During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Snake Man.
Hiss ("King Hiss being using magic to imprison King Hiss in eternal slumber again." Come again?).
22 already this week, not including the COC stuff.
Here's Naruto:
- Naruto, while idealistic, does have a few irredeemable characters, who surpass all the others in heinousness:
- Hidan, a member of a Religion of Evil, worships violence and death, and sees mercy—or anything other than full-scale slaughter—as a sin. He and his partner, Kakuzu, corner and capture the Two-Tails jinchuuriki, Yugito Ni, delivering her to Pain for draining and, eventually, death. The two of them subsequently slaughtered a temple's worth of monks in order to collect the bounty on the head monk, Chiriku. During the battle at the bounty station, Hidan engaged Asuma Sarutobi in combat, and used a religious ritual to bind their souls together, then began mutilating himself in order to torture Asuma, ultimately leading to the Leaf Ninja's painful death. When Asuma's student Shikamaru confronted Hidan, Hidan mocked his mentor's memory, and attempted to inflict the same fate on Shikamaru.
- Legend of the Stone of Gelel: Haido was first introduced hoping to use the Stone of Gelel to create a utopia, but in fact just wants the power. Years ago, after learning about the Stone of Gelel, hoping to find it, he attacked Temujin's village, with he and his men murdering all of the adults, including Temujin's parents. He decided to spare the children, but only because they would be more useful to him alive. Seeing Temujin's potential, he made the boy his apprentice and put one piece of the Stone in his chest while convincing the children to place their souls in armored suits, becoming mindless soldiers he had complete control over. He convinces them that killing and sacrificing their bodies are necessary, and uses them to attack entire villages in the Land of Winds while trying to find the Stone. In the climax, after reaching the Mines of Gelel, he starts assaulting everyone. Temujin tries to intervene, but when he finally recognize his parents' killer, Haido mocks Temujin for not realizing it sooner and forcibly takes the crystal he gave out of Temujin's chest, declaring him a pawn no longer useful. Transforming into a more monstrous state, he proclaims he will use his new power to enslave the world. Using lies to get away with murder, cruelty and claiming power, Haido was a depraved monster whose transformation only highlighted the ugliness he hid from others.
- Shippuden: The anime-only character Kazuma is a former member of the Twelve Guardian Ninjas and was a friend and comrade of Asuma Sarutobi and Chiruku. He saw the Hokage, and by extension, useless and threats to the figurehead Fire Daimyo in the Land of Fire. Originally, he convinced half of his comrades to try to assassinate the Hokage while Asuma stopped him, and seemingly killed him. Years later, after it was revealed he implanted Kurama's chakra into his son to create a weapon to destroy Konoha, he attacks dozens of border towns with his men. After killing thousands of people, he raided the tombs of his former comrades and would use them to make a Weapon of Mass Destruction to incinerate every man, woman, and child in Konoha to the ground, all the while constantly beating and manipulating Sora to turn on his new friends. The people he killed on the border towns were used to create a small-scale Zombie Apocalypse around Konoha to distract, and trap, everyone in the village. Finally, when that plan failed he triggered his son's Superpowered Evil Side and sent him to destroy Konoha.
- Boruto: Naruto the Movie: Momoshiki Otsutsuki is a member of the ancient Otsutsuki clan who arrives on the Naruto Earth and promptly drains Killer Bee of chakra, leaving him for dead. Intending to harvest all the chakra of Kaguya Otsusuki, which would likely kill every living being with chakra on the planet, Momoshiki attempts to cultivate a new chakra tree to enhance his own power. While the chūnin exams are underway, Momoshiki and his partner Kinshiki Otsutsuki attack the Leaf Village, Momoshiki destroying everything in sight while laughing like a maniac as he targets civilians. Only Naruto's sacrifice saves Momoshiki from annihilating the entire village, and possibly more, with a huge attack. Capturing Naruto, Momoshiki attempts to drain him dry of chakra and shows no remorse in literally eating the loyal Kinshiki for more power, or trying to kill all of Naruto's rescuers, even his twelve-year-old son Boruto.
- Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls: The Jashinist Ryūki poses as a holy man seeking to help people connect to their loved ones. Behind a series of kidnappings while seducing young women to his sect, Ryūki brings them for a holy ritual, though he intends to poison and offer them as blood sacrifices in a large number to his god Jashin in order to achieve immortality. Despising the peaceful era he exists in, Ryūki gleefully intends to throw the world back to chaos and slaughter, viewing the depraved Jashinist murderer Hidan as the only being worth emulating.

Anyway, here's the writeup for Idol Rabier.
- The Rising Of The Shield Hero: Raphtalia's former owner, named Idol Rabier in the anime, is a sadistic bigot towards demi-humans. After the first Wave of Calmity, he has a village of surviving demi-humans attacked, slaughtering the adults and enslaving the children. Rabier regularly tortured his slaves, causing several of them to die from his treatment of them. Seeking to kill the wanted Naofumi to look like a hero, Rabier tortures Van Reichnott to try and find Naofumi's location, and attempts to do the same to Princess Melty afterwards. Upon being cornered by Raphtalia, Rabier begs for his life to be spared; when Raphtalia grants this request in the anime, Rabier tries to kill her anyway. With the last of his strength, Rabier releases a monster sealed within the town and orders it to destroy everything in sight, willing to put countless lives at risk all to gain glory by killing Naofumi.
Before or after the King? Medea stays on top as she's the Big Bad.
EDIT: Well, the pending list is back under 30. Kaz, you still doing the Morning Glories duo?

No to Warlock and Google.
Like I said, I think a lot of the monsters in the Masters of the Universe page will be different versions of Skeletor, King Hiss, and Hordak.
Wait, wait. Where we got the Shield Hero EP?. Sincerity Mode, I didn't saw it.

Watch me destroying my countryA wild Malty has entered the chat
Sweet... This thread moves really fast. I'll give a yes to all of the candidates I missed and after several thinking... No on Chrome
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."@Minister Of Sinister Permission to slightly rewrite the King Ghidorah entries to make it clear he's not just out to Kill All Humans, but is an Omnicidal Maniac?
Kaz: Here you go
. A little over 24 hours ago...and 11 pages ago.
Overlord: Makes sense. Like Commander for GI Joe, or Unicron/Megatron for Transformers. Or, to a lesser extent, Brainiac for Superman (4 on that page, 4 for DC Animation) or Joker for Batman (11 and 3).
Perhaps we could keep the Kill All Humans part as That was At least part of his goal, but Ax the Dragons Are Demonic Pothole(Sense ad Polar pointed out that's a generalization and isnt quite true in the context of the film as dragons are reffered to as Sacred). And replace it with a Omnicidal Maniac pothole?
Things are really about to get Fun around hereGhidorah's name is already potholed as Omnicidal Maniac... does he really need a full on rewrite or can we just take out the word 'human' before 'life on Earth'?
