he was dismissed before is actively feeding on universes....but yeah, Dormammu actively enjoys it. He's as much a cruel sadist as Carnage and Mordo who revels in his nature. Beyond that? No, he's responsible for everything they do with an absolutely gargantuan body count, with his pattern. He tries to consume all that lives multiple times.
Conclusion?
A simple keep, but a keep.
Sure to Dormammu. Please don't forget the link: Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
I guess we can add Ed Gilbert to those who have played a CM, and fought one (as General Hawk, he fought Golobulus).

Yes to Dormammu. I am glad to see he counts, following my poor attempt previously. Man looking back at that ep it's just really embarrassing how bad it was. Hopefully I have got much better at it.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadAlright, it's October 1st and 2 weeks after the release of Deltarune Chapter 2, and I'm pretty sure you know where I'm going with this.
Early in chapter 2, you can talk to King, who has been imprisoned by Lancer (provided you go pacifist), and once you try to leave, he says a few things that indicate that he might genuinely care about Lancer- Asking if he's happy, clarifying that the whole throwing him off a cliff thing is a bluff, and, even if he did drop him, Lancer would have bounced right back non-lethally, even calling him a "bouncy little pumpkin".
I say he's a cut.
oh i thought we were talking about this today but alright lmao

Setting?
When Night Falls is a manga following a young man named Wakaru, who searches revenge on the murderers of his sister, who were recently freed. To this end, Wakaru uses his newfound power to infiltrate on the dreams of others.
All of the murderers are assholes, but main culprit turns out to have go to even more heinous crimes.
Who is Akiyama Kitanija?
One of the murderers of Wakaru's sister, Akiyama lead his gang into kinapping and raping her, with Akiyama personally killing her when she tried to escape after mentioning that he doesn't like "alive girls".
Arrested and freed years later due to his young age, Akiayama does becomes the owner of a brothel that forces indebted woman into prostituion, with his men and himself watching them as they have sex to humilliate them.
When Wakaru searches for him, Wakaru works alongside one of Akiyama's workers, who was burned with acid after doing a minor mistake as punishment as Akiyama wanted to set a example, with the victim commenting that Akiyama's treatment of his own men is akin to slavery.
When Akiyama notices Wakaru disguised as his hairdresser, Akiyama beats him and send him to be tortured for his men. But Wakaru uses his powers and alliances to escape, as everything was part of a rouse to get himself touched by Akiyama (Wakaru's powers need specific conditions to work).
Angry at that and starting to realize that Wakaru genuinely has supernatural powers, Akiyama targets his house and plans to burn it, intending to kill his entire family as he gloats about how he killed their daughter.
However, Akiyama is arrested as he felt on the bait and faces the realization that he is now fully vulnerable to being targetted on his sleep, because now Wakaru knows where he sleeps. He fights against it, but Akiyama sleeps and is visited for Wakaru.
Akiyama begs mercy and ask forgiveness...only to mock Wakaru as he seemingly leaves, which seals his fate, as Wakaru never left. In the end, Akiyama's body is found with a smashed head.
Heinous standard?
Murder, rape, implicit necrophilia, forced prositution, torture and arson.
...Yeah. I think he passes handily.
Mitigant traits?
Lol no. All of the murderers are Hate Sink, but Akiyama is the leader who drove the rest into such a dark path and proceeded to have the most prolific criminal career of those.
Verdict?
You decide.
