Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

R.J. Rastapopoulos from The Adventures of Tintin (1991)

The Show: An animated series based on the famed Tintin comics by Belgian author Hergé, the show stuck rather closely to the source material, though that is not to say that it did not streamline and alter the stories to varying degrees; it also changed the order of them (for examples, Tintin - Tintin in America is now the last adventure rather than one of the first, while Tintin: Flight 714 now takes place before the events of Tintin: The Red Sea Sharks, which it now leads into to create a two-part storyline).

All of the main players are here: young intrepid reporter Tintin; his faithful canine companion, Snowy (who does not have an internal dialogue, like in the comics); the salty sea dog Captain Haddock (whose alcoholism was greatly downplayed); the absent-minded Professor Cuthbert Calculus; and the bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson.

Who They Are: R.J. Rastapopoulos presents himself as a famed producer for Cosmos Pictures, but in reality he is a ruthless drug lord whose empire stretches from Egypt to China. Anyone who interferes with his operation is either killed (like the unfortunate archaeologists who have stumbled onto one of his bases hidden in the lost tomb of Pharaoh Kih-Oskh) or driven irrevocably insane (eliminating them as a threat and destroying their lives) by a special madness-inducing poison called Rajaijah juice.

What They Do:

  • 6. While Tintin is on a cruise ship travelling across the Indian Ocean, he meets Sophocles Sarcophagus, an archaeologist who is searching for the tomb of Pharaoh Kih-Oskh. Sarcophagus accidentally bumps into R.J. Rastapopoulos, who nearly beats him before being stopped by Tintin. Afterward, Rastapopoulos arranges for drugs to be planted on Tintin, which results in Tintin being arrested by Thompson and Thomson. Tintin escapes, and regroups with Sarcophagus in Cairo. Rastapopoulos sends word to his men to deal with Tintin and Sarcophagus, who are captured when they unearth the tomb of Pharaoh Kih-Oskh, which is being used as a base by Rastapopoulos and as a dumping ground for the dead bodies of the other archaeologists who have gone looking for the tomb of Pharaoh Kih-Oskh. Tintin and Sarcophagus are placed in coffins that are smuggled aboard a ship run by Rastapopoulos's second-in-command, Allan. Allan is forced to dump the coffins due to the sudden appearance of the Coast Guard, though he does recapture Sarcophagus. Tintin is found and brought ashore by friendly sailors, and stumbles onto the set of a film being produced by Rastapopoulos. Rastapopoulos acts affable towards Tintin and sends him on his way, but then orders his men to eliminate Tintin before he reaches Cairo. A sniper fails to hit Tintin, but they do hit his canteen, which causes Tintin to nearly die of thirst before finally reaching Cairo. While in the city, Tintin discovers that the cigars that have been popping up all throughout his adventure are hollow and being used to smuggle drugs from India. Tintin is captured and set to be executed by men affiliated with Rastapopoulos, but is saved by Thompson and Thomson, and proceeds to fly a hijacked airplane to India.
  • 7. Tintin crash lands on the coast of India and runs into Sarcophagus, who has been driven insane from being exposed to a madness-inducing drug ("Rajaijah juice") by Rastapopoulos's minion, the Fakir. A doctor that Tintin encounters examines Sarcophagus, gives a note to Tintin, and instructs Tintin take it to a nearby psychiatric hospital, along with Sarcophagus. The Fakir causes Sarcophagus to nearly kill Tintin, and afterward tries to kill Tintin himself, but Tintin is saved by Snowy. Tintin brings Sarcophagus to the hospital, but is himself committed on the recommendation of the doctor's note, the doctor having been in league with Rastapopoulos. Tintin escapes, and meets the Maharaja of Gaipajama, who explains that the drug smugglers took over his people's poppy farms, and that his family's attempts to drive them off resulted in his father and his brother being driven mad by Rajaijah juice given to them by the Fakir. Tintin thwarts the Fakir's attempt to also drive the Maharaja insane, and follows him to a meeting of high-ranking members of the drug smuggling ring, all of whom he knocks out, though the Fakir escapes with Rastapopoulos and the kidnapped son of the Maharaja. Rastapopoulos leaves the Fakir to ambush Tintin while he makes a run for it with the kidnapped boy, but a rock that he accidentally dislodges while climbing up a cliff knocks out the Fakir. Rastapopoulos tries to deal with Tintin himself by crushing him with a boulder, but seemingly falls to his death while Tintin saves the son of the Maharaja.
