During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "
to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

HOLEY COW! This Gilday sounds like one of the worst characters ever discussed on here, worse then Mrs. Lenz, worse then Mick Taylor, worse then any incarnation of the Five Nights At Freddys killer, worse then Mason Verger, worse then George Harvey, heck, Jeffrey Dahmer himself would probably be disgusted by this guy. Hell, this guy sounds like the Jeffrey Dahmer of little girls. ![]()

Gilady. Anyway, any possible redeeming for Satan is that he is stated to be Affably Evil to people that he interacts with, but he's actually Faux Affably Evil, since he's really only polite to people so that he could further manipulate them. Anyway, I must reiterate my question again: has anyone seen the series? I wasn't proposing him in the first place; all I was asking was if someone had any knowledge on the show, since I haven't seen it in years.
However, with more extensive research, he seems like he's a decent keeper.

Gilday. Good lord. Talk about Disproportionate Retribution times 100. Out of curiosity, what's the copycat killer's excuse?
Easy
to Gilday. He kind of reminds me of a more out-of-control Dezono Qua.

I wouldn't go that far, but yeah, he is one of the worst characters we ever discussed. That said, him and Palpatine are two very different types of villains to compare; one is a fascist genoicidal dictator while the other is a Serial Killer of the worst sort.
for Gordon, Lord Hawk, Sal-Soo, Richard Mann, Gilday and Maxwell Black.
I have more then enough up votes to do a write up for General Kreigkopf:
- The Punisher: General Kreigkopf was a former officer in the US army who was kicked out due to his sadistic behavior. Kreigkopf fled to Grand Nixon Island, an island in the South Pacific and turned into a hub for criminals and mercenaries. Kreigkopf resurrects the Punisher's old enemy, the Russian and sends him after the Punisher. After the Punisher defeats the Russian again, he goes to Grand Nixon Island to deal with Kreigkopf. When Punisher foils some of Kreigkopf's operations, he becomes enraged. As it happens there is a French military officer on the island, using the island as fueling depot before going to test a nuclear bomb in the Pacific Ocean. Kreigkopf steals the bomb and plans to drop it on Brussels, feeling that no one would mess with Grand Nixon Island after that and he will get several new clients for his services after such a demonstration of power.
@ ACW, this entry would go in the 616 section of the Punisher page. Also I'm not sure which YMMV section I can add this too, the Punisher page is locked and the YMMV for the Punisher comics doesn't have its own monsters.
Also happy birthday Melon.

Surprisingly, my first thoughts on Gilday were just, "Man, this guy is easily the worst I've ever proposed! Doubt he's anything too special by the thread's standards, but he definitely counts."
But really thinking about it, I guess he is one of the more depraved ones discussed on the thread in quite some time....

No! That is NOT Solid Snake! Stop impersonating him!I'd argue that Cleek was the most depraved one for me. For me, he was the most disturbing proposal I had ever done.

The worst character I've brought up would have to be Dr. Samuel Greely. The worst character I've seen proposed was Tomas de Torquemada.

My biggest Monster I've proposed is definitely King Kans. In terms of the Monster I think of as most evil, Judge Death usually enters my mind.

Why so serious?Torquemada is certainly up there for me, as well as Gilday. I realized in going through this thread to try and find Magnussen that I saw I'd proposed Jim Moriarty initially. He's definitely my personal worst in terms of my meager proposals. (And he's also the best. I have terrible taste in fictional baes.)
In terms of atrocities I would say Palpatine is worse than Gidday, not that Gidday is any less evil or anything it's just Palpatine has more resources and works on a higher playing field. Palpatine is more like a Frieza-type villain: powerful, genocidal galatic overlord who has the power and resources to do just about anything they please. Gidday however is just a normal man who took advantage of his limited resources to be as depraved as he can.

