During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

I pretty much suck at writing and my knowledge of Enemy Within is limited to skimming the pages and the Wiki, but here goes nothing.
"Ali bin Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Fulani, known to the public as a benevolent philanthropist, actually runs a child prostitution ring fronted by his orphanages, which he himself frequents. In the orphanages, scantily clad children are forced to perform a perverse "talent show" before they are taken upstairs, a sight that even disgusts the stoic Agent 47. Al-Fulani also runs a drug ring inherited from his father and had top members of the Tumaco Cartel killed when negotiations soured. A board member of Puissance Treize, he is introduced torturing Professor Paul Rollet for information about 47 and having his bodyguard Marla execute Rollet despite promising to spare him. He threatens Marla into having a threesome with him and a child before they flee to Chad, where he makes a stop to buy more child sex slaves, separating a brother and sister in the process."
Hope it's not too late for pothole suggestions:
- The Baroness: Chronic Backstabbing Disorder at "kill even Destro"
- Dominic Greene: Puppet King at "indebted to his whims", Leave No Witnesses at "just for seeing Greene in the wrong place", Lack of Empathy at "callousness"
- General Medrano: Frame-Up at "frame the government", Evil Gloating at "mocking her about her mother and sister"
- Ghal-Sur: Take Over the World at "worldwide conquest march", Slavery Is a Special Kind of Evil at "slave labor"
- Grand Inquisitor Uruq: I Own This Town at "ruler of a large town", Let's You and Him Fight at "start a war between his town's peasants and guards", You Have Outlived Your Usefulness at "tries to kill his remaining guards and all those loyal to him"
- Rawhead Rex: Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil at "gang-rape human women"
- Ozymandias: Pothole Baphomet
- Josef Mengele: Playing with Syringes at "sadistic experiments"
- Zorikan: Greed at "he stops at nothing to regain it", Lack of Empathy at "scarcely even looking at the corpse of his own brother", Would Harm a Senior at "old man"
- Keith McCallum: Corrupt Corporate Executive is incorrectly potholed
- Doug: Self-Harm at "self-harm"
- Kora: Immortality Immorality at "make herself look young"
And that's all I have, at least for now.
Revised addition.
"Ali bin Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Fulani, known to the public as a benevolent philanthropist, actually runs a child prostitution ring fronted by his orphanages, which he himself frequents. In the orphanages, scantily clad children are forced to perform a perverse "talent show" for the customers before they are taken upstairs to be raped, a sight that even disgusts the stoic Agent 47. The TV show Perversions Of Science (which has one CM entry) was also an EC Comics adaptation.
Okay, just found out by complete chance that there are now Firefly comics under the name "Firefly"
, so it looks like the Serenity comic listings may be moved back to under "F" after all.
Okay...I have an unexpectedly real fucking sicko tonight.
What's the work?
Prime Cut is a 1972 film starring Lee Marvin, Gene Hackman and Sissy Spacek...Marvin plays Nick Devlin, an enforcer for the Chicago Irish mob sent to pick up a package from a crooked Slaughterhouse owner in Kansas City, Kansas (Not Missouri)...unfortunately, well...the Slaughterhouse Owner isn't playing ball. Enter the truly depraved bastard Mary Ann.
Who is Mary Ann?
You wouldn't think a name like Mary Ann would hide pure evil, would you? Probably the most twisted bastard ever played by Gene Hackman, Mary Ann runs a famous slaughterhouse where all sorts of lambs, pigs, cows, etc are butchered...along with him dealing with troublesome enemies that way. He also runs a select service for the mob: corpse disposal. Unfortunately, Mary Ann owes a debt he's not big on paying off. People who go in to collect tend to die, with their corpses ground to sausage and sold off...another enforcer was found floating in the river. Our hero, Nick Devlin has some history with Mary Ann and agrees for a fee of 50,000 bucks with a small crew...
Devlin focuses on Mary Ann's thuggish brother Weenie, ordering him to inform Mary Ann Devlin is in town. Mary Ann meets with Devlin at a lavish feast, tells him to attend the Country Fair and promises him the money, before showing him all the meat they parcel out...including teenage prostitutes. Yes, Mary Ann trafficks girls from orphanages or anywhere else, selling them to lecherous buyers after he's doped them up so they can't protest. Devlin is stunned and revolted by this. One girl, Poppy, can only mutter "help me," prompting Devlin to take her "on account" of Mary Ann's debt...Devlin is able to detox her and the two grow close (okay, one thing that has aged REALLY BADLY is the romance between Poppy and Devlin, Lee Marvin was like 48 FFS!)
Mary Ann ends up murdering Devlin's subordinate O'Brien, the other men barely saving Devlin...realizing how bad it is, Devlin tries to regroup but Mary Ann attacks Poppy, kills one of Devlin's men and has Poppy's friend Violet gang-raped in front of her, making Poppy watch as a promise of what'll happen to her....Devlin and his men lay siege to the slaughterhouse...Devlin wins the fight and Mary Ann and Weenie are gunned down...Mary Ann, in agony begs Devlin to put him out of his misery, but Devlin coldly leaves him to die in agony
Film ends with Devlin and Poppy picking up the other orphans from the abusive orphanage madam so Devlin can provide for them in Chicago (with one great line: "This is an orphanage!" Devlin: "So I'm adopting!")
Mitigating issues?
Okay, um...heinousness. Okay, he kills some folks, has 'em cooked into sausage, not that bad, right? The bodycount is decent, but nothing spectacular, aaaaand he's running white slavery forced prostitute auctions with teenage girls doped up to be given to the highest bidders and has a teenager gang-raped. It's also strongly implied the girls he's done with find themselves ground up for sausage
Like...what else do I need to say to this? Let's talk mitigating issues: No.
Weenie loves his brother, but Mary Ann couldn't give a damn. He treats Weenie as a thug and hen they wrestle at one point, Mary Anne is shown to cheat to beat him up, insults him and only considers him muscle. His wife, Clarabelle? He treats her well, but she's a trophy wife and he just likes to show her off as a status symbol. His sex trade? "Cow flesh, girl flesh, it's all the same to me!"
Conclusion?
An easy, easy, easy keeper.