  • 8. Tintin is staying with the Maharaja, and is visited by a Chinese man who, before being hit by a dart coated with Rajaijah juice, says something about a Japanese man named Mitsuhirato in Shanghai. Mitsuhirato only offers Tintin vague warnings, and suggests that he return to India. Tintin survives a drive-by shooting, nearly being decapitated by a man who was poisoned with Rajaijah juice, and being knocked out and thrown off of a ship while trying to get back to India. Tintin is rescued and brought to Wang Chen-Yee, the father of Didi, the man who nearly beheaded Tintin in Shanghai. Wang Chen-Yee explains that he and his organization were the ones who actually sent the messenger to Tintin in India, and that they fight the drug smuggling ring, whose membership includes Mitsuhirato. Tintin cracks one of the drug smuggling ring's coded messages, which leads him to a private club called the Blue Lotus. Tintin spies on Mitsuhirato blowing up a railroad track at Post 123. Tintin is captured and injected with Rajaijah juice by Mitsuhirato, except the juice was swapped out with colored water by Mitsuhirato's double agent servant, Mr. Lee. Wang Chen-Yee reveals that Mitsuhirato used the money that he made working with Rastapopoulos to fund the railroad track bombing, which was used as a justification to have the military of Japan appear to "restore order" to Shanghai.
  • 9. Mitsuhirato has his soldier allies be on the lookout for Tintin, who is searching Shanghai for Fang Hsi-ying, a professor who can possibly cure the madness induced by Rajaijah juice. Rastapopoulos arranges for Fang to be abducted, and demands a ransom of $50,000 from Tintin. At the drop-off site, Tintin is nearly arrested by Thompson and Thomson and later almost assassinated, but is saved by his new friend, Chang Chong-Chen. Wang Chen-Yee, his wife, and Tintin are captured by Mitsuhirato and brought to the Blue Lotus. Rastapopoulos appears and reveals himself to be the mastermind of the drug smuggling operation, and the one responsible for almost everything that has happened to Tintin during his journey through the Middle East and Asia. Rastapopoulos decides to dispose of Tintin and the Wangs by having them be decapitated by the Wangs' deranged son, Didi, but the triple decapitation is stopped by Tintin and the Wangs' allies, including Chang. Rastapopoulos leaves Mitsuhirato and their henchmen behind and tries to save himself, but is caught Thompson and Thomson. The rescued Fang is able to concoct an antidote to cure everyone who was driven insane by Rastapopoulos and Co.
  • 25. Tintin, Haddock, and Calculus have a stopover in Jakarta on their way to an astronautical congress in Sydney, Australia. They run into Piotr Skut, an Estonian pilot acquaintance who is also heading to the congress with neurotic millionaire Laszlo Carreidas. Carreidas invites the trio to travel with him to Sydney. Carreidas's double agent assistant warns Rastapopoulos about Tintin and Co., but is instructed to continue with the plan by Rastapopoulos. The assistant and others loyal to Rastapopoulos take over Carreidas's airplane, and bring it to an island being used as a hideout by Rastapopoulos. When a frightened Snowy runs off into the island's jungle, Rastapopoulos orders a few of his men (which include the island's natives) to find and shoot the dog, to the outrage and shock of Tintin. Rastapopoulos reveals that he is going to rebuild his criminal empire by stealing the ten million dollars that Carreidas has squirreled away in a Swiss bank account, the account number of which he will get from Carreidas using an experimental truth serum created by his new ally, Doctor Krollspell. Rastapopoulos has Krollspell take away Carreidas, while Tintin and Co. are taken by Allan, who reveals that, after he is done with Carreidas, Rastapopoulos is going to force them back onto Carreidas's airplane, which will be towed out to sea and sunk by Allan. Rastapopoulos and Krollspell inject Carreidas with the truth serum, which fails to work properly, merely causing Carreidas to babble on about past petty thefts before passing out, to the frustration of Rastapopoulos. Tintin and Co. are freed by Snowy, with Tintin and Haddock going in search of Carreidas. When Rastapopoulos takes a swing at Krollspell, he is accidentally pricked with the truth serum needle by Krollspell. The truth serum causes both Rastapopoulos and Carreidas to go into weepy hysterics, and as the two of them begin arguing over which one of them is worse, Rastapopoulos (who boasts that he financially ruined his entire family) accidentally lets slip that it had been his plan all along to shoot Krollspell as soon as they finished with Carreidas. Krollspell, in fear for his life, tries to make a run for it, but runs into Tintin and Haddock, who subdue him and Rastapopoulos.