Worst one I've ever proposed is Bill Boss. The guy had 500 people sewn together rectum to mouth, had a bunch of others sewn together rectum to mouth without limbs, castraited a man while he was fully awake without anesthetic, broke a man's arm twice, raped a woman, and got his Human Centipede and Human Caterpillar projects put in every prison in America.
Honestly, if I had to pick out who I considered to be the 15 worst CM's on this thread, they would be (in no particular order), Frieza, Mick Taylor, Ruinate, The Joker, Red Skull, Brainiac, Emperor Palpatine, Jeff Gilday, The Water Street Butcher, Nightmare Eclipse, King Ghidorah, Freddy Kreuger, AM, Sir Gregor Clegane, and Owlman.

jjjSome of the lesser knowns but worst I'd written up:
Manga: Sicks from Majin Tantei Neugami Neuro
Edward King of Green Blood
Wolfram from Wolfsmund
Apos from Mnemosyne
Gyokuro Shuzen of Rosario to Vampire
Aji Tae from Shin Angyo Onshi
Haguro Dou from Wolf Guy
And the villains of Yagyu Ninja Scrolls
From comics?
The Plutonian from Irredeemable
Willy Pete from Empowered
Torquemada
I can vouch for Edward King as one of the single worst manga villains out there, having read Green Blood recently. Highly recommend that, BTW.
I'd say Gilday is the worst "personal" villain I've proposed, but I think Teridax from BIONICLE is the most wicked villain in regards to scope that I've proposed.
Also, not that it matters at this point, but Gidlay? He heavily implies he's going to force Kane to eat parts of Darcy after he's cooked her up, just like he did to McNeal.

No! That is NOT Solid Snake! Stop impersonating him!

Also, I just wanted to post this dialogue between him and the protagonist, Kane, because it's just unbelievable. I cut a few bits and pieces to shorten it, but you'll get the idea.
Gilday: "She picked Gerry over me not once but twice. I was really pissed off."
Kane: “So you decided to vent a little anger by killing children?”
Gilday: “Actually, I primarily wanted this one here,” he gestured to Darcy. “Teach Barb and Gerry a lesson, you know. I couldn’t really start with her, however, too dangerous, so I decided to start west and work my way here. That way by the time I got to her she would be just one victim out of many. I will admit it was a lot more fun than I thought it could be. I had a lot of really great meals in this very kitchen. But Darcy was the one I originally wanted."
Kane: "I thought Gerry was your friend!”
Gilday: "Gerry was varsity; he thought everyone was his friend. He was varsity and I was always second string, since we were twelve. That’s what’s so ironic. Tonight was supposed to be a quiet dinner just between Barb and myself, that was the original idea, Barb Mullens was supposed to be sitting where you are right now. But I just couldn’t believe you picked Gerry over me as well. I couldn’t fucking believe it. As mad as I had been at Barb, I was even more pissed off at you. You didn’t know me as a pimply fucking teenager, you have no excuse in picking Gerry over me. None. So tonight I cook for you.”
Kane: "You planted everything on McNeil."
Gilday: "I also made McNeil share some dinner with me, just in case you checked his stomach contents. He bawled like a baby, but he finished his meal. Put a gun to a person’s head, it’s amazing what they can make themselves do, don’t you think? For dinner tonight we’ll be starting with seasoned hot blood soup. It comes out hot, did you know that?”
Kane: “How can you do this, Jeff, how can you eat children?”
Gilday: “They taste good. It’s not that different from eating veal, really. In fact, it tastes better!"
Kane: "When did it happen, Jeff? When did the theme music from Looney Tunes start playing nonstop in your head, twenty-four-seven?”
Gilday: “I’m not crazy, Emma.”
Kane: “You’re EATING KIDS, Jeff, you crossed the line of sanity a long time ago. You are a fruitcake psycho-killer! Listen to me, Jeff, don’t do this!”
Gilday picked up a sharp knife and stood behind Darcy. He put a bowl down in front of her and held the knife close to her throat with his right hand. He took the young girl by the hair with his left hand and forced her to lean forward over the bowl. Darcy’s eyes went wide.
Gilday: “Let’s start the soup.”
