Not Quite Batman
Chris is a little airheaded, but definitely not a The Ditz.

People hate Meg in real life, too? I think she's a little boring, but totally inoffensive beyond that.
And, honestly, I quite like Brian. The Brian and Stewie "Road to..." episodes are the best in the series, in my opinion.

"Religion isn't the cause of wars, it's the excuse." —Mycroft NextI apologize for bringing this topic back from the dead, but I am unhappy with the way it ended, I'll start by responding to previous comments.
- thank you for missing the point.
- that depends on the writer.
- if I hate those two characters for exactly the same reason, there must be something in common.
now, when I started this topic I was trying to be subtle, because I don't believe the internet justifies rudeness , unfortunately,I was a little too subtle,so let me make this straight .I hate chris, I wish he will drop to a blazing inferno ,I am wondering why the family guy fandom doesn't,and I will be happy to hear about other people hating him and talking with them about what we hate in chris.
it's not that I don't appreciate people giving me real answers, but the purpose of this topic was to check if there are other people who hate chris or am I a lonely hater.

^ I'd keep wishing, because you out and saying you want this to be a hate topic is pretty much the thing that assured it will never become one.
If anything, you've just turned this topic into Snark Bait.
Later on, however... meh.
Yes, very much yes. Part of the reason I dislike Brian nowadays is that they did him right earlier on and then they made him less and less likable, sometimes even downright detestable, as time went on.
He's a lame, unlikable character in a show that's filled to the brim with lame, unlikable characters. Its hard for any of them to stand out enough to be The Scrappy.
visit my blog!thank you.
frankly,I don't understand this fear some people have from hatred, the way I see it ,hatred is part of what makes us human, we love some things and hate others ,it is only natural,if we cease to hate,we cease to love ,and if we cease to love ,we cease to exist, for we are defined by the things we love and hate,no,we are the things we love and hate.
If anything, you've just turned this topic into Snark Bait.
Start of the series Brian was great, the best character in the whole run of the show.
Later on, however... meh.

if only I knew.
and I don't actually want this to be a hate topic. my question was real, I really don't understand why people don't hate him more. all I said is I would be happy to see that people do hate him because I do(or at least did) believe those people exist ,you got to understand it was rather annoying seeing how this topic quickly became a brian hate(or dislike, call it whatever you want) topic, when I said "talk" I didn't mean that we will spend 30 pages counting reasons why we hate chris.
now seeing the new comments I start to think that me hating him might have been an unlucky coincidence of me seeing a number of episode where he appeared to much in a row, because it is true that he gets little screentime but I strongly believe that the reason of that is that writers can't make something funny of this character .
I hope that I managed to make myself clear this time, not being an english speaker makes some things rather hard to express, especially on the web.

Strange. I find him hilarious on several occasions. Not all the time (that's not how Family guy rolls apparently, no character can be likable all the time except Mayor Adam We) but in the episode where he is babysat by Herbert the Pervert and talking to the shopkeeper voiced by Jon H Benjamin stand out. Jeez, they did that bit about awesome nude movie scenes live and the audience loved it: Evidence that the scene (and by extension the characters in it) is funny.
Like others have said I think a large part of why he doesn't become a Scrappy is because he really isn't used much in episodes. I do agree though his character is annoying but then pretty much everyone in the show has become Flanderized and annoying.
"If everybody is thinking alike, somebody isn't thinking"- George S. PattonJesus dude, we get it. No one doubted your unbridled and passionate hate for Chris Griffin— no need to clarify.
That aside, I think he's an okay character. He can be annoying/funny at times, but for the most part I'm neutral towards him. I agree with Alkthash; he doesn't have enough screen time to be The Scrappy.

I've decided to start posting more often. Sorry.HUGE bump.
If we are continuing the conversation, Chris just seems to be a character that's 'just there' right now. He rarely gets any individual episodes now and like most of the cast his facets and complexities have been diluted in favor of Rule of Funny. He seems to exist solely as a somewhat dimwitted character with a hidden snarky streak.

Exactly What It Says On The Tin
His character is nothing but a The Ditz with more screen time, making him even more irritating. Am I supposed to be entertained by a teen acting like a mentally ill 5 year old? don't we already have peter as an idiot ? Why would I want another one? Because chris is such a horrible character , half of his jokes revolve around him being abused by an old pedophile ,that was slightly funny for one time ,one time! why are those jokes keep getting recycled? I can't stand the star wars parody because I have to see that idiot as a main character .
I haven't seen the early episodes in a while, but if my memory serves me right he wasn't always like that and used to be a decent character. I wish he will ever get a personality change(and I don't mind if I'll have to face some Fan Dumb yelling "I liked the old chris better")or he will just get Deflanderized.
I can't possibly be the only one who feels this way.