  • 26. When the delirium caused by the serum wears off, a bound and gagged Rastapopoulos runs off while Tintin and Haddock are distracted by a gun battle with Allan. Rastapopoulos regroups with Allan, and orders him and his other henchmen to get him Carreidas and to kill Tintin and Co. Tintin (who is being guided by a mysterious voice) and Co. are chased into an ancient cave by Rastapopoulos and Co. Tintin and Co. reunite with Calculus and their other friends, and discover that the mysterious voice belongs to Mik Kanrokitoff, a man who was given telepathic headgear by extraterrestrials that had built a base on the island a thousand years ago during their first visit to Earth. Rastapopoulos resorts to using dynamite to try and follow Tintin and Co. deeper into the cave, and accidentally triggers a volcanic eruption, which he and his allies flee as Tintin and Co. escape in a space ship summoned by Kanrokitoff, who erases the short term memories of Tintin and Co. Rastapopoulos (who does not appear to care that the eruption that he caused has destroyed or at least severely damaged the island and probably killed all of the natives on it) orders that the space ship be shot down, but he and his allies are hypnotized into boarding it, have their memories wiped, and are dumped elsewhere on Earth.
  • 27. A recovered Rastapopoulos assumes a new identity, the Marquis di Gorgonzola, and starts running Arab Air, which has a major link in its air routes in Wadesdah, the capital city of Khemed. Rastapopoulos secretly uses Arab Air to traffic desperate Arab refugees, who he promises to bring to safe haven in exchange for all of their valuables; he kills the refugees after getting their money, and when Mohammed Ben Kalish Ezab, the ruler of Khemed, found out about the trafficking, he kicked Arab Air out of Khemed. Rastapopoulos gives backing to Dr. J. W. Müller, another enemy of Tintin, to overthrow Ezab, who sends his son to live with Tintin and Co. Tintin and Haddock travel to Wadesdah, but are forced back into their crowded airplane, which has had a bomb planted in it by agents of Rastapopoulos and Müller. The airplane has engine trouble that forces it to crash land, which saves Tintin, Haddock, and everyone else that was aboard it from the bomb, which Tintin realizes must have been planted by enemies of Ezab. Tintin and Haddock reach Ezab's resistance's camp after being attacked by incompetent fighters sent after them by Müller.
  • 28. Tintin and Haddock leave Khemed using a boat, which is attacked and sunk by Piotr Skut, who was lead to believe that he was targeting gunrunners by Rastapopoulos and Müller. Rastapopoulos, who is attending a costume party on his yacht, is informed of Tintin and Haddock's possible deaths by Müller. The adrift Tintin, Haddock, and Skut are spotted by the yacht; Rastapopoulos gives the order to leave the trio to die, but quickly recants to keep up appearances with his guests, who have also spotted Tintin and Co. Rastapopoulos keeps Tintin and Co. separate from the other passengers, and calls Allan, who is captaining the freighter Ramona. Tintin and Co. are brought aboard Ramona, and nearly killed when it is covered with explosives and set on fire (with the latest batch of dozens of "refugees" still in its hold) by a fleeing Allan and his crew under orders from Rastapopoulos. Tintin and Co. put out the fire with the help of the refugees, escape Allan and Co. when they try to re-board the Ramona, and are later contacted by the oblivious crew of Rastapopoulos's submarine, Red Sea Shark. The submarine informs the Ramona that its "cargo" (the refugees) is ready to be picked up (i.e. dumped in the ocean) at the designated spot in the Pacific. The Ramona sends out an S.O.S. that is heard by Rastapopoulos and a battleship called the S.S. Los Angeles. Rastapopoulos orders the Red Sea Shark to torpedo the Ramona. The S.S. Los Angeles saves the Ramona, subdues the Red Sea Shark, and halts Rastapopoulos's yacht while demanding to see Rastapopoulos. Rastapopoulos boards a personal motorboat that will take him to the S.S. Los Angeles, but it sinks, which leads everyone to assume that he has drowned, when in reality he has escaped in a miniature submarine that disappears into the depths of the Pacific.