-bursts out of hole in the ground with ears perked- OOH! It's one of those candidates.

I am here to announce I have set up my HBOMax account and make do a Godzilla vs. Kong effortpost shortly.
I crosswicked for Transformers/G.I. Joe.
Yes to Bishop, Freako, Mary Ann (a guy named Mary Ann?).
- Hitman: Enemy Within: Ali bin Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Fulani, known to the public as a benevolent philanthropist, actually runs a child prostitution ring fronted by his orphanages, which he himself frequents. NVM, just checked, he was proposed and approved. Still, the "Aryan" probably should be put in quotation marks.
To clarify, i talked about 50557 from EC Comics page and wondered if he was proposed and approved before, due to the weird word Aryan there and the last sentence which only tells implied stuff, rather than clear cut crime.
Here is the entry:
Perversions of Science Spin-Off's "The Exile": 50557 is an aberrant member of a peaceful futuristic society, a serial killing Mad Scientist who has experimented on and murdered forty people, both to "relieve the pressure" and to try and eliminate what he sees as "impurities" like the brown eyes of an otherwise ideally Aryan woman. 50557 disposes of his victims' remains in barrels, dozens of which are found in his lair after he is arrested and placed in the care of Doctor Nordhoff. After 50557 kills his cellmate and defiantly resists all of Nordhoff's attempts to treat him, he is sentenced to have his memories erased and replaced with false ones before being exiled to an Insignificant Little Blue Planet. When a subordinate expresses concern over dumping 50557—who, despite his new memories, will still be guided by his buried subconscious—on an unsuspecting populace, Nordhoff reassures him by saying, "He's just one man, how much damage could he possibly do?", as the episode ends with footage of the rise of Nazi Germany.
