During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Well, it's been two weeks since this movie came out. Now's about time we talk about a new movie that I thoroughly enjoyed.
What's the work?
Copshop is a 2021 action movie by Joe Carnahan starring Frank Grillo, Gerard Butler, and Alexis Louder. Inspired by the works of 70s police action thrillers like Assault on Precinct 13 (1976), Copshop is a film I totally recommend.
Valerie Young is a rookie for the Las Vegas Police Department. She’s just arrested Theodore “Teddy” Murretto, a sleazy conman who has just about everybody out to get him, taking him to the police station to spend the night in the basement cells. That same night, the mysterious Bob Viddick is arrested for drunk driving, and is put in a cell across from Teddy’s. But once those cell doors close, Viddick drops the act, revealing to Teddy that he’s been sober this entire time.
Turns out that the police department is secretly into drug trafficking, Viddick is a hitman tasked to kill Teddy, and hell breaks loose once the head of the police station, Schier, calls in a hitman to rid the station of not only Teddy, but its unsuspecting cops as well. It’s up to Valerie and the rest to fight their way out of the station and uncover the conspiracy.
Let’s talk about that hitman, shall we?
Who Is He?
Anthony Lamb (played with perfection by Toby Huss) is an elderly, yet very funny hitman who uses his dark and wacky sense of humor to hide the fact that he’s one very sick puppy.
What has he done?
Tasked by Schier to wipe out the police station of Teddy and its cops once her station's secret drug operation looks to be exposed, Lamb happily takes up the offer by gunning down a majority of the police inside the station. Getting the traitorous cop Huber to serve as his lackey, Lamb often mocks him for his weight while he forces him to do most of the grunt work, while belittling all those around him.
Lamb is revealed to be the most responsible for the death of Teddy’s ex-wife and son, having been the one to kill them, a fact that he’s not afraid to gloat about after Teddy’s freed from his cell. Upon two cops stumbling upon Lamb and Huber, Lamb kills one of them, then forces Huber to kill the other after finding out that he’s his friend, promising to kill them both should Huber refuse.
After this incident is interrupted by Teddy, a game of cat and mouse ensues between the two, with Lamb mocking Teddy about how he killed his family. Acting apathetic when he finds that the escaped Viddick has killed Huber, Lamb is soon incapacitated by Viddick, squealing and raging like a rabid animal as he tries to get the lumbering killer to help him up, but Teddy's able to finish him off.
Redeeming Qualities?
None. While Lamb is a very funny character, his jokes don't do anything to hide the fact that there is nothing good or saintly about him whatsoever.
Heinousness?
While Lamb’s pretty funny, his actions are still played seriously, with even the hardened Viddick describing him as a “psychopath”. While he’s ultimately under orders from Schier, Lamb takes immense glee in his kills, separating himself from the other characters in just how much enjoyment he gets from his job, with his wisecracks only adding to that. He has the highest onscreen body count in the movie, and the only character we know of who killed a child, even if it was done offscreen. The bit where he forces Huber to kill his friend also pushes him further into CM territory, as he had no reason to do that other than because he's a massive dick.
Nobody else comes close to counting. Teddy, despite being a cowardly weasel who will betray anybody to save his own skin, cares deeply about his ex-wife and son, and doesn’t do much else to count. Viddick is a Noble Demon. Schier doesn’t do much beyond simple drug trafficking, and doesn’t get to display much else whenever she’s onscreen beyond hiring Lamb to do her bidding.
Conclusion
Not the vilest character I've proposed, but I think he checks enough boxes to be considered a keep.

It's Spooky Month! To answer why Legravalima hasn't been brought up before, me and Lighty actually did discuss her and were both conflicted. She's treated as much of a victim of her insatiable hunger (both literally and metaphorically) as the people she oppresses, and after her death, Musica explicitly gives an Alas, Poor Villain moment to her.
Still, I'm fine either way with her going up.

the not at all Sacrificial Lamb.
I suppose I can understand that, but I don't think it would count as a Freudian Excuse, and even if it does she's went far past the point where it can justify it. Also Mujika's (or Musica? I dunno it was Mujika in the copies I read) the only one shown to feel this way and she deliberately states that she feels pity for her. She's gone past the point of being (at least intentionally) sympathetic. But I dunno. I suppose this is kind of a gray area. Jury? Your thoughts?
Also on a personal note, I was mostly alright with how the manga ended. There were things that could've been improved on but I'd still say I enjoyed it.
I’m gonna put some Gloom in your eye.
Berserk Button: misusing Berserk Button
Also, about this I found on her page:
- Big Sister Instinct: She's very worried about the disappearance of her little brother, Archduke Leuvis. Though when she refuses to die after her first core is destroyed all she thinks about is eating the Grace Field children so doesn't seem to care about him that much.
Is this mitigating or not, Awsomekid? I have not read the manga so I dunno. But since you mentioned feeling conflicted only at the insatiable hunger thing, I’m assuming this isn’t.