Heinousness: So, he started out as a drug kingpin who had anyone who stumbled onto or interfered with his business either killed (like the archaeologists who unearthed one of his bases in the lost tomb of Pharaoh Kih-Oskh) or driven insane using a madness-inducing poison that was believed to be incurable until Professor Fang. He proved to be a Bad Boss when (in a scene added to the animated adaptation) he takes off and leaves his allies behind in the Blue Lotus, and when he later, under the effects of the truth serum, accidentally lets slip that he was going to subject Krollspell to You Have Outlived Your Usefulness. He appeared unperturbed when his actions caused the populated island that he was using as a base to be almost totally destroyed, so it was unsurprising when he turned out to be fine with intentional mass murder, falsely offering Arab refugees safe passage to America in exchange for all of their valuables before having them drowned in the Pacific (in the original comic, the plan was just to sell Africans wanting to do a pilgrimage to Mecca into slavery). Adding to that, he was going to have an airplane full of people blown up simply to kill one person, and later tries to have one of his own ships (which was full of the latest batch refugees who were set to die anyway) destroyed, again, merely to kill one person.

The show dealt with all manner of thieves, usurpers, smugglers, counterfeiters, spies, kidnappers, saboteurs, gangsters, etc. but he was the most ambitious and worst of the villains, with the only one who came anywhere close to him being counterfeiter turned oil saboteur and would-be usurper Dr. J. W. Müller, and even he ended up just becoming one of Rastapopoulos's pawns in the Middle Eastern human smuggling operation in his last appearance in the adaptation in The Red Sea Sharks.

Mitigating Factors: He was a bit of an injury-prone Butt-Monkey (especially while under the effects of the truth serum) in the adaptation of Flight 714 to Sydney, but it was downplayed (over half of his Amusing Injuries, like being hit by a discarded gun part, being given a black eye when Allan accidentally elbowed him in the face, getting hit in the head by a falling rock, etc. were removed) compared to the original story, and he was back to being a straightforward and straight-laced villain when he next appeared in the adaptation of The Red Sea Sharks, where he was arguably even worse than his comics counterpart, in that he was murdering the refugees, not just trying to sell them into slavery.

He acted genial and gentlemanly towards his party guests in The Red Sea Sharks, but it was merely an act, used to add an air of respectability to his new identity as the Marquis di Gorgonzola.

I'm not terribly surprised we ended up plumbing a keep out of the animated Tintin after all. Yes, eager yes, to Rastapopoulos.

Okay, aside from Live Action film and couple of Devilman games (on PS1 and Famicon), I covered all possible candidates from Devilman franchise, so here are their writeups:

Jinmen:

Original manga; Devilman Lady; Shin Violence Jack; Devilman Saga: A turtle-like demon and one of the most sadistic creatures in the whole Devilman verse, Jinmen makes his first appearance by using the form of train guard to trap the whole train full of people, among whom was Akira's younger sister, in the middle of nowhere and joyfully slaughter them all alongside a fellow demon. Keeping all of his victims alive in his shell, in a state of eternal pain, Jinmen challenged Akira into a fight, using his victims as human shields, while gloating about planning to add Akira himself to his "collection". After being killed, Jinmen dragged all of his victims to Hell along, torturing them more and adding countless more people to his shell. Later on, Jinmen merged with the leader of the New Shu Army and began eating people within said army, while also becoming one of the chief subordinates of Skull King, helping to expand his kingdom of rape and torture. In the distant future Jinmen possessed Professor Kamei through his own Demon Armor and influenced him to murder people and trap their souls in his back.

Devilman: The Demon Bird: Just as vile as his manga counterpart, upon awakening from suspended animation, Jinmen slaughters and eats the archaeologist group, which included Akira Fudo's parents, with Akira's mother being dismembered and bisected. Trapping all of their souls within his shell, in a state of constant pain, Jinmen called Akira to his lair solely to show it off to torment Akira and then try to kill him as well. When Akira is distressed by the sight of his mother's suffering, Jinmen exploits his weakness to discourage him from transforming into Devilman and severely beats him he is still in human form.

The Apocalypse of Devilman: Strange Days: The unnamed Expy of Jinmen in this story is a similar turtle-like demon with the love of causing as much pain and suffering as he can. Having killed and eaten dozens of innocent people, he trapped them in a state of neverending agony. Chasing down a little girl, whose family he recently eaten, turtle demon attacks Kira Udoa and Kasuka Ryuu, who came to defend this child. Intending to eat them as well, turtle demon tries to kill them, before they were forced to burn him, to put all his victims to rest.

