During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

I noticed a CM entry was added for the Darkest Faerie on YMMV.Neopets The Darkest Faerie. nightelf37 made a wording/accuracy change, and I made a followup correction. Then I noticed that part of the entry was confusingly worded. This part (as it currently stands):
According to the Wikipedia plot summary
,
However, the above sentence quoted from the entry is worded as if she succeeds in "destroying both kingdoms and killing everyone". It's also a run-on sentence.
Here's my proposed edit:
I also have to question whether it's necessary to have the pothole to the game's work page on the YMMV page for the game itself. (The one on "she returns 1000 years later")

Paper Tiger maybe?
Hmm, on the YMMV the pothole for the game probably can be removed. Please add the revised version to the Drafts.

Yea to Po, and also...have another possibility from Young Justice, from season 2: Black Beetle.
Who is Black Beetle?
One of the alien forces known as The Reach, a government of alien conquerors forced to subtlety after they had been forced by the Guardians of the Universe to sign a peace treaty. Black Beetle is one of their chief warriors, gifted with a Scarab to give him immense power and thus in charge of the security of the Ambassador, leader of the Reach there....Black Beetle is first introduced assisting in the gatherings of metahuman children for the experiments of the Reach...first planting a bomb to kill off a bunch of aliens called Kroloteans, the Team and even any of Black Manta's own forces in a nuclear blast, Black Beetle later destroys a golem that seems to ally with the Team rather than risk any hint of 'betrayal.'
Now, one of the Team, Jaime Reyes, has a Reach Scarab on him as well, which has gained a bit of a conscience. Black Beetle wants to reboot it, even if doing so kills Jaime, while guarding the kids they've abducted to turn them over to Reach scientists. This leads to him facing the Team openly for the first time, deriding any humans as nothing but "Meat" to be slaughtered....later trying to slaughter Metahuman runaways, black Beetle steadily grows more and more disillusioned and frustrated with having to be a mere Security guard and also with the Light, their partners on earth...
Things break down. Heavily. Black Beetle tries to kill the Team, the Light and does kill Ra's al Ghul (Not permanent, but props for trying)...thenbetraying the Reach ambassador and usurping him under their codes, Black Beetle decides enough playing around...they'll just get around the problem of trying to conquer Earth in violation of the treaty by erasing the evidence. Black Beetle attempts to annihilate earth and kill everything there, before the team confronts him. Gleeful at being able to cut loose, Black Beetle is finally defeated when his Scarab is broken...Black Beetle is sent to the Guardians, to stand trial for his crimes in his defeat.
Heinousness?
Now, Black Beetle is a thuggish brute who mostly just wants to kill people...not much of a heinousness heavyweight for this. BUT...the horrific metahuman experiments? Maybe not as bad as S3...but then the finale. Black Beetle goes further than almost any other villain with everything else: He just decides to destroy earth to cover his own ass, even after usurping the Reach Ambassador.
Mitigating issues?
Well, now...no. Unlike others, Black Beetle is a gleeful, savage sadist who wants to kill everything in sight, no care for the Reach, only growing frustration dreams of conquest are frustrated as things carry on with futility. He usurps the Ambassador, and while the Reach's own laws do allow him to do so...it's worth noting their actions are still illegal by the treaty the reach has signed and Black Beetle knows it. He's a thug who gets up in the world and knows enough to kill every living thing on earth. Why? Because he just wants to erase evidence.
Conclusion?
I say a yes. Easily one of the highest projected body counts and a brutal, thuggish sadist aside from it.
