During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Has it been 2 weeks since his arc ended?
And heinousness...just because he lacks a Freudian Excuse or what have you doesn't make him the most heinous.

I want to know more about what he was like without his memories of being Goblin. As it stands, it sounds like without his Goblin Gas affecting him, he is unpleasant but not close to the heinousness standard. (Also what's his agency like? Is he constantly huffing gas to get himself in a murderous mode? I feel like there are a lot of gaps here.)
Abstain on Goblin until the event is completely finished.
But for now, here's more Trishul.
Okay, so to get you guys up to speed, members of Trishul include the fighter Arihant, the stealth expert Faiza, the hacker Sudo, and their head commander.
Now then, let’s get to our second and final candidate.
Who Is He?
Jagdeep is a hired mercenary working for the Aydian Conclave in their plan to kickstart Pralaya.
What has he done?
A greedy gunman who only signed on to get paid, rather than actually believing in the Conclave’s cause, Jagdeep chooses to assist the cult in their plan to engage a man-made apocalypse on the assumption that he’ll get money from helping them.
Jagdeep is first introduced abducting a little girl from her mother, just for the purpose of getting her father, a doctor named Remon, to give him the blueprints needed to kickstart the Pralaya plan. Once he has everything he needs from Remon, Jagdeep pulls out a knife and disembowels him, telling his men to finish his daughter off as he watches Remon squirm and bleed to death. But when Trishul raid his base, Jagdeep leaves his men to die, destroys everything that could lead them to the Conclave base, and rides off on his motorbike.
Later assassinating a Conclave scientist who was being forced to explain the Grandmaster’s plan to Trishul, Jagdeep helped orchestrate the mass shootings in Indore by allowing his men to partake in the slaughter, and leads the Conclave mercenaries in the poisoning of Indore’s water supply. But when Trishul arrives to stop them, he hightails it out, leaving his partner Anshuman to take care of them himself.
Taking out Trishul’s head commander with an RPG, Jagdeep sneaks up behind Faiza and tries to strangle her to death. Getting into a bloody fight with her, once the water plant’s been destroyed by Trishul as a way to stop the Conclave, Jagdeep, deciding that he’s not getting paid to beat her to death and that the mission’s a failure, pulls a gun out in an attempt to sadistically shoot her. But before he can pull the trigger, Arihant arrives and shoots him in the head.
Redeeming Qualities?
Zilch. Jagdeep is a total asshole who cares only about getting paid, and cares very little for his own comrades. He’s such a sociopath, that he flat out tells Anshuman, who's going on about the death of his son, that he doesn’t care about what he's going through.
Heinousness?
Jagdeep is a high-ranking mercenary for the Conclave, but he’s willing to participate in the mass slaughter and poisoning of thousands of innocents just for a quick buck. He’s thoroughly described as a sadist who also cherishes the ways he can harm his victims, and easily stands out from the other Conclave members for his selfish personality.
He’s easily the worst of the mercenaries, as Anshuman, despite his many years of killing and willingness to take part in the Conclave’s crimes, seeks vengeance against Trishul for killing his son, so instant disqualifier.
Conclusion
I think he’s also a keep.
It's Spooky Month!
Jagdeep’s essentially one of the Grandmaster’s two top hitmen alongside Ashuman, basically a Co-Dragon who leads his forces to commit acts of extortion and murder. We also see Jagdeep do more if the heavy lifting compared to Ashuman.
And there are three active members of Trishul; Sudo chooses to remain isolated while leaving the other three members to do all the fighting.