Devilman vs Hades: In this non-canon continuation of original Devilman manga, Jinmen is even more vile. Desiring revenge on Akira for killing him, Jinmen makes a deal with Hades, offering his services in exchange for chance of killing Akira. Later on devouring the souls of entire Akira's hometown, Jinmen trapped them on his shell in his own version of the city, where they can never die. Luring Akira there and tormenting him with the site of Miki's severed head, Jinmen begins to destroy parts of the town in hopes of killing Akira, torturing all its residents, while proudly intending to keep them as his own playthings to torture for all eternity.

1972 anime and Mitsuru Hiruta's manga based on the anime:

Anime: Demon King Zennon is a leader of a Demon Tribe, who desires to exterminate humanity and all life on Earth, solely so he could conquer and rule the world himself. Ordering the titular Devilman to possess the body of Akira Fudo and cause chaos and destruction over human population, Zennon was furious when Devilman abandoned this goal, because he grow to care for humanity and his new adopted family. Creating many plans to kill Devilman and cause destruction all over the world, Zennon caused the deaths of thousands, as he ordered his Demon Generals to kill as many people as they can. In the final episodes Zennon leads his demons to erupt volcanos near the populated city, causing countless deaths, control moon's gravity in hopes of killing off all life on Earth with it and having his latest demon God to cause catastrophes around the planet.

Manga: The winged demon Kentos is the vilest creature in this manga adaptation of the above mentioned anime. Creating countless beautiful necklaces through his feathers and sending them around the world, Kentos used them to transport the heads of all humans who weared them to his realm of darkness, leaving their bodies still alive and moving but unable to remove the necklaces. As still living heads of recently arrived humans panic, Kentos gloats to them that soon all humanity will be transported to his realm like this, as he intends to torture them forever by mutilating their heads however he sees fit.

Amon: The Darkside of the Devilman: Cadney is a secretary of Professor Rainuma, who sees himself as existence above humanity. In truth being one of the attendants of the party, where Akira became Devilman, Cadney doesn't notice that part of the Amon merged with him and considered himself special for not being possessed by the demon. Killing, cannibalizing and raping people in the past for slightest offense, in the present Cadney leads demon hunting squads in killing countless innocent people and kidnapping numerous humans and demons for him to torture by experimenting on them, having his underlings mutilating them and forcing the demons to fight to the death. Leading Professor Rainuma in revealing his own theory of humans, who through negative emotions transform into demons, Cadney started a series of widespread "witch hunts", causing the deaths of thousands, as people grow more and more paranoid and kill each other out of fear of demons. When Akira absorbed him back into his Amon form, Cadney tried to destroy Akira from within by creating a body of Miki cutting her apart, while laughing about her death.

Amon: The Apocalypse of Devilman: Amon is an ancient demon, who was merged with Akira. Hating his existence of being forced to help humanity, Amon torment Akira with nightmares, before he was able to break free, due to Akira suffering after seeing Miki die. Destroying Devilmans' base and sadistically slaughtering most of the demon group that attacked him, Amon picks up the preteen Devilman girl and waits for her to wake up before he starts eating her, solely so she could feel all the pain. Horrifying the demons with such cruelty, Amon prepared to tear off the head of a teenage Devilman girl, before demons flee in panic, causing Amon to chase them and murder them. Painfully killing their leader, Amon tries to enact revenge on Satan for forcing him to fuse with a "pathetic human", before he was forced to battle with Akira for control of the body. Tormenting Akira with sights of Miki's death, Amon uses every opportunity he has to prolong his suffering during their battle.

They're not tweaked, but the entries are all up at the Devilman page reformat. I DID tweak this. First for Devilman, then for the Mazinger tree:

Here's writeups:

  • Birds of Prey: Roman Sionis/Black Mask is the disgraced former heir of the Janus Corporation and the most powerful crime lord in Gotham's East End. Roman is a flamboyant, misogynistic, mood-swinging sadist with a hair trigger, once having a woman forcibly stripped in his club because—he thinks—she's laughing at him. Roman demonstrates his love of Cold-Blooded Torture via his fondness for having people's faces sliced off while they're alive, having a crime boss and his entire family tortured to death this way and having the man's daughter killed because of a snot bubble in her nose from crying so hard. Roman, throughout the entire film, hunts for the powerful Bertinelli family diamond to make himself the most powerful man in Gotham—the Bertinelli family itself massacred down to the children, save for Helena Bertinelli, all according to Roman's design—and Roman attempts to kill everyone in his way getting to it, from Harley Quinn to Cassandra Cain to his own singer and driver Dinah Lance.