One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord. This was only mentioned once by one of the regent heads, and at least in my copy, this is what they said.
- "I hear that her majesty cannot get ahold of her younger brother, Archduke Leuvis, either. How heartrending."

I’m gonna put some Gloom in your eye.'Yes' to Crimson, Lamb, and Legravalima
- Namor the Sub-Mariner:
- "Marvel Mystery Comics: The Case of the Vanishing Venuses": Sari Tartar is a disfigured film director intent on punishing all those she finds attractive out of both envy and pure spiteful sadism. Under the illusion of making a new film, Sari lures dozens of people into her clutches to enslave and torture them, using a whip personally to beat her captives to near-death on a regular basis. When Namor and his partners try to save her victims, Sari captures and subjects the heroic trio to torture before trying to kill them all.
- High Moor
- Book 1: Malcolm Harrison is a lazy, hedonistic bully who becomes far worse as the opportunities arise. A town bully as a young teenager, Malcolm particularly terrorized local kid John and his friends, nearly subjecting the group to genital mutilation before trying to burn young Marie alive for humiliating him. In adulthood, Malcolm abuses and neglects his wife and kids, and, when given the power of the werewolf, immediately uses his abilities to slaughter and eat his entire family. Going on a killing spree that claims several more lives, Malcolm intends to murder an adult John, then take the man's friend Marie as a Sex Slave, all out of a petty grudge at them both for crossing him in childhood.
- Blood Moon: Colonel Brian Richards is a prejudice military commander out to annihilate every last trace of werewolves across High Moor just to secure himself a promotion. Richards sanctions and endorses the insane Dr. Channing's horrific experiments on captured werewolves, and throw hundreds of civilians into the Lindholme prison camp alongside werewolves, uncaring that the werewolf infection spreads and innocents are constantly abused and on the verge of being massacred. His ultimate plan being to firebomb Lindholme and the surrounding area to kill thousands of men, women and children under the false narrative of them all being werewolves, Richards then tries to personally sweep through and gun down anyone left standing.

No! That is NOT Solid Snake! Stop impersonating him!
for Anthony Lamb.
I finished Tails of Iron BTW. Don't have an EP yet since I'm at work but I'll make one once I'm back home. I'm actually...fairly curious to see how the forum's gonna respond to it.
I write stories and shiz. You can read them here. Here's Sima Yi's updated write-up and Qiongqi's new one. I had to overhaul Sima Yi's entry to make sure it wasn't too long while still reflecting both series. Also note that Qiongqi's entry will have to be spoilered-out on the Heroes page as his existence isn't revealed until later on:
- SD Gundam World
- SD Gundam World Heroes: Qiongqi Strike Freedom Gundam, jealous of Sanzang Strike Freedom Gundam for becoming the next Star King over him and disproving of his pacifism, decides to take control of the universe through force. Qiongqi collaborates with Sima Yi Destiny Gundam to turn the young Wukong Impulse Gundam into a vicious killer and commit mass genocide across countless planets for him to subjugate, starting with Earth. Qiongqi tricks Caesar Legend Gundam into reviving two war criminals and forces him to watch as he tortures his wife Cleopatra Qubeley to satisfy his sadism. Qiongqi goes on to Mind Rape the heroes to break their spirits and summon the moon Dark Star to complete Wukong's transformation before attempting to personally kill Sanzang while gloating about how he will become ruler of the universe. As his plans fall apart, Qiongqi tries to crash Dark Star into the Earth and destroy the planet in a final act of spite.
- SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden and SD Gundam World Heroes: Sima Yi Destiny Gundam, under his facade as a researcher seeking to improve the world, is a self-absorbed madman out to take control through force. Becoming a student of Zhang Jue Devil Gundam to use his research for his own plans, Sima Yi's ego is so bruised by Zhang Jue favoring fellow student Zhuge Liang Freedom Gundam that he turns his mentor into a living refinery for the Etiolation Trinity and spreads the virus across Kingdom World to turn everyone into zombies out of spite, creating the Dark Masks after expanding to other Worlds. Constantly manipulating others like Cao Cao Wing Gundam and Nobunaga Gundam Epyon while disposing of pawns like Dong Zhuo Providence Gundam and Mitsuhide, Sima Yi is revealed to be collaborating with Qiongqi Strike Freedom Gundam to use the young Wukong Impulse Gundam, who Sima Yi fused with his brothers and gave false memories pinning the blame on Wukong to cause the child grief, to wipe out countless planets for the sake of power. Sima Yi has become obsessed with killing Zhuge Liang, blaming him for all of his crimes and refusing to see himself as in the wrong.
Isn't Qiongqi the Big Bad of the franchise as a whole? Yet he's only in one game?
Ah, that's seems a fairly easy fix:
- Heroes: Qiongqi Strike Freedom Gundam is the Greater-Scope Villain of World as a whole. Jealous of Sanzang Strike Freedom Gundam for becoming the next Star King over him and disproving of his pacifism, Qiongqi decides to take control of the universe through force...

Damn, there has been quite a lot of EP's today I may have one of my own coming up decently soon.
