During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

You know I was wondering why wasn't Monster.GARO locked it looks complete to me, maybe I am missing something though.
Okay, I'm rewriting the Shadow of a Doubt entry:
- Complete Monster: Charles "Uncle Charlie" Oakley is a seemingly affable and caring man who in actuality is a cold-blooded Serial Killer known as the "Merry Widow Murderer". Denouncing widows as "greedy, fat wheezing animals" who exploit their husbands' hard-earned wealth, Charles has strangled at least three women to death, stealing their fortunes for himself. When his niece discovers evidence of his dark secret, Charles sets about attempting to murder her, sabotaging a staircase to make her fall to her death, attempting to suffocate her with exhaust fumes in a garage, and ultimately attempting to throw her off a train and get her run over by an oncoming speeding train. A misanthropic maniac who has no remorse for his petty actions, Uncle Charlie stands out as one of the earliest, and most vile, depictions of a sociopath in film.
How's this 43110? And while you're at it, throw in one of these for a quote:
- — Charles "Charlie" Oakley: Women keep busy in towns like this. In the cities it's different. The cities are full of women, middle-aged widows, husbands dead, husbands who've spent their lives making fortunes, working and working. Then they die and leave their money to their wives. Their silly wives. And what do the wives do, these useless women? You see them in the hotels, the best hotels, every day by the thousands, drinking the money, eating the money, losing the money at bridge, playing all day and all night, smelling of money. Proud of their jewelry but of nothing else. Horrible, faded, fat, greedy women.— Charlotte "Charlie" Newton: They're alive! They're human beings!— Charles: Are they? Are they, Charlie? Are they human or are they fat wheezing animals, hmm? And what happens to animals when they get too fat and too old?
- — Charlie: When are you leaving, Uncle Charlie?— Uncle Charlie: Oh come now, Charlie. That other business - it's all over. I'd like to forget it. We're all happy here.— Charlie: When are you leaving?— Uncle Charles: I'm not going, you see. Not yet, I'm not going. I want to settle down. Live in a place where people know me. Have some money in the bank, some sort of business. Be a part of this family.— Charlie: Oh, I see.— Uncle Charlie: The most sensible thing for you to do is to be friends with me. I can do a lot for you, Charlie. A lot for all of you.— Charlie: No, not you. We don't want anything from you. I wish I'd told my mother about you. I wish I had.— Uncle Charlie: Oh, I know what you've been thinking. How do you think your mother would have felt? What would it do to her now? How about your father's job at the bank? What would become of all of you if everything came out?— Charlie: I know. You needn't be afraid. I can't tell them.— Uncle Charlie: I'm not afraid, Charlie. What would you tell? Who would believe you? A waltz runs through your head. You don't like the initials in a ring and you connect it all up with a newspaper clipping. And now you haven't even got the ring. I don't know what became of it.— Charlie: You have it.— Uncle Charlie: I? I gave it to you.— Charlie: I don't want you here, Uncle Charlie. I don't want you to touch my mother. So go away, I'm warning you. Go away or I'll kill you myself. See, that's the way I feel about you.
- — Uncle Charlie: Charlie, just a minute. I want you to know I think you were right to make me leave. It's best for your mother. Best for all of us. You saw what happened to her last night. She's not very strong, you know. I don't think she could stand the shock. I remember once when she was a little girl... (The train begins moving faster, but he seizes her as she panics and tries to break away.) No, listen Charlie, I want you to forget all about me. Forget that I ever came to Santa Rosa.— Charlie: Your hands! Let me go, Uncle Charlie. Let me go.
- — Uncle Charlie: I've got to do this, Charlie, so long as you know what you do about me. (He lifts her off the ground - her legs dangle in the air) Not yet, Charlie, let it get a little faster! Just a little faster! Faster! Now!"

Sorry man, someone's been edit pimping all these characters recently. Without the Character Specific Pages index I wouldn't have even noticed these pages existed.

Smallville Lex Luthor and Smallville Clark Kent now exist and since they are mentioned in several of the entries for the show. We might want to pothole them some where.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadFUCK. Okay. Also, on that note, Desaad:
- Season 10: Desaad is one of Darkseid's Co-Dragons, and unnerves even his fellow Apokiliptians, Granny Goodness and Gordon Godfrey. Operating a chain of BDSM-themed nightclubs, Desaad uses them as a front to corrupt the minds of his clientele, making them susceptible to a mass Mind Rape by Darkseid. Anyone who cannot be corrupted is gruesomely murdered, as Desaad uses his telekinetic powers to induce hemorrhaging and implode their internal organs, leading to an agonizing death from internal bleeding. Having disposed of several FBI agents who were investigating him, Desaad kidnaps Chloe and subjects her to an extended mind rape, attempting to turn her into one of Darkseid's minions. When she proves resistant, Desaad tries to kill her, tries to kill Clark when the latter intervenes to save her, and then turns Oliver Queen/Green Arrow into a minion of Darkseid after provoking the archer into brutally beating him. Incarcerated under Belle Reve, Desaad breaks out, gives the now mind-controlled Oliver a Gold K ring, and tries to force him to depower Clark, so that the future Superman can be slain and the end of the world ushered in. Devoted to freeing Darkseid and bringing about The End of the World as We Know It, Desaad is equal parts Torture Technician, cultist, and Serial Killer.
I think we can chop that last sentence, and I also wanna fit Smallville: Apokiliptians, so:
- Season 10: Desaad is one of Darkseid's Co-Dragons from Apokolips, and unnerves even his fellow dragons, Granny Goodness and Gordon Godfrey. Operating a chain of BDSM-themed nightclubs, Desaad uses them as a front to corrupt the minds of his clientele, making them susceptible to a mass Mind Rape by Darkseid. Also, I'm not mad at y'all for letting me know those pages exist; I'm not even mad that they were created. It's just it makes more work (honestly, sometimes I wonder what the hell I signed up for when I started doing this
).
Space, please add the rewrite to the Drafts.

By the way, in "The day I was forced to become a hitman
", The Banker is referred to by the alias of "Ralph", and the protagonist "Tyler".
That works.

Morally Bankrupt Banker for his name then?
Also, someone please correctly format the quotes in the Drafts page, and please add them to Monster Quotes.

So I learned that Xenu
was rejected here for being... Scientology? Umm, was there a reason why someone from Scientology can't get approved here? Just wondering because I just find that a questionable reason to get downvoted that's all.

BTW, looks like all the entries are up at Artix Entertainment. I sent Snowy a PM asking if there were any more; if not, I'll request locking on Tuesday when I submit the batch; the Midsomer page will also get locked then.
Also, damn, some of the entries at Marvel Literature are REALLY long. Like, over 250 words for a single book. My own Carnage is among those.