  • Hellboy:
    • Herman von Klempt is a Nazi mad scientist with an inability to stay dead, even after having been reduced to little more than a head in a jar. Herman von Klempt attempts to resurrect an old Nazi project to fill all of America with slaughterous vampires, tries to take out the spinal fluid of young peasant girls in his first meeting with Hellboy, and conducts terrifying experiments on hundreds in the depths of an old prison in Brazil. Herman von Klempt reaches his full streak of evil upon pledging his service to the Ogdru Jahad; von Klempt manipulates his daughter into unearthing an apocalyptic beast known as the Conqueror Worm to devour all humanity, first feeding all of her soldiers to the beast and wickedly transforming his own granddaughter into a misshapen beast to watch as he reduces the Earth to a scorched tinder and hands it over to the Ogdru Jahad.
    • Souls of Venice: Romulus Diovanni was a depraved Venetian nobleman whose debaucherous parties attracted the attention of a vampire whom Diovanni befriended. Diovanni's evil exceeded even the vampire's own, and when the vampire denied Diovanni immortality, Diovanni tortured his former friend for years on end before eating him, becoming a vampire, and slaughtering hundreds. Unsatisfied with even this power, Diovanni hunts for six-hundred years to capture the soul of Venice's goddess Cloacina and hand her over to Shax for the power to command Shax's forces to come upon all humanity.

  • A True Telling of the Horror at Red Hook: The "Dutchman," one Robert Suydam, is an enigmatic and reclusive nobleman who in actuality is a child-sacrificing occultist who uses an old Dutch church as the burial ground for the bones of countless dead children. Secretly a monstrous, crab-clawed Humanoid Abomination behind closed doors, Suydam only marries once for a wife, not for the lady herself but for what is inside of her—killing the woman and meticulously storing all of her organs in jars.

Hey guys, I just thought of this. Has Ix from Sonic Chronicles been discussed, cause I’m thinking on checking to see if he counts.

My memory of Chronicles is vague but I don't remember the Imperator going above and beyond. Some slavery, some betrayal, an attempt to conquer the world when the worst-of-the-worst in the franchise try to destroy it.

Whoops, fixed.

Any more Hellboy candidates for now? And speaking of, even though he didn't appear first, should Azzael go at the top?

Doesn't look like anyone's seriously considered discussing Ix from Sonic Chronicles.

Anyway, instead of just asking about changing Watts, I will edit the writeup and see what you think. How does this look?

Before:

  • Doctor Arthur Watts is the highest ranked member of Salem's inner circle, assisting Cinder in her actions in Vale to throw the city into chaos and facilitate a Grimm invasion. Returning to Atlas and Mantle, Watts schemes to have the vicious Tyrian Callows murder the supporters of Robyn Hill and frame Penny Polendina for the killings, shutting down Mantle's heating grid to allow countless citizens to freeze to death to rely on chaos and negative emotions to bring about a Grimm invasion of slaughter to further Salem's schemes.

After:

  • Doctor Arthur Watts is the highest ranked member of Salem's inner circle, assisting Cinder in her actions in Vale to throw the city into chaos and facilitate a Grimm invasion. Once a former Atlas scientist, Watts was furious that Ironwood would acknowledge Pietro Polendina's genius over his, leading to him faking his death and eventually joining up with Salem. Unfeeling for the lives he has hurt and ruined, Watts is a cold narcissist who betrayed his kingdom out of spite and jealousy

And if your wondering, he admits such in his fight with Ironwood. He was clearly jealous of Pietro being acknowledged for his brilliance and ideas over his own and Watts didn't liek that one bit, thinking that Pietro was an idiot.

We have Landis Pope, and Lighty still has the Crooked Man to do.

[up] Beyond maybe elaborating on his motivation, the only additions to the writeup are, IMO, completely unneeded. It's bloating a serviceable entry with filler (another summary sentence?).

Keep the bit about his motive. Everything else is unneeded.

Good point because he did actually receive his doctrine through legal means. How does this look?
