During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Sorry about the delay in the Axel write up I've been busy all weekend.
- Mile 22: Axel the Indocarrian agent in charge of catching Li Noor. When Overwatch is escaping with Noor Axel blows up one of their trucks, killing several agents. When Overwatch hide in a cafe Axel blows it up, killing all of the civilians inside including a little girl. He later executes agent Douglas when he makes a stand against Axel's agents. In the following fight his men shoot up a hotel, nearly killing agent Alice and a little girl. Despite his friendly persona Axel is continuously shown to not care about anyone but himself.
Also my write up for Yin
was never put on the film page, could someone explain why?

Is Axel truly the Big Bad? I haven't seen the film, but looking at the page for it, it seems like the Russian villains and Li Noor are just as prominent as him, if not even more.

Then I recommend you change the mainn pothole to The Heavy, just to avoid confusion.
EDIT:

Oh and looking at the page I know the true Big Bad, the Russian general doesn't count due to loving her son but what about Li Noor?
Also, does anyone count in BlacKkKlansman? We forgot to discuss it.
Edited by MenInGreyToBlak on Sep 3rd 2018 at 11:52:29 AM
Are we discussing Blac KK Klannsman now? No one counts. All the villains are about as bad as each other, save one but he seems to love his wife and I'm not sure he really breaches the heinous standard of the film.
I'm switching to an abstain on Dormammu until further discussion can occur.

So, since we shot down two proposed characters due to them primarily being motivated by their own survival, I'd like to ask questions about this entry.
- The Flight Before Christmas: Black Wolf is the alpha of a bloodthirsty pack of wolves who open up the movie attempting to kill and eat the young Niko. Black Wolf, stressing over the lack of food, attacks a completely harmless poodle who strays into his territory; the poodle accidentally gives Black Wolf the idea to kill and eat Santa Claus and his reindeer. Black Wolf then gets the idea to pose as Santa's reindeer in the process so he and his pack could sneak into the houses of humans. The plan was to slaughter every child in the world to curb his hunger. Black Wolf tracks the reindeer down, proclaims himself the new Santa Claus, and prepares to eat the reindeer. Interrupted by Niko, Black Wolf attempts to murder him too out of frustration, going as far to pursue him on top of a flying sleigh miles in the air. Even as he fell to his inevitable Karmic Disney Villain Death, Black Wolf dragged Niko's best friend Julius down with him, stating his joy that at least he wouldn't die hungry; he would have killed Julius if not for Niko saving him.
With the exception of trying to kill Julius before he died, it seems like all of the Black Wolf's actions are driven by sustaining his hunger Admittedly, I highly doubt he'd need to kill every child in the world to do it, but the entry says it's to curb his hunger so...*shrugs*
Yes to all the candidates I missed, except for animated Dormammu who I will abstain on. Also regarding the 90s Spidey cartoon, would the fact that the Carnage symbiote was influencing an alternate reality version of Peter Parker to destroy reality in the series finale count as deeds committed by Carnage?
Anyway here is my write up What If Dormammu:
- What If Dr. Strange was a disciple of Dormammu: In this tale Dormammu is as power hungry as ever. Dormammu orders his minion Baron Mordo to heal Dr. Strange's hands to make him indebted to Dormammu. Strange stays arrogant, but eventually loses his medical license due to malpractice. Mordo convinces Strange to become a servant of Dormammu after he lost his licencee. However eventually Dormammu grows bored with Mordo and orders Strange to kill him. Dormammu is angered by Strange freeing his sister Umar, whom he imprisoned for being a threat to his ambitions. Dr. Strange and Dormammu confront the Ancient One and cabal of wizards he gathered to oppose Dormammu, killing most of them in the process. Strange and Dormammu then confront Eternity, the living embodiment of the universe itself. However Dormammu betrays Strange and traps him a magic crystal, saying he needs a human lens to focus his attacks on Eternity, willing to kill Strange to attack Eternity. After Eternity is dead, Dormammu plans to use his power to remake the universe into a new Dark Dimension and then plunge the universe into chaos, so he can rule it with an iron first.

Gonna vouch 'keep' on Black Wolf... there's a pronounced difference between an Eldritch Abomination needing to satisfy its Horror Hunger to survive, even with a certain dickishness about it and a wolf who's pack is hungry, which he deals with by feeding them a group of people and then goes, "Hey, let's polish it off by eating every kid in the world!" That's a markedly cruel and greedy idea.
Keep Black wolf. The dudes just a greedy prick, best exmplified by the fact that he doesnt want to just eat enough to satisfy his hunger but wants to eat all the children of the world.

@43110 I thought because Harrison Love got a redo that it would be fine. In the case of Hans Gruber and Mars Krupcheck though, theirs were justified because the new info led to them qualifying when they already didn’t.
If it’s the film version,
to Dormmamu.
